Meklord Army of Granel
LV4 1600/1200
This card gains 100 ATK for each face-up "Meklord"
monster you control, except this card. When this
card is Normal Summoned, you can halve the ATK of 1
face-up monster your opponent controls until the End
Phase.
A very good card, inside the Meklord archetype and
outside. By now, everyone should be aware of
the Meklord Emperors and their hate for Synchro
monsters. Meklord Army of Granel doesn't
necessarily hate Synchro monsters, just whatever
type of monster the opponent has out when you Normal
Summon it.
The effects are really self-explanitory. The
100 ATK boost is nice. Some people may look at
it and say "Pssh, you will probably get +100 half
the time...Who cares?" That is a silly
argument, as without the ATK boosting effect, it'd
still be a good card. It's just an added
bonus. The second effect is what you will be
using this card for. The turn you summon it,
it acts as a Blackwing - Gale the Whirlwind.
Summon it, attack over Scrap Dragon / Stardust
Dragon / Pretty much whatever you want. On the
down side, the halving effect goes away at the end
of the turn, so if you fail to destroy the monster
you halved, it returns to normal, so keep an eye out
for Bottomless Trap Hole or Dimensional Prison.
So besides Meklords, where else will you find this
card? I'd be surprised if it doesn't start
showing up everywhere in Machina Gadgets. It's
a Machine, so you get access to the benefits of that
(Machina Fortress, Limiter Removal), and it's a
solid attacker which the deck desperately needs.
Sometime the deck just scoops to a Stardust Dragon,
especially when you're topdecking and can't stall
your way into a Machina Fortress.
At the end of the day, it's not a spectacular,
game-ending, format changing, rage-inducing card,
but rather a balanced card that adds support to
decks that could use it. Between this and the
last few cards I've reviewed, I'm actually impressed
with Konami's card design. *Gets reminded of
Reborn Tengu* ... Nevermind that last thought.

Merklord Army of Grannel
What is this dude? Like really? Some strange UC
Gundam reject. Anyway today we have Merklord Army of
Grannel. Hes...very alright. But thats about it,
just alright. 16/12 are decent stats...but only
decent. His ability is really amazing. Might as well
rename him Merklord Gale- Army of Blackwing Biteoffs,
because he has Gales cut atk/def in half effect.
However his comes when he is normal summoned which
is both good and bad depending on how you look at
it. Overall its still good, and allows him to run
over most synchros. The attack boost may be
alright but how often does a deck with Merklords
swarm? Outside of machine decks, a theme deck,
or....maybe some strange stun deck the dudes really
not all that impressive. However, with 19atk beaters
really back in style he may be a good random tech
card, but I feel hes outclassed by ....tons.
What army? Its one robot!

Meklord Army of Granel
One of the members of the recently introduced
archetype of Meklords, Meklord Army of Granel bears
a remarkable resemblance at first glance to a very
popular card: Blackwing Gale the Whirlwind. However,
closer inspection reveals that it is not quite as
useful.
The Traditional format has no need for attack
reduction cards, much less ones that are limited to
being Normal Summoned to work.
In the Advanced format, it is a little different.
While Gale was limited both for its powerful effect
and ridiculous ease of Special Summoning, Granel
offers little of the same benefits. It eats up a
Normal Summon, but in turn is slightly stronger than
Gale attack wise, and can take down slightly larger
monsters as a result (smashing heads with up 3200
attack). Being a Machine-type monster is also a bit
of a plus, but it’s almost complete lack of utility
outside of that single Normal Summon (presuming no
Ultimate Offering shenanigans), is quite
restrictive. It might be limited to only its own
archetype, or as a tech card in Gadget-like decks
that can make the most use of its effect.
