We open a week with a card, a card with a three
word name, and the first and third words should
sound familiar to any veterans fo the game. Tribe
and Virus are coveted words on a card some people in
the game may not have had a fortune to play. But
remove the word "Infecting" and insert the word
"Shocking," and you have todays
card...Tribe-Shocking Virus. TSV is stronger than
the original TIV, if only by 100 attack, although
they have the same defense. 1700-1000 vs 1600-1000
for the unintelligent, stop me if I'm going to fast.
This is a Water attributed Monster, of the
Thunder-type, which seems counter productive. But
makes sense I suppose, Thunder, Shocking, I can see
it. Now, TIV requires a discard to destroy all of an
attribute, TSV requires you to remove a Monster from
your Hand, and all Monsters of the same type as the
removed Monster are destroyed. That's certainly a
nifty to aspect. Sometimes having to remove a
Monster can be a problem, but this can be good.
There are a million and one ways to return about any
Monster you remove with this effect back to your
Hand, Graveyard, or Field. I like this, a lot.

We kick this week off with a Tribe-Infecting
Virus wantabe called Tribe-Shocking Virus. In
keeping with the Konami tradition of printing
watered down versions of broken cards, we have a
card whose costs and limitations prevent it from
being a great card. These limitations are: One you
loose a card from your hand, two it has to be a
monster, three it is banished, four it only destroys
monsters of the banished cards type, and five
Shocking only has 1700 attack and will probably not
survive the next turn or get to use it’s effect ever
again. That is a lot of strikes against this card.
Now let’s look at the positive aspects of
Tribe-Infecting Virus. The most glaring positive to
this card is that it is awesome in mirror matches as
you are playing the same types of cards as your
opponent. However with 1700 attack, it probably not
going to last more than one turn so you need to
destroy more than one card to break even or better.
You could use DNA Surgery to destroy all of your
opponent’s monsters, but we have that problem of
card advantage loosing 3 cards.
Shocking Virus is a great side deck card for an
Elemental Warrior mirror match-up. It is a water
monster so it can be used for Absolute Zero and it
removes other materials from play to be used with
Parallel World Fusion. Against a machine deck, D.D.
Scout Plane is the perfect banishing choice.
Banishing also works wonders with monsters like
Leviair and Dimensional Alchemist.
Deck themes that could possibly main deck
Tribe-Shocking Virus include Wind-Ups, Twilight, and
T.G. decks. Wind-Ups have Beast-Warrior’s,
Machine’s, Beast’s, and Warrior monsters. Twilight
has Warrior, Dragon, Spellcaster, Fairy, Beast,
Fiend, and Beast-Warrior monsters. T.G. decks have
Winged-Beast, Beast, Beast-Warrior, Warrior, Auqa,
Psychic’s, and Dragon monsters. With Twilight, you
can mill and then Monster Reincarnate the monsters
you need and with T.G. and Wind-Up decks, you can
search for what you need with the T.G. monster
effects or the effect of Wind-Up Factory.
Tribe-Shocking Virus’s limitations are too much
to overcome to main deck it and with the limited
space in the side deck and the abundance of good
deck types in the current Meta, it is hard to find
room in the side deck for it.

A new week means a week worth of reviewing new
cards. Today we're looking at Tribe-Shocking Virus.
Virus is a level 4 Water/Thunder type, with 1700 ATK
and 1000 DEF. Tribe's effect is a bit of a throwback
to a banned card from way back, Tribe-Infecting
Virus.Once per turn, you can banish one monster card
from your hand destroy all face up monsters on the
field with the same type as the banished monster.
Right way, Tribe's effect will also destroy your
monsters as well, so use with caution. This card was
made for the side deck, for that occasional mirror
match. With 1700 ATK, it can win a few fights here
and there, and with its effect, can strike directly.
If you're using a deck that is popular, such as
Plants, Zombies, Samurais, Dragons and others of the
like. This is a side deck worthy card to get around
your opponent's monsters, you have a copy, find a
spot for it in your side deck, but only if you think
you'll be facing decks similar to yours.

Tomorrow: I hope I can get these guys to fix the
pothole up the block from me.

Tribe Shocking Virus
Water/ Thunder/Lv 4/ 1700 ATK/
1000 DEF
Once per turn: You can banish 1
monster from your hand; destroy all face-up monsters
on the field with the same Type as that monster.
Today we are looking at Tribe
Infecting Virus’ younger sibling. At first glance
this card seems to be really good, easy outs to
decks that give you problems. Once analyzed deeper,
you realize that this is a very situational card
based on the type of monster you banish from your
hand. The most common deck types that you see almost
a pure build of are Jurracs, Watts, Psychic,
Karakuri, and Dark World.
In order for this card to be
used effectively, it is best paired with a deck that
runs DNA Surgery to change all face up monsters on
the field to a card you want to banish from your
hand. As much as this card wants to be like big
brother TIV, it falls short of being a playable card
in today’s meta. At best, this MIGHT be worth
side-decking, but that still might be ill-advised.
The one place that will have
this card coming in handy would be in draft
tournaments, but not too many people enjoy that kind
of format.
Pros: Destruction
Cons: Situational at best

Hey all sorry I haven't been able to do these for
the last few weeks, with school and all. But on a
happier note it's my BIRTHDAY!!!!
For my birthday we have Tribe-Shocking Virus
Once per turn: You can banish 1 monster from your
hand; destroy all face-up monsters on the field with
the same Type as that monster.
Not one of the better cards we have, I only really
see this card being used a Zombie World build

"Once per turn: You can banish 1 monster from your
hand; destroy all face-up monsters on the field with
the same Type as that monster."
To start off the week, we have Trive-Infecting
Virus' little brother. While the effect of wiping
out a lot of monsters can be good, it's the cost and
limited scope that hurts this card's usefulness. You
can't be guaranteed that your opponent will get out
several monsters of the same type that you have in
your hand, and that also limits what cards you use
in your own deck if you want to hurt your opponent,
not to mention the fact that you'll be hurt by the
effect as much as they will, should you both run the
same types of monsters.
Too narrow an effect for this card to be truly
useful.
