Top 10 New Cards of 2010
#5 - Drill Warrior
#ABPF-EN041 "Drill Synchron" + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters.
Once per turn, during your Main Phase, you can halve this card's ATK (permanently). If you do, it can attack your opponent directly this turn. Once per turn, during your Main Phase, you can discard 1 card and remove this card from play. During your next Standby Phase, Special Summon this card, if removed by this effect. Then, add 1 Monster Card from your Graveyard to your hand.

Monday
Continuing the Top 10 Cards of 2010 Countdown, we
come to Drill Warrior. We have a Level 6,
Earth attributed, Warrior Type Synchro Monster, who
is specifically Synchro Summoned with Drill Synchron
and one or more non-Tuner monsters.
Drill Warrior has 2400 attack and 2000 defense, both
terrific stats for a Synchro monster of his level.
Now, you can permanently half the attack of Drill
Warrior, once per turn, to allow him to attack your
opponent directly.
Secondly, during the Main Phase, you can discard a
card to the Graveyard, and remove this guy from
play. Then, during your next Standby Phase,
Special Summon this card, if you had removed it by
its own effect.
Then, you get to add one Monster Card from your
Graveyard to your Hand.
So he likes to recycle, which is fun. Drill
Warrior I actually really like, and it's a plus that
if you half his attack, but remove him, when he
comes back, he's at 2400 again.
Ratings:
Traditional: 3.25/5
Advanced: 4.25/5
Art: 4.5/5 He could totally be a fusion
of Mega Man and Zero, but will Drills...

Boy, it sure is 5/5 Week around here.
As we enter the Top 5 Cards of 2010, people begin
remembering that Pojo has a main site. Drill Warrior
is my second favorite card in the game
(WATAPON!!!!!), and for good reason. Quickdraw was
the first deck I built in the March-ish format, and
has been my primary deck ever since. I use an
Ultimate Rare Drill Warrior, which looks amazing. I
got it or $20 before Quickdraw really took off, so I
get to avoid the bandwagon tool hate.
Drill Warrior has made a massive impact on this
game, as Quickdraw decks run on him. He gets you any
monster in your grave--Dandylion for two free tokens
that make Formula Synchron, that Super-Nimble Mega
Hamster you need for a sturdy defense, or even
Debris Dragon to destroy EVERYTHING. Except Drill
Warrior.
Furthermore, Drill Warrior is the reason why the
deck makes it so high in tournaments--STABILITY.
Against Stall, he gets you what you need and hits
right past the opponent's defenses. 1200 every turn,
along with your free monsters! Drill Warrior alone
completely shuts down decks that rely on the
opponent being alive. Cards like Goblin Zombie and
Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter will never defend the
opponent from this Synchro.
You haven't seen the last of Drill Warrior. He'll be
in ur metagame, stealin ur heart until Dandylion is
Limited again.
5/5
Art: Drill, baby, drill!
Fun Fact: 1 (One) Drill Warrior completely defeats
Crystal Beast decks. Aaaw...
Tomorrow: How'd it make #4? This card is crap.

Puppet Master
The
Legion |
Drill Warrior is an amazing card all around,
especially so in plant and monarch decks. Pretty
much any deck that runs reoccurring one star
monsters. Drill warrior’s ability can easily help
you to construct many mean combos as he can deal
1200 direct damage per turn and can remove himself
from play. On top of that, when he comes back, go
ahead and take any monster card from your grave and
add it to your hand, how could this card not be in
the top 10? Though the best part of this card still
has to be when Jeff Jones ran it for the first time,
surprising everybody and taking 1st place at a YCS.
And card that can do that is game changing enough to
deserve a spot on the top 10 list.

The
Legion |
Continuing with our countdown at number 5 is
Drill Warrior. What is there to say? He’s the card
that makes Dandy Warrior go. He started as another
crappy Synchron Synchro that no one cared about.
Then Jeff Jones pioneered the Dandy Warrior deck to
the top, and this valueless promotional card
skyrocketed, hitting a max of around 40 bucks. Then
it got reprinted and now it’s only a buck, but it’s
still a very useful card in a deck that can use him.
The ability to hide during your opponent’s turn and
poke directly is great, plus he lets you recycle
your dandylions. Definitely one of the defining
cards of the year.
Traditional: 3.5/5
Advanced: 4.5/5
Art: Pointy!

My review of Drill Warrior
Quite the card, made the Quickdraw deck actually
viable and not a failure like others.
Mainly because of the abuse it has with Dandylion, a
difficult combination to disrupt for the average
player, unless he somehow, magically, gets DD Crow
in his hand.
It can be used with other cards, but is at its best
just looping Dandylion to set up an infinite, very
unfair defensive wall.
It gets a 4/5 in terms of playability in Advanced.
