Vortex the Whirlwind, a Level 5, Wind attributed
Synchro Monster with 2100 attack and 700 defense
(both of which suck, even for a Level 5 monster.)
Synchro Summoned with a Tuner and one or more
non-Tuner monsters of the Winged-Beast variety.
For the game breaking effect here, when Vortex is
destroyed by Battle, you can Special Summon a Level
4 or lower Winged-Beast type monster from your Deck.
That effect isn't terrible, but I don't see why you
would waste a Synchro just for that. If you're
playing specifically Winged-Beast, then he does well
what he does, I suppose.

Vortex the Whirlwind
Despite his name... and his looks... and his
effect... Vortex the Whirlwind is NOT a Blackwing,
so Vayu can't summon him out of nowhere.
That out of the way, Vortex is still VERY powerful.
If Shura destroys a monster and summons a Blackwing,
it'll probably be Vayu. When it's Vayu, you won't
have anything better to summon than Catastor and
friends. Vortex gives a good-enough 2100 that ties
with Cyber Dragon, and it has a recruiting ability
as well. It turns Shura into Vayu in grave and a big
recruiter on the field. Not a Blackwing, but still
pretty good.
4/5
Art: Man in a chicken suit, again.
Fun Fact: This is the Sneak promo for Storm of
Ragnarok.
Tomorrow: His pre-Chancellor days.

The

Today’s Card is Vortex the Whirlwind, a
relatively weak 5-star synchro. Being level 5, it
needs to compete with Catastor and Android if it
wants to find a place in that jam-packed extra deck.
It requires a Winged Beast non-tuner, which
instantly drops its playability. It has poor stats,
and its effect doesn’t make up for them. When it is
destroyed by battle and sent to the grave, you can
special summon a 4 star or lower winged beast from
your deck. Unless you’re playing Blackwings or
Dragunities, you’re not likely to be able to easily
make this synchro, and even if you are playing one
of the aforementioned deck types, you’ll likely have
much better synchros in your arsenal to use instead
of this guy.
Both Formats: 1/5
Art: You shall not pass!!!

The
Crowing |
Here we have the pseudo Blackwing. Vortex the
Whirlwind, he is a WIND attributed level 5 Winged
beast Synchro that requires 1 tuner and 1 non tuner
winged beast monster.
He comes out at 2100/700 and when hes destroyed by
battle you can special summon 1 level 4 or lower
winged beast monster from your deck.
He's not a blackwing, but he offers a lot of synergy
with the deck, Blizzard+Kalut=Him. And when he dies
by battle, which is likely considering his low 2100
attack, you get a level 4 or lower monster.
Pretty good
Traditional - 1/5
Advanced 3/5
Art- Totally a Blackwing.

Vortex the Whirlwind
Vortex is the new promo you get for attending the
Storm of Ragnarok sneak preview, so it shouldn't be
too hard to get ahold of some. It's a WIND Winged
Beast, level 5 synchro, with 2100 ATK and 700 DEF.
The stats are decent for a level 5 synchro, and it's
supported by Icarus Attack or even Dark Simorgh by
being a WIND Winged Beast. If he's taken out in
battle, you can summon a Level 4 or less Winged
Beast from your deck.
The main place this card works is Blackwings,
obviously. You can summon Vayu with Shura, and make
Vortex. Most people would prefer Catastor in this
scenario, but Vortex does have his advantages, the
main one being it's not as useless against DARK
based decks, and can be used with Icarus Attack if
needed. Dragunities will be able to use Vortex as
well. Eith deck should be able to find room for a
copy of Vortex if they desire.
There's no special tricks from today's card, just a
plain old useful monster.
Traditional: 1/5 No winged beasts here.
Advanced: 3/5 Blackwings, Dragunity, or anything
with a few winged beasts could benefit from Vortex.
Art: 4/5 Although it's hard to see the current
pictures, it looks like it will be cool.
