Dark Paladin
Friday

Odin, Father of the Aesir closes the week.  We have a Light attributed Synchro monster, Level 10, with an incredibly 4000 attack and 3500 defense, who is a Fairy and Synchro Summoned with one Nordic Ascendant Tuner, and two or more non-Tuner monsters.

I'll skip the speech about specific Tuners here, as I went in detail with that Monday, and it's more or less the same here.  Once per turn, you can activate this cards effect during your Main Phase.  If you do, this card is invulnerable to the effects of Magic and Trap cards until the End Phase.

If this face-up card is destroyed by your opponent's attack or card effect and sent to the Graveyard (like Monday's friend) you can remove from play one Nordic Ascendant Tuner from yoru Graveyard to Special Summon this card from the Graveyard.

When Odin is Special Summoned in this way, you can Draw one card from your Deck.  While Monday's card dealt 800 damage when Specail Summoned, here, you get the far superior advantage of Drawing cards.  Odin is stronger and just better overall.  Likely the best of the three.

The Legion

Hey Pojo, Assailant here with your card of the day, and today's card happens to be Odin, Father of the Aesir.

The short review?: This card is EPIC. 'Nuff said.

The longer version: This card is freaking EPIC. Now I suppose I ought to explain why. Odin is a 10-star, Light type, Fairy, with a whopping 4000/3500 which puts him up at one of the most powerful base attack monsters in the game. He requires a “Nordic Ascendant” tuner for his synchro summon, along with two other non-tuner monsters. His abilities makes him into a nearly unstoppable force. If you so choose, he can be unaffected by any spell or traps until the end phase of your turn, so your opponent’s nasty, face down Mirror Force or Dimensional Prison just became more useless than Marshmallon against a Gladiator Beast deck. But wait! There's more. If he's destroyed by your opponent’s monster or card effect, you can remove a Nordic Ascendant tuner in your graveyard from play to special summon him. Oh, and then just to give the middle finger to your opponent, you get to draw one card. Now, if I remember correctly, you had to use a Nordic Ascendant tuner to summon him in the first place, so...Hey! That means you'll already have one to remove from play to summon him again. Hey! That means your opponent is almost certainly going to have to kill this Norse god of all monsters TWICE. Hey! That's just plain mean.

Plus, as a bonus, one of the two Nordic Ascendant tuners (that we know of) that are being released, is Nordic Valkyrie Ascendant a 2-star tuner, who makes Odin even more broken than he already is. Just to give you a brief overview of her effect, if you normal summon her while your opponent controls a monster and you control no other cards, you can remove from play two Nordic monster in your hand to special summon two “middle finger tokens” which just so happen to be 4-stars apiece. Now, I'm not a mathematician, but it looks to me like 2+4+4=10. Get the picture?
This card is not only one of those amazing beaters, but it also has the effects to keep itself alive and make it worth the resources you paid to summon him.

Art V.2: What exactly in the blazes IS he holding? Some kind of fishing rod on steroids?

Odin, Father of the Aesir

Odin is the big papa of the new Aesir cards. Being big papa means he is the strongest and most powerful of them all. Having a 4000 attack he will win just about every battle that confronts him. Having a some what of a "monster reborn" effect that allows him to come back from the grave if he some how loses a battle or gets destroyed is amazing. But as Uncle Ben from Spiderman once said, "With great power comes great responsibility"

That responsibility is on us trying to get all the requirements to summon this level 10 god. You see you will need 1 "Nordic Ascendant" Tuner + 2 or more non-Tuner monsters, which is a little bit much to bring him out. Especially if you already are able to bring out Thor. With such a high summoning requirement, I don't see him being played as much.

I'm sure I will still need to get a hold of one for little man. Have fun this weekend at your sneak peek.

Finally, we get to Odin to close out the week. First, let me just say that this guy is AWESOME.

Being a ten star Synchro Monster, he is easily brought into play with a lot of different cards, and there are decks being built around many of the combos, or incorporating them all even. Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen, Tanngrisnir of the Nordic Beasts, or a number of combos involving Vanadis of the Nordic Ascendant or Valkyrie of the Nordic Ascendant can easily bring Odin into the game. If you use Vanadis to dump another Vanadis, you can easily fill up on fodder for his revival effect.

In my opinion, the most powerful of all the Aesir monsters, Odin is capable of dominating the game entirely by himself. If your opponent does manage to destroy him, he'll just come back and let you draw a card.

While everybody is hyping the Legendary Six Samurai, make sure not to let the Aesir monsters get by you without notice. They're extremely powerful, and likely to make an impact in a tournament near you.

Traditional: 1/5 Too slow here.
Advanced: 4/5 Odin is ready to put a trident somewhere unpleasant. Beware.
Art: 5/5 You know he's powerful because of the beard.
