Happy US Independence Day Pojo! Trap Stun starts
our shortened Gold Series 4 Pyramids Edition week.
It’s a simple card with a simple effect. This card
negates all traps, both active and set, during the
turn it is activated. Smart duelists will use this
card to turn off opposing traps and their own
oppression (pictured), to set up their field, and
end with strong field presence. Simple card with a
simple effect that goes a long way, did I mention
that it looks really nice as a gold rare?

Trap Stun:
One of the new Gold Rares in Gold Series 4. Trap
Stun is basically a one-turn Royal Decree. I like
this card because it lets you play with a standard
Trap lineup without any liability. If you run a deck
that can explode on any turn, throw a couple of
these in so you can drop that OTK once you get your
cards set up. It has its advantages and
disadvantages compared to Royal Decree. This card is
really good for one-turn big plays and lets you use
a normal Trap lineup (i.e., Warnings, Judgment,
Mirror Force, etc.), and is less susceptible to
Mystical Space Typhoon. Decree is good for a
long-term effect and exerts more control over the
game, so you can keep making your plays without
worrying about dangerous Traps, but it's vulnerable
to cards like Trunade and the prior-mentioned MST
and your other Traps will be VERY limited. Depending
on what kind of deck you run (X-Sabers most likely),
you could make good use of Trap Stun if you like to
make big game-winning plays. This is also one of the
few Gold reprints I actually care about.
Traditional: 3/5 (NOW NOTHING CAN STOP MY CHAOS
EMPEROR DRAGON!)
Advanced: 3/5 (Good card for X-Sabers and other
decks that like to make mid-to late-game pushes)

Happy freedom day Americans, today, we are
talking about some of the gold rares in gold series
4. Here we have the titular trap stun. First used by
Crow in the 5Ds anime, it shuts down other traps for
the turn, effectively making it a 1 turn royal
decree. There's nothing to complain here besides its
obvious brokenness in decks such as x sabers and
blackwings. Id give this a decent score.
Today we review one of my old enemies, Trap Stun.
Similar to Cold Wave and Royal Decree, Trap Stun
basically let’s your cool shenanigans go through for
the turn. I saw this a lot in X-Sabers back when
they first got really good and boy did I hate it.
They would always bring out Faultroll, I’d chain my
Oppression, and then they would chain Trap Stun.
Hyunlei would finally make his way to the field and
I’d be a very sad panda. Of course this was before
Warning was out so Trap Stun loses a bit of
playability. With all of the counter traps running
around (Warnings, Solemn Judgment, Divine
Punishment, etc.), Seven Tools of the Bandit is just
better to run.
I hope everyone had a great 4th of July, and this
week we're looking at Gold Series cards. Trap Stun
opens the week, a rather interesting, if not simple
Trap card. During the turn this is activated, all
other Traps on the Field are negated. I actually
don't see Trap Stun as a bad card, more toward the
opposite really. But would you play this over Jinzo
or Royal Decree, or other cards, for that matter?
How many Decks is this actually going to be
effective in? It actually is a solid Side-Deck
choice I think, and maybe useful as a piece of Tech,
but not something you're all too likely to
encounter.
