You can Special Summon this card (from your hand) by Tributing 2 monsters with 2000 or more ATK. During either player's Battle Step, when this card battles an opponent's monster: You can banish that monster and this card. Return the banished monsters to the field at the end of the Battle Phase. If the monster banished by this effect was an Xyz Monster: This card gains 500 ATK for each Xyz Material that monster had attached to it when it was banished.
We start to close out the year with our
traditional Top 10 cards of the year, and coming in
at #10--Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon. We have a Level
8, Light attributed, Dragon type Monster, with 3000
attack and 2500 defense, both are quite good for a
Level 8 Monster. Now, to state the obvious, Level 8
requires two tributes, which immediately turns most
people off of a Level 8 Monster, especially with
Synchros and XYZ Monsters running rampant. For a
plus, you can Special Summon Galaxy-Eyes Photon
Dragon from your Hand by tributing two Monsters with
2000 or more attack. The tribute aspect doesn't go
away, but the Special Summon is nice, and this
combos at least potentially with Monday's card, as I
previously alluded to. Now, during either player's
Battle Step, you can remove this card and the
attacking or attacked Monster from play until the
end of the Battle Phase. This Monster gains 500
attack for each XYZ Material card equipped to an XYZ
Monster, if that was the type of Monster removed.
Galaxy-Eyes certainly has a place in the meta
today, if only with the XYZ staples being played.
The removal aspect is nice, even with 3000 attack,
to protect itself. It won't do anything against
Black Luster Soldier, or anything that removes, or
obviously doesn't Battle--but I still like it, a
lot.

We're ending the year on pojo with a look at the
top 10 cards of 2011, and starting out at number 10,
is a card I thought would have been a little higher
on this list, Galaxy Eyes Photon Dragon. One of my
personal favorite card ever, Photon Dragon is a
level 8 Light/Dragon type with 3000 ATK and 2500
DEF. What can I say about quite possibly the best
Dragon to come out in 2011....its stats make it very
hard to defeat in battle without using some kind of
card effect. Galaxy Eyes's effects, while it is a
lot of text, makes it powerful and hard to get rid
of. This card can be special summoned from your hand
by tributing 2 monsters you control with 2000 ATK or
more. During either player's battle step, when this
battles with an opponent's monster, you can banish
that card and Photon Dragon, both cards return to
the field at the end of the battle phase. If the
monster banished by this effect was an Xyz, this
card gains 500 for each Xyz material the Xyz monster
had. Photon Dragon has a lit of uses and can make a
home in a few decks. Photon decks are an obvious
choice, but there are a few other options. Dragons
can gte a lot of out this card, as there are a lot
of other ways other than tributing two 2000 ATK
monsters and a well built dragon deck can get it out
quickly. Light variants, Batteryman, even a certain
Rabbit can Rescue normal decks. Chaos builds or Dark
World decks can get out Photon Dragon. A great card
and worth on our list of best cards of 2011.

We begin our Top 10 Countdown of 2011 with
Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon!
Now, why does this card merit our attention? Well,
it is a very strong card and can be pretty hard to
remove from the field. Not only that. but there's
some sentimental value to it. Photon Dragon is very
similar to the Blue-Eyes White Dragon in its values
and name. To some casual duelists, that's good
enough for them.
In ORCS, you're likely to see this card ran with
Ninjas. Their Super Transformation card makes
summoning this a breeze and Photon's effect reduces
the drawback to nothing.
A good-looking card (especially in Ultimate!), full
of nostalgia and power, you can see why it's one of
our favorites.

Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon
The card is very interesting in my mind, but just
not in the current game that we have. You will look
at the effect, and most will think it is pointless
or very hyped and for good reason. Having to tribute
two guys with 2k+ attack is somewhat hard right now,
and that isn’t even looking at the more than likely
-2 in advantage to drop this guy. Even if you had
the tributes, more than likely you are better off
keeping your guys. I always take a look at every
card and what they do, I then sort them into one of
three piles: Playable/Broken/Fun, Potential in
Future, and Rubbish..This card simply has potential
going for it and nothing more, sadly the effect
isn’t of any use right now
