#9--Battle Fader

You know how sometimes a card just really strikes you as interesting, regardless of how good or bad it may be? That's what Battle Fader does to me. Battle Fader is indeed quite the interesting card, and does exactly what it's name suggests, at least to a point. We have a Dark attributed, Level 1, Fiend type monster, with 0 attack and 0 defense.

However, you probably are never ever going to use Battle Fader to attack (obviously) or even defend your Lifepoints. Not in a defense position anyway. When your opponent attacks you directly, you can Special Summon Battle Fader from your Hand. Monsters don't often bring themselves to the Field to protect you, let alone ending the Battle Phase.

This immediately ends the Battle Phase, which in a word, is awesome.
Furthermore, if you Special Summon Battle Fader in this manner, it removes itself from play when it is removed from the Field. I think Battle Fader is a beautiful Tech card and you might be seeing more of it than not.

Card number 9 on the list is Battle Fader. Now, everyone and their Grandma should know what BF does, so I won't even bother explaining it. He was one of the biggest expected cards from ABPF, and, until being reprinted as a promo, was one of the more expensive cards of the set. BF can be useful in almost any deck, especially decks that use Caius, or any monarch really. He also gives a nice new tactic for stall/burn decks. Though there's no doubt he's a good card, his problem is that there are just too many better things that most decks can run instead of him, so he only really sees play in decks that can use him well (kind of like smashing ground). But what he does, he does well.

For this card, I am sorely tempted to rant on about my hatred of it, but I am an impartial reviewer. I can want to take every Battlefader from every person who plays it and burn them all in a furnace, but this is a website about reviewing the practical abilities of cards. Not about petty grudges.

Hmm, Battlefader, its a useful card, ends the battle phase and gives you a free monster to tribute for, as I am loath to say, Caius, the majority of the time.

Powerful card, it has definite advantages if you can play it right. It is mostly played in those Black Salvo decks with a lot of other "card advantage" cards. It is...not one of my favorite decks.
