The Golden Apples, a Trap that I really would want to like.  In short, if you take Damage while controlling no monsters, you get a Malus Token (Fiend, Dark, Level 1, ? attack and defense) and the attack and defense of said token equal that of the monster that attacked you.

Realistically, this card probably will see little to no play, ever.  If you're in this situation where you can actually use this card, it probably isn't very much help to you anyway, and worse yet, your opponent almost certainly has a way through or around it.

The Golden Apples... don't eat them. This is the new Gorz, the major differences being that you take no damage, and you can still hold up defenses. If you ask me, this is much better than Gorz in decks that don't like to leave themselves open. If you like your Field spell/use continuous cards/use Call of the Haunted for Synchro Summoning, you won't want to use Gorz. Other cases, it's a good idea to use him.

Because you can still have defenses up when you use The Golden Apples, a huge amount of potential is opened up over Gorz, even though you only get one monster, not two. People are usually prepared for Gorz, but the Malus token is much harder to anticipate. You could remove the attacking monster with Dimensional Prison or create a clone of it with The Golden Apples--it's your choice, and because it's a choice, this card has potential.

3.5/5

Fun Fact: This is called The Friggin' Apple.

Golden apples. This card isn’t one of my favorite secrets for this set, but it does have its ups and downs. Basically, the effect of this card says that when you take battle damage with no monsters, you may gain the damage back and special summon a token with the gained life points as its attack and defense. This card is not bad. The reason this card will not see play though, is that it is over shadowed by cards like mirror force and d-prison. Since people will be packing cards like that, this card will not really have a place. And unfortunately, this card is situational; you have to have no monsters on your side of the field. So overall, the only main reason I would ever use this card over d-prison is so I could say “how do you like them apples,” when I beat them with it.
