Remember a time, many years ago, when there were
only four copies of Gold Sarcophagus out there? You
may not remember this, but there was a time. This
is Different Dimension Capsule, but all but
invincible, as this doesn't stay on the Field while
you wait for the card you selected. I really don't
see why you would ever want to play more than two of
these, assuming you have more than one copy to use,
or even the one copy itself. The play of Gold
Sarcophagus steadily declined, it's not that it got
any worse, or even replaced by anything else.
Waiting two turns for access to anything from your
Deck? Not seeing a downside here...

Gold Sarcophagus has always been a huge
preference card, from its Gold Series 2 mass release
to its commoners' reprint in the Duelist Revolution
Special Edition.
The Sarc turns into any card in your deck, with the
only cost being that you have to wait a few turns.
This is such a blessing for decks that need an ace
card, but unlike the very inferior D.D. Capsule, the
opponent gets to see what card you're getting.
This means that something like Dark Hole or Solemn
Warning (look at you, being rich) isn't going to
work very effectively, as the opponent will be
alerted of their presence. That takes a huge amount
of versatility out of this card, and not just
because the state of the duel can change so quickly
that your Sarcophagus may open too late. A common
move is just to take something like Monster Reborn.
But is it worth it? You should try it yourself. It
depends on how stable your deck is, and how quickly
you need that certain card.

Art: It's tilted a little.
Fun Fact: Jaden technically lost that first duel
against Crowler.
Tomorrow: A card for people with no skill.

Gold Sarcophagus, where do I begin? The ability
to get any card from the deck is huge, even with a
two turn delay. It makes every combo or control
oriented deck more consistent. It is rather slow for
some aggro decks though.
Unfortunately for Gold Sarcophagus, two things have
been happening recently. First, the meta has become
more fast paced. This means that it's entirely
likely you won't survive long enough to see the card
you chose get back to you. Second, Pot of Duality
was released. The new Pot gives every deck increased
consistency just like Gold Sarcophagus can, but
without the wait. It's less specific than
Sarcophagus, but that's not as important to many
decks. Of course, a lot of players will play
Sarcophagus and Pot together to make combo decks
incredibly consistent.
Traditional: 3/5 It can set up certain Dark Magician
of Chaos OTKs, but otherwise is too slow.
Advanced: 4/5 It can give almost any deck an
advantage. It's just a bit too slow for today's
game, so keep it in decks that can survive the two
turn wait.
Hey Pojo, Assailant here with your Card of the
Day. Today's card is Gold Sarcophagus. Gold Sarc has
a very simple effect; take one card from your deck
and remove it from play. On your second standby
phase after activation, add said card to your hand.
There are few cards simpler. In short, if you have a
win condition in your deck (such as: Final
Countdown, Wave-Motion Cannon, Frog OTK, Empty Jar,
Exodia [Actually, you probably shouldn't use it in
Exodia anyway {Who freaking runs Exodia
anymore?}]) you should almost certainly run this
card. It shall thus add consistency and BA-ness to
thou deck. No guarantees (or refunds) about that
last one.
On the other hand, if you run a very fast,
no-win-condition deck (Such
as: Six Sams, Frogarchs, etc.) you probably
shouldn't run it. Nuff'
said? Thought so.
