Thor, Lord of the Aesir
#STOR-EN038 1 "Nordic Beast" Tuner + 2 or more non-Tuner monsters
Once per turn, you can negate the effects of all face-up monsters your opponent controls, until the End Phase. During the End Phase, if this face-up card on the field is destroyed by your opponent's card (either by battle or by card effect) and sent to the Graveyard this turn, you can remove from play 1 "Nordic Beast" Tuner monster from your Graveyard to Special Summon this card from the Graveyard. When it is Special Summoned by this effect, inflict 800 damage to your opponent.

Monday
Opening the week, we start with a big card from the
new set, one of three new Viking Synchro monsters,
more or less the "God cards" of the 5Ds era.
These are used by Team Ragnarok (or whatever they
are called) in the World Racing Grand Prix, which I
believe starts in the next season of Yugioh 5Ds.
Keep in mind with most cards, there are all kinds of
anime support cards and combos that you will likely
never be able to pull of in the real world.
Thor, Lord of the Aesir, is a Level 10 Synchro
Monster, of the Earth attribute, and a
Beast-Warrior. He is Synchro Summoned with one
Nordic Beast Tuner, and two or more non-Tuner
monsters. Now, as for the Nordic Beast Tuner
bit...Vanadis of the Nordic Ascendant, without
delving too much into the card itself, can be
substituted as a Nordic Tuner for a Synchro Summon.
There are a handful of specific Nordic monsters,
variously used to summon not only Thor, but the
other two Synchro powerhouses of this "family."
These three Synchro monsters are kind of like the
Earthbound Immortal archtype, except they don't suck
nearly as bad. Svartalk of the Nordic Alfar is
a Nordic Tuner, but Level 5 and (supposedly geared
for Loki.)
As for Thor himself, you can negate the effects of
all face-up monsters your opponent controls, once
per turn. During the End Phase if this card
was destroyed by Battle or by card effect, you can
remove one Nordic Beast Tuner from your Graveayrd
from play to Special Summon Thor. When done by
this effect, inflict 800 Damage to your opponent.
See, the point here is that you have these monsters
in the Graveayrd so you can use the effect, if
necessary. 3500 attack is more than enough to
take care of about anything and the 2800 defense
will stand up to plenty as well. If memory
serves, this guy is in the middle as for the
attack...anyway, it's hard to rate the card, it
needs it's own Deck. If you can do it, and
plenty will be doing it, but you have to do it well.
3.5/5 its own Deck

Here start off the week with one of the new
Nordic Synchros, this one is Thor. An EARTH
attributed Level 10 Beast Warrior Synchro that
requires a Nordic Tuner and 2 or more non synchro
materials. Wow thats quite a feat to bring out. So I
dont know how good Nordics are, but I assume they
could reach level 10 fairly easily. So once you
summon this guy, then what?
Well once per turn he can negate the effects of all
faceup monsters your opponent controls until the end
phase. Well this is fairly useless, unless your
opponent has a Stardust Dragon on the field, your
opponent wont have any monsters with effects that
can be activated on your turn. It only hits faceup
monsters so youll still have to be afraid of Ryko.
Whenever hes faceup on the field and destroyed
either by battle or your opponents card effect and
sent to the grave, you can remove from play 1 nordic
beast tuner monster from your grave to special
summon him from your grave and inflict 800 damage to
your opponent.
Well considering you used a nordic beast tuner to
make him, you are gurenteed at least 1 revive, but
the thing is, he needs to be faceup on the field and
destroyed for this effect to work, so if he's
warning'd he cant come back, or bottomlessed either.
Mirror Force and Torrential still work though, so
theres that, but I dont see this effect working very
often.
This card is a mess, level 10, specific tuner
requirements and lackluster effects, at least he is
a beefy 3500/2800.
But unless Nordics become super amazing, I'd pass
this one up

Today's card was being punished by Odin so he
lives a secret life as a doctor.
Thor, Lord of the Aesir. Well, he's pretty
gigantic. For some reason, the Thunder God is an
EARTH Beast-Warrior, not a Thunder type. 3500 ATK
beats down on everything that isn't his dad Odin.
2800 DEF is pretty good too, blocking everything
outside of Gottoms or Red Dragon Archfiend. He can
act as a pseudo Plasma on your turn, and if he's
destroyed, he can be revived at the End Phase by
removing a Nordic Beast tuner. Then, he does a
little burn damage. These effects, combined with his
whopping stats, make Thor a force to be reckoned
with.
Being a level 10 Synchro Monster that requires a
Nordic Beast tuner might make it seem like he's hard
to play, but it's honestly not that tough. Using
Tanngrisnir of the Nordic Beasts (many of these
names unconfirmed in TCG), you can get two 3-star
tokens to your field. You can then combine these
with Guldfaxe of the Nordic Beasts, which is the
only current Nordic Beast tuner. You can also use
Vanadis of the Nordic Ascendant, who can open up
numerous other ways to get him in play.
Thor's main problems are that he's simply
outclassed by Loki and Odin. Negating monster
effects is good, but Thor only hits face-up monsters
on your own turn. He can't protect himself from a
Ryko he attacks, or a Caius they summon next turn.
He's also still vulnerable to spell- and trap-based
destruction, which is more common than monster-based
destruction. That's where Loki and Odin surpass him.
They also have better effects to activate when
revived. Thor's 800 free damage is welcome, but is
nothing compared to retrieving a trap or drawing a
card. Loki and Odin also have better typing to
support them. Good Beast-Warrior support is
practically non-existent.
Traditional: 1/5 No chance here.
Advanced: 2/5 His Aesir family can do his job better
than he already. He's not all bad, just outclassed.
Art: 5/5 Thor knows how to be a total boss.
