Ice Queen

Sorry I missed the first couple cards this week, but it looks like the rest 'o the crew did well on that. Anyways, today's card is Ice Queen, one of the GX Ice themed cards. She is a level 8 with 2900 ATK and 2100 DEF on a Water Spellcaster. This is not the greatest start for a card, as level 8 cards need to be able to be Special Summoned, and this one cannot Special Summon itself. 2900 is darn nice ATK though, and can really do some damage if you get her out.

You know how I said she needs to be able to be Special Summoned? She cannot be Special Summoned from the graveyard, which means that we are VERY limited as to how she can be played. The effect however explains everything. When she is destroyed on your side of the field and sent to the graveyard, you can add 1 Spell card from your graveyard to your hand if you have 3 or more Spellcasters in there.

The no-Special Summon ability means that you are very limited as to how you can bring her out. Magical Dimension comes to mind, but that is about it outside of Tribute Summon, which is bad Yugiohz. I do not know what they were thinking she could be used with as far as comboes, but anything that is even remotely possible is destroyed by the limitations of her level and no graveyard special summon effect. It is NOT DMoC and it is a very poor substitute at best.

Ice Queen …

Well … it’s COOL looking, that’s for sure! … heh heh heh …
Anyways, Ice Queen has a whopping 2900 ATK. Pretty nice. 8 Stars. Excellent for Trade-in as well, since it will most likely be dead weight in your hand at one point or another. She’s a Spellcaster, which helps as u will most likely want to be using Magical Dimension to get her to the field, since u CAN’T shortcut her from the graveyard, and u don’t REALLY want to be tributing 2 monsters from the field … although, the 2 monsters u tribute may be adding the number of Spellcasters in your grave to apply to the next part of her affect, and the main reason u would use her in the first place. If Ice Queen dies and u have 3 or more Spellcasters in your grave, u get to take a Spell card back to your hand. That’s pretty excellent. U always hate to have a big monster die, but that’s one of the best rewards u can hope for if it does. Dark Magician of Chaos recycled spells back to your hand. So did Magician of Faith, and we saw how people loves these two to pieces…

Ice Queen’s not SUPER kick-butt, but she’s pretty good. Strong with a great effect to make use of. If I had one and was playing Spellcasters – I would throw one in for muscle. But I wouldn’t go outright SEEKING this card.
Ya know? … huh? … Ya KNOW???
Lol

Ice Queen has got to be one of my favorite cards in the game. Beautiful and cool, my kind of combo. Yes, I just called her beautiful, but seriously, the cards cool. Ice Queen is a level 8 spellcaster that can't be special summoned from the graveyard. This isn't a problem, since you can special summon it from the hand or deck. Reasoning would pull it from the deck if you hit it, and Magical Dimension makes for an easy special summon from your hand. Since she's also level 8 you can use Trade-In with her, which means you can add some speed to whatever deck you may be running Ice Queen in. She has a solid 2900 attack, decent defense of 2100 and when shes destroyed while you have 3 or more spellcaster monsters in the graveyard, you can add a spell in your graveyard to your hand. Recycling a free Heavy Storm or draw card couldn't hurt, and most likely your opponent would have to destroy her with a card effect or at least use a card effect to rid the field of her, making it more likely to get your spell card back. Ice Queen again is one of my all time favorite cards and she's pretty decent even though I don't think she should've gotten the secret rare treatment in Stardust Overdrive.

Ice Queen:

This is a nice attempt at a balanced DMoC... but it is just a bit too situational to really be worth it. Being a water monster, having to have 3 spellcasters in graveyard, having to be destroyed and sent to graveyard, and unsummonable from graveyard all help turn this card into trade-bait. There just isn't a use for it right now.

Traditional: 1.5 (they have better spells to re-use)
Advanced: 1.0
