Dark Smog is a very interesting Trap card, that I'm
thinking is just screaming to be abused by a Fiend
player. Say specifically perhaps even a Necrofear
Deck? This Trap in Continuous, which is a boon for
any card of that nature. Now, this seems simple
enough. You can target a Monster in your opponent's
Graveyard, discard a Fiend-type Monster from your
Hand, and the selected Monster is removed from your
opponent's Graveyard. In a Fiend Deck, filling the
Graveyard can be a very good thing. Being able to
remove opponent's Monsters is also a great thing.
Prevents combos, and can be annoying if you can get
this going early enough. I like it, but I'm not
sure if its something I should expect to see...like
a Fiend Deck.
Ratings:
3.5/5 in its Deck...I don't think you necessarily
have to build a Deck around this card, but it
wouldn't hurt.

Dark World and Fabled decks get an upgrade with
our card of the day, Dark Smog. I am still waiting
for the day when someone makes a Fabled/Dark
World/Chaos deck. That combination of destruction,
hand control, synchro power, and removal has to be a
force to be reckoned with. Note that Fabled’s are
Light Fiends and Dark World’s are Dark Fiends so
Dark Smog works with both deck types.
The great thing about Dark Smog is that it can be
used once on your turn and once on your opponents
turn and that it works against the top tier Meta
decks. Treeborn Frog, Dandylion, Glow-Up Bulb,
Spore, Elementals, and Light and Dark monsters all
become targets for removal robbing your opponent of
targets, effects, and materials while giving you an
advantage from your monsters.
The problem that I see with Dark Smog is that it is
a continuous trap card. That makes it fair game to
mass destruction cards like Heavy Storm, Malevolent
Catastrophe, Black Rose Dragon, Judgment Dragon,
Icarus Attack, and others. While its removal effect
can cripple your opponents strategy, it is a
negative 2 (Dark Smog and the card you discard)
unless you can combo it with a card in your hand.
Dark World and Fabled decks are not known for good
hand management so having the right card in hand to
discard could be a matter of luck. The other problem
as mentioned is that it is a combo card and I am not
a big proponent of combos as you rarely have
everything you need to make them work. Then there is
top decking. For those reasons, I am not going to
rate this card high, but in the right deck, it may
be a staple.

First off, sorry for not being here yesterday.
Things got a bit busy here for me. Today we're
looking at Dark Smog. A Trap card of the continuous
kind. Once per turn you can target one monster in
your opponent's graveyard, discard one Fiend type
monster and banished the targeted monster. Overall,
not a bad addition to the Dark World type, after
all, discard is Dark World's favorite word. Played
right, you could disrupt your opponent's strategy
graveyard tactics slowly over time while getting
your Dark World effects. But this is not the format
for this card, as triple MST and Heavy Storm are
always lurking about. If you have this card and are
using Dark World, hold on to it till the next
format, then this card might get a better score.
Traditional: 1.5
Advanced: 2 In a different format, I believe this
could have done better.

“The forecast for Dark World
today is mostly darkness with a chance for Dark
Smog”.
Today, we have a card that
doesn’t exclusively support Dark World cards but is
clearly intended for them, Dark Smog. This is a
continous trap that lets you discard a Fiend and
banish one card from your opponent’s graveyard. The
discarding isn’t a cost though, so Dark World
effects will activate. Usually, this card will be
used to banish the problem cards in combos. Glow-up
Blub, Spore, strong monsters while your opponent
hasn’t used Monster Reborn, etc. And since this card
is a trap, it may be used during either player’s
turn.
Just like the Gates of Dark
World, this is generic Fiend support. One downside
is that you can’t search for this with Snoww. But,
this could be a useful tech (especially in a DW
mirror match).
Traditional: 2/5 (graveyard
disruption slightly more useful)
Advanced: 3.5/5 (for tech & side deck status)
Art: 5/5 (I’m totally sure Goldd plans to
“help”, I mean “assist” Ryko. Totally.)

Continuous Trap
"Once per turn: You can target 1 monster in your
opponent's Graveyard; discard 1 Fiend-Type monster
and banish that target."
As if Fiends and especially Dark World decks
needed more support, you can now remove pesky cards
from the opponent's graveyard. This card works very
well against Chaos, Herald and Dark World decks,
giving them the ability to remove pesky cards and
delay the opponent from getting the cards they need
into the graveyard. Well worth side decking in
today's meta if you run Dark World or decks that use
lots of fiends.
