Sorry I missed last week everyone, I actually
took a vacation, which was awesome. Long story
short, my internet access during said time was
essentially non-existent. Tyr of the Nordic
Champions opens the week, a Level 4, Light
attributed, Warrior type monster, with 2000 attack
and defense, which instantly should make you think
there is a hinderance with this card, and there is.
There is some solid protection for the Nordics in
Tyr, as while on the Field, your opponent cannot
attack a Nordic monster other than this card itself.
With 2000 attack, that's a decent enough effect.
Now the downside we expected from a Level 4 monster
with 2000 attack, if you have no other face-up
Nordic monster on the Field, Tyr is destroyed. Now,
I assume this is on either side of the Field, as the
card doesn't specify "your side of the Field."
If you're playing Nordic anything, this actually
isn't a bad turn, unless obviously it's something
you have in your Hand say first Draw, or when you
have no other monsters on the Field.
Today's card is Tyr of the Nordic Champions. He's
a 4-star light warrior with 2000 ATK and DEF, which
is not shabby considering his level. While he's
around, your opponent can't select any other Nordic
monsters as attack targets, but if you don't control
any other Nordic monsters, he gets destroyed. A
somewhat good effect crippled by a bad effect.
Nordics have enough support without this guy.

Tyr of the Nordic Champions, a level 4 LIGHT
Warrior with 2000 ATK and DEF. Stats are great, but
are backed up by a lackluster effect and a terrible
drawback. Your opponent cannot attack Nordic
monsters other than Tyr of the Nordic Champions,
which is neat, but does not allow you to create a
lock with two of them in play. If there isn't
another face-up Nordic somewhere on the field, Tyr
is destroyed.
Considering many of the monsters in the Nordic deck
would prefer to be attacked, like Tanngrisnir, and
Tyr isn't really terribly strong, he's rather
useless. Perhaps a copy or two could work in some
builds for some beatdown, but you would usually
rather just play another Nordic Beast or a tuner of
some sort.
