Cards of Consonance...for the record "Consonance" is the opposite of Alliteration in English...similar consonant sounds in a row (as opposed to similar vowel sounds...) So what the hell does this card have to do with that?

If this card read "Discard one Tuner-type monster with 1000 or less attack to Draw two cards..." it would be pretty damn broken. Insert the word "Dragon" and this card dies. A specific type AND restriction on the attack, which ironically isn't the hard part or downfall of the card.

Cards of Consonnance

This is a Normal Spell card with the effect, discard one Dragon Tuner with les than 1000 ATK points and draw two cards. The effect seems a bit narrow to me, especially since there are like 2 Dragon Tuners, Majestic Dragon, Magna Drago and Debris Dragon. but you can use Consonnance with Debris and Majestic, but it works best with Debris because it doesn't suck.

The thing is that Debris Dragon is meant to be in teh hand and not discarded so that he can bring back Dandylion or other such goodies to the field. Unless I am missing something, this is the weakest of the discard and draw two spells.

Cards of Consonance will finish off this week, Discarding a Dragon Tuner monster with 1000 or less attack to draw 2 cards may seem like its rather difficult but really its not. One good example was given within the cards art. The White Stone of Legend is a level 1 tuner Dragon that searches Blue-Eyes White Dragon when sent to the graveyard. Discarding it for Consonance to draw 2 cards allows you to add a Blue-Eyes White Dragon after drawing your 2 cards to your hand. There was also Flamvell Guard from the Hidden Arsenal set, which is another level 1 Dragon tuner with 100 attack, 2000 defense but its a simple normal monster. The 2 best options to use are Debris Dragon and The White Stone of Legend. Since above all the potential options in the TCG, they would see the most play. Its a good card for certain decks, but I dont see this card impacting the game much at all.

Cards of Consonance ...

A really simple card with a simple effect. Discard a dragon type Tuner monster with 1000 ATK or less and draw 2 cards. Its still a 2 for 2, and its not one of the better ones. Sure, sending Tuners to the grave can set up plays for u, which is nice ... but the fact is - most people wouldn't play with more than 3 or 4 Tuners in their deck anyway. Sangan and whatever else can quicken those Tuners to your hand if necessary, but chances are u want the Tuner to actually USE to synchro summon something. It's just a hell of a long way to go to set up a move that may only actually work out very very occasionally. In the meantime - u are wasting deck space on something that will wind up dead in your hand more often than not. ... MUCH more often than not.

Skip it.

Cards of Consonance:

This card doesn't have many targets right now. 15 that I count. But... there are some cards coming that this card works very well with: the Dragunity monsters. Alas, we do not have these cards yet, so Consonance can't reach it's full potential. Right now, you can use it to dump a Debri Dragon you may not need or maybe even an Exploder Dragon if you happen to be using that card, which is unlikely. It does have benefits in a Blue-Eyes White Dragon deck. You can use it to dump The White Stone of Legend, thus turning into a plus one, as you get 3 cards for 2. Of course one of those cards will be Blue Eyes White Dragon, but in a deck focused on him, that's what you want... right? Super Rejuvenation could combo with this card, but we need better targets for it first.

Traditional: 1.5
Advanced: 2.0 (it's a draw 2 card, I couldn't go lower than 2...)

Name: Cards of Consonance

Type: Normal Spell

Text: Discard 1 Dragon-Type Tuner monster with 1000 or less ATK to draw 2 cards.

Well, this should be short.  Being a Normal Spell is “good”.  The nature of this game rarely factors how hard it is to play a card against how useful its effect is – you know, balancing them and what not – so even though Spell cards are the easiest to play, there is no limit on how powerful their effects can be, or required balancing cost.  Sure, being a Quick-Play Spell would be even more useful, but Normal will do.  The effect is pretty typical as of late: do something and draw two cards.  In this case, the cost is actually restrictive: you have to discard a Dragon-Type Tuner monster with 1000 or less ATK.  There are currently only four Dragon Tuner Monsters available in English that can fill that cost: Debris Dragon, Flamvell Guardian, Majestic Dragon, and The White Stone of Legend.  There are more in Japan, but I have no idea when we’ll see them.

Is what we do have enough?  I think so.  The White Stone of Legend is even depicted in the art work, and using it as the discard will also net you a Blue-Eyes White Dragon.  While Blue-Eyes White Dragon is hardly the most useful card, it is something.  Given the large amount of high level Dragons, you might be able to populate a deck with mostly high Level ones like Blue-Eyes White Dragon and the above Tuners (less Majestic Dragon).  A bit crazy, but it would allow for six draw cards (three Cards of Consonance, three Trade-In).

You aren’t going to see it in all Dragon decks, but expect it in a few.
