This week we're reviewing some Generation Force
cards, starting with Gagaga Magician. This is a
Level 4, Spellcaster type Monster, with 1500 attack
and 1000 defense. Now, once per turn, during your
Main Phase, you can declare a Monster Level (1-8)
and this cards Level becomes equal to that until the
End Phase. This would be great for Synchro
Summoning except this isn't a Tuner (not the end of
the world) but what is, is the fact that Gagaga
Magician cannot be used as a Synchro Material
Monster...Anyway, obviously the use here is for XYZ
Monsters and Summoning, as some of the new ones do
require much higher Levels than Level 4 and below as
we currently see. You can only control one face-up
Magician at a time, so that adds a little balance I
suppose. Outside of XYZ, I see little to no use for
this card.
Gagaga Magician kicks off our Generation Force
Week. This Magician typifies Xyz support. Its effect
allows it to change its level once per turn to
anything you need from 1-8. This allows you to run
the gambit of Xyz in your extra deck. Being a DARK
Spellcaster is nice but it won’t really matter much
and neither will its attack and defense, due to you
will be using it to Xyz summon the moment you summon
it. And this card has great design balance, you can
only control one at a time and it can not be used
for a Synchro summon.
Our first review of Generation Force, Gagaga
Magician has nothing that really stands out other
than its name. A Dark Spellcaster, the attribute is
great and the type is decent, but with 1500 attack
and 1000 defense, it better have an amazing effect.
Unfortunately, that isn’t the case here. This
magician can change its own level during your main
phase, but cannot be used as a synchro material
monster. This card is obviously supposed to be used
for Xyz summons, but since there really is no good
way to summon this monster (other than normal
summon), it may not be ideal to play this card. You
may be able to use Gagaga as pretty much any Xyz
material, but there are better cards out there to do
it. If you could have more than 1 on the field at a
time or if it could be used as a synchro material
monster, then it might be better.

Gagaga Magician
This is Generation Force week, and starting it is
(Lady) Gagaga Magician. This card can change its
Level to anything from 1 to 8, but it cannot be used
as a Synchro Material Monster. If it can change its
Level, but can't Synchro, it must be Xyz Monster
Support. Basically, he...she...it(?) allows you to
make just about any generic Xyz Monster you want. It
may be somewhat useful in basic Xyz-based decks, but
it probably won't see play too much, since there are
a lot of decks that can drop at least two monsters
with the same level much faster.

Skyphantom
and we come to generation force week, and with
Yuma's favorite monster: gagaga magician, with a
rather average 1500/1000 body on a dark spellcaster,
both good. Now, what lady gaga magician can do is
change his/her level from 1-8 once per turn, but
can't be used for synchro material for obvious
reasons. He is great for exceeds, opticamoflauge
armor, or advance draw. Hell be interesting to see
what people do with him.
