~ Doll's House ~ Scott's
Challenge |
I'm doing this deck as a special "Challenge" fix. Last week Scott's brother, Andrew, came to stay with us for an evening. Of course, we played a few games of Pokemon. Well, we both agreed that Andrew's deck could use a little tweaking.
Scott (who likes to make everything into a contest) and I both agreed to do a fix on Andrew's deck (neither of us will see the other's fix before we post this). Scott and I have very different styles of play, so I'm sure we'll probably come up with some differing ideas on how to make his brother's deck even better. If you'd like, check out Scott's Serendipitous Saloon to see how they compare. =)~ Doll

4 Double ColorlessNotes: Andrew is a very good player and definitely has an aptitude for the game. He played the deck well, but there were some changes I felt could really help. I used my Dark Muk tournament deck against him. Dark Muk did his job well, poisoning and trapping his Pokemon. I was a little nervous at first when I realized he was running Psychic (definitely NOT Dk. Muk's favorite pal), but still came out on top with little problem, thanks to Energy Removal and Gust of Win(d).
Andrew was using the Char line for it's colorless attacks, which actually worked very well. His Charmeleon was definitely annoying, and he had an abundance of energy, so I had to pick and choose the greatest threats to remove, while leaving the lesser threat to come up against Dk. Muk or Chansey. Since Psychic was such a bane to me, I went after that, leaving Charmeleon out there doing 30 damage a hit... ouch! Thanks to Potion (yes, I run it in my DM deck) and plus power, I was finally able to put down his big 80 HP'er, and lived to fight another active.
Andrew was running Kadabra as a 50 damage beatdown... I think Kadab is often overlooked in the shadow of Alakazam, but is actually pretty formidable. 60HP is his weakness.
Let's see what we can do here.
Pokémon:
I really want to keep the essence of Andrew's deck intact. I don't feel his choices were a problem, and worked fairly well. The one element I *will* add is Alakazam. Since he is already 2/3's of the way there, might as well bench one in for his awesome Damage Swap ability.
Trainers:
I'm going to adjust the numbers a little bit, and dump the Super Potions (Zam's Pokemon Power should help instead) to make room for some important trainers. Speaking of Alakazam... Pokemon Center works great with him to remove excess damage on the bench. Switch becomes vital with high HP evolved pokes. No Removal Gym is important here, as Andrew saw as I controlled his lethal Pokemon that way.
Energy:
I'll take the Psychic count way down to make room for trainers.
New Deck Listing:

2 Charmeleon (base)
3 Movie Promo Mewtwo

And that's it. I think I did a fair job of keeping Andrew's deck pretty close to what he started with, yet giving him a few more tools to make it more viable in today's environment. I'm betting that Scott's fix will be a lot more extensive, but that's his style (and since he wins, how can I argue with that!). =) Hey, Scott: I bet Andrew likes *MY* fix better, 'cause I'm a lot *CUTER* than *YOU* are! HA!!!
Love you anyways, Babe!
