Welcome to our first of at least two weeks of
cards that have had their status changed on the Ban
List. However, we have an exception, as
today's card is essentially left over. We have
another Xyz Monster, Number 34: Terror Byte.
Remember too, however relevant it is or is not,
there are Monsters of the Xyz who are only able to
be destroyed in Battle by other Xyz Monsters who
have a Number in their name. Anyway, Terror
Byte is a Rank 3, Dark Attributed, Machine type
Monster, with 0 attack and 2900 defense, who is Xyz
Summoned with three Level 3 Monsters. That is
a large investment for a Monster. So, the
attack, which doesn't exist, is awful, but 2900
defense will stand up to a lot. Now, once a
turn, you can discard an Xyz Material from Terror
Byte, to control one Level 4 or lower Monster your
opponent controls, until the End Phase.
I am all ready unimpressed. Likely you would
take a Tuner or something to Synchro, and the three
card investment to perform the Xyz Summon just
doesn't seem to yield enough of a reward. A
massive defense isn't enough to win this card any
contests.

Number 34: Terror Byte
Is Number 34 as terrorizing as it seems? Yes. Or no?
You need 3 level 3 monsters to make it, while
Leviair and Leviathan only need 2, making them super
abusable with Tour Guide from the Underworld. The
control effect is a bit limited, too, as a
once-per-turn effect that only grabs low monsters in
attack mode. It's also really hard to summon, and
Terror Byte is easily removed by Chaos monsters.
It's not going to be very useful in the coming
format.

Art: It already has an alternate art promo in Japan.
Fun Fact: No Rule 34 in this review.
Tomorrow: We're reviewing cards that were changed
around on the ban list.
Back to GENF to start the week, Number 34
Terror-Byte. This card would be great if not for his
summon requirement. Requiring 3 level 3 monsters to
alphabet summon means that a lot of resources are
going into this monster that has 0 attack and 2900
defense. The utility of a Mind/Brain Control
on an opponent’s level 4 or lower monster is superb,
but again 3 monsters seems like too much of an
investment, especially with dueling gymnastics
needed to summon and protect 3 level 3 monsters.
Rating
Today’s card is a Xyz monster that requires 3 level
3 monsters. It doesn’t have any attack, but makes up
for it with a solid 2900 defense. Decent stats if he
didn’t require 3 monsters to make. His effect is
pretty cool, but it must target a level 4 or lower,
face-up, attack position monster. If he could steal
any monster your opponent controlled, then I would
consider playing it. Using 3 monsters for this
Terror-Byte doesn’t seem worth it to me. I can’t
really think of what deck will consistently have 3
level 3 monsters on the field. It fits really well
in Crashbugs, but then that means you have to play
Crashbugs. Cool card, interesting effect, but
overall not that good.

GrimroX
Makina
Number 34: Terror-Byte
This is a new Rank 3 Xyz Monster from GENF. This guy
was designed to work the new Crashbug archetype,
which uses Super Crashbug to flip ATK and DEF (note
how Terror-Byte is a 0/2900). Anyway, on his own,
Terror-Byte is actually quite good. By detaching 1
Xyz Material, he steals one of your opponent's
face-up Level 4 or lower monsters. So he's basically
a semi-Brain Control with a huge defensive body.
Brain Control is banned for a reason, and there are
a lot of useful Level 4 and under monsters to be
seen floating around the field, so his effect is
especially useful. And Sangan's ruling as an Xyz
Material makes it even better. The only thing that
holds him from being really good is his requirement
of three Level 3 monsters, but that shouldn't be too
hard.

Alchemist
Number 34: Terror-Byte:
We have here a rank three Xyz Monster that requires
three level three Monsters in order to make it. With
zero ATK points, this monster won't be attacking any
time soon.With a commanding 2900DEF, it best have a
nice effect. Once per turn, by simply detaching a
material monster, you can gain control of one of
your opponent's level four or lower monsters. Well
now, it has a built in Brain Control but restricted
to four or lower. Nifty.
Overall, you would most likely see this to be of
some use against an Anti-Meta deck as they generally
have level four or lower monsters, sitting around
the field. Or, maybe against Lightsworn or Twilight
variants.
Other than that, all the other decks will usually
Hurp Durp bigger monsters before you even have a
chance to get three Level three monsters on the
board.
