Dark Paladin |
Forbidden Lance, a Quickplay Magic card that
makes a monster (whilst face up on the Field)
impervious to Magic and Trap cards, until the End
Phase, by reducing said monsters attack by 800
points. First, that is totally a spear, not a
lance...maybe that's why it's forbidden?
So, let's say this is being used on Synchro Monster,
or something else powerful, say on average maybe
with 2500 attack. Now you have a monster with
1700 attack, quite easier to destroy, but if you're
going to destroy a monster to start, why don't you
use a card that will do that instead of this?
Even if you all ready had an answer to destroying
said card, you can't use it until the turn after you
use this, remember? I'm not really thinking
this is all that worthwhile...
1.5/5 all, again

Forbidden Lance wants to become the next Book of
Moon. Forbidden Chalice didn't work quite as well.
With the Lance, any monster loses a few ATK points,
even the opponent's. Or, you can use the protection
effect on your own monster. Book of Moon is a weak
card, but its versatility is what makes it a
top-tier card. Could Forbidden Lance do that, too?
That depends. It attacks or defends, but when it
defends, that monster won't be able to do much. I
would say that the ATK reduction, in combination
with the protection, makes the card versatile enough
to warrant a spot in your deck.
4/5
Art: This lady loves chalices and lances.
Fun Fact: There's a card that's corn.
Tomorrow: DSF-like prices.

Assailant
The
Legion |
Hey, Pojo, Assailant here with another Card of
the Day for you. Today's card is a quick-play, spell
card called Forbidden Lance. This card allows you to
select one face-up monster on the field, and, until
the end phase, have it be unaffected by spell or
trap cards.......at the cost of losing 800 ATK. Now,
losing 800 attack is nothing to sneeze at, which can
actually be a good thing with this card. WHY?? I'm
glad you asked. The reason being, this card says 1
face-up monster which translates to: ANY face-up
monster. That means your opponent's as well. So, if
your opponent's monster is swinging at you, you can
use this card to lower their ATK by 800, usually a
fatal happenstance for said monster. It can also be
used to make one of your monsters immune to magic
and trap for a turn, generally more useful thing on
your turn when your opponent’s monster can't run
over your -800 monster and you want to avoid their
nasty back-row. That being said, if need be, it can
be used when your opponent plays his Dark Hole,
Smashing Ground, etc.
See? Versatility FTW.
Traditional: 3.5/5
Advanced: 3.5/5
Art: I wonder what this does...

Today's card is possibly the most hyped single
card in Storm of Ragnarok. Forbidden Lance is a
Quick-Play Spell, reminiscent of Forbidden Chalice.
The Lance will decrease the attack of any monster by
800, and leave that monster entirely unaffected by
other Spell or Trap cards until the end of the turn.
Where do I start? This card is simply put,
amazing. Firstly, 800 ATK is enough to take out
plenty of threats. Stardust Dragon becomes a measly
1700, Brionac is a perfectly manageable 1500, and
most 3- or 4-star monsters are now weak enough for
Sangan to defeat it.
We've had ATK buffs and debuffs for quite some
time, and they haven't made an impact on the
competitive scene for quite some time, outside Kalut
and Honest. This is where Forbidden Lance stands
apart, because you can use it on any monster
(including your own) to keep it completely safe from
Spells and Traps. Your monster will be weakened, but
completely immune to Mirror Force, Bottomless Trap
Hole, Dark Hole, Mind Control, and even Counter
Traps like Solemn Warning and Gladiator Beast War
Chariot (Just remember that you must play Lance
before those are activated, as they are Spell Speed
3). You can also use it on your opponent's monsters,
to make them unaffected by Equip or Field Spells for
the turn, as well as getting the ATK decrease. For
the first time since Imperial Order, we have a
reliable, splashable counter to Book of Moon. Thanks
to Forbidden Lance, your Synchro Summons will go
unopposed.
Forbidden Lance can be easily splashed into all
kinds of decks, but it should be noted that it is
especially good in Gladiator Beasts. Not only do
they need all the protection they can get, but they
can abuse that 800 ATK decrease probably better than
any other archetype.
Traditional: 1/5 It probably won't be so useful
here, the game is too fast paced.
Advanced: 5/5 Suddenly, those Books of Moon are
looking a lot less appealing.
Art: 3/5 This poor girl looks anorexic.
