Tour Guide From the Underworld--who didn't see that coming?  Let's see, like yesterday, she can Special Summon another Monster, when Normal Summoned, although this is pretty specifically geared for XYZ, as it specifically can't be used to Synchro (at least the Monster Special Summoned via this effect.)  She can Special Summon herself, hence instant Rank 3 XYZ.  The Monster must be another Level 3 Fiend type Monster, but no problem.  This is one of those lovely cards that about single-handedly (or in multiples of itself) wrecked the game.  It's a special card.

It is time to review the money card of 2011. Tour Guide from the Underworld propelled the decks it works in to the top of the food chain. Plant, Chaos, Fiend, and some hybrid decks all got a big boost from Tour Guide. The ability to go from a small 1000 attack monster to a 2500 attack monster, thin the deck, and fill the graveyard with monsters for use with Pot of Avarice or a Chaos monster is just too good not to have in the right decks.

Tour Guide came out right before Xyz monsters started coming out, so the plan for this card was foretold in advanced and it has lived up to its expectations. Simply summon Tour Guide, special summon another from your deck or Sangon, and bam, thank you Ma’am, Wind-Up Zenmaines or Number 17: Leviathan Dragon. Life can not get any better than that. Unlike Rescue Rabbit, we are not left with vanilla monsters that clog our hand. If you need to search for a card, do not Xyz with Sangon. Instead, put it in defense and your Tour Guide essentially becomes a 1500 or less attack search monster.

I do not know about you, but when I make a deck, I like to pack it out with broken cards. If you take Tour guide, Reborn Tengu, Maxx “C”, and the Extra Deck cards from out top 10 and add in other broken cards from the Limited List, you get the Plant/Synchro and Chaos decks that are so dominant in the game today.

NUMBER 1, NUMBER 1 NUMBER1!!!! Coming in at the top of our list of best cards of 2011, is a card that needs no introduction, but will get one anyway, Tour Guide of the Underworld. Wanna know how hot this card is? A single copy goes for over $120 on ebay. It's so popular and high in demand, that it's getting its own bus in Order of Chaos....ITS OWN FRAKING BUS! I shouldn't have to go over its stats and effect, you all already know what this card does and its stats. If that's not enough, she's as cute as the dickens. Overall, this card does what it does well, Xyz summoning like no one's business. If you have this card, you're doing on of three things with it, using it, trading someone their entire binder for it, or in a card sleeve waiting to be sold on ebay. Tour Guide of the Underworld pulls her bus into the number 1 spot on our best cards to be released in 2011, now I can only hope she picks up hitchhikers *Sticks out thumb*

We have reached the #1 card and surprise, surprise it is Tour Guide from the Underworld. It is an inherent plus 1 that leads to more if you special summon Sangan. It creates a rank 3 Xyz with a normal summon much like Debris Dragon and Junk Warrior make synchro monsters with just a normal summon. It is fodder for Chaos and is run in almost every top deck: Tour Guide Plants, Tour Guide Agents, Dino Rabbit.

Angelic Nightmare

Let’s face it; this card being at number one was painfully obvious for most.

Tour Guide from the Underworld
Fiend/ Dark/ Lv 3/ 1000 ATK/ 600 DEF

When this card is Normal Summoned, you can Special Summon 1 Level 3 Fiend-Type monster from your hand or Deck. Its effects are negated, and it cannot be used as a Synchro Material Monster.

This card is basically a one card rank 3 XYZ monster. Summon Tour Guide and search for a level 3 fiend, and xyz into a rank 3. The options this car has for xyz options are just ridiculous: Leviar, Leviathan, Zenmains, and Zenmaighty once Order of Chaos is released. This card almost single-handedly broke the meta and is currently sitting at about $180 bucks a pop. Granted the price will either drop or raise depending on the infamous ban-hammer (assuming the OCG gets this card) or how well Tour Bus from the Underworld does in tournament play.

In top tier decks, this card is ran as a play set along with a lone copy of sangan to ensure viable targets for Tour Guide’s effect/

This card is an answer to almost any situation you are faced. Does your opponent control a stronger monster? XYZ into Leviathan. Need a good defender? Wind-up Zenmains. Need something that has been banished? Leviair, the Sea Dragon. Not to mention that also in Dark World Tour Guide can special summon Broww as bouncing fodder for Grapha.

Some counters to this card: Effect Veiler, Double Summon, Thunder King, DoomCaliber Knight, King Tiger Wanghu, Vanity’s Emptiness, Solemn Warning/Judgment, etc.

Pros: One card xyz monster, easily searchable, TOUR BUS!

Cons: the monster it summoned can’t be used as a synchro material monster.

Traditional: 4/5
Advanced: 5/5  (only if running 3 and with Sangan)

Tour Guide From the Underworld
Lv. 3/DARK/Fiend/1000A/600D
"When this card is Normal Summoned, you can Special Summon 1 Level 3 Fiend-Type monster from your hand or Deck. Its effects are negated, and it cannot be used as a Synchro Material Monster."

For the top card of 2011, we have another deck-thinning card. TG works best in an XYZ deck as she can search out other LV. 3 monsters to use as material for said XYZ. There's about 10 Rank 3 XYZ monsters already with more to come, so that makes for a fair number of possibilities.

Outside of XYZ decks, TG works wonders for deck-thinning, esp. in DARK decks, helping you get to Dark Armed Dragon, Black Wing synchros (if you have Vayu in your hand), or in zombie or Dark World decks to reach your key cards sooner.

There's a lot to love about this obnoxiously cheerful guide and it's easy to see why she's the #1 card of the last year.

Tour Guide from the Underworld

Here is the top card of 2011, and for good reason. Lets start from its release date though shall we? We all read the card, and knew it would be a good card eventually since Exceed were a new mechanic and it would obviously get loads of cards for it. One of the first big events it was able to be used in made an impact right away, even though XYZ’s weren’t legal. It was able to grab Sangan and basically gave you a free search in the deck. This alone made the card go up in value, and all of this was before the ruling that you can detach Sangan from an XYZ and its effect would trigger. That part was fixed, but XYZ’s are becoming a huge part of the game now, so she will be a force here on out guaranteed. She fuels Avarice, your chaos monsters if you use them, one copy gets you an XYZ monster, it has everything and needs to be touched eventually without a doubt. Sadly, if you are or want to be competitive, you need 3 of these or you basically cannot compete.
