You can Tribute 1 face-up "Wind-Up" monster, except "Wind-Up Hunter"; send 1 random card from your opponent's hand to the Graveyard. This effect can only be used once while this card is face-up on the field.

Didn't we just have a Wind-Up week? A couple
months ago...I guess that sounds right.
Wind-Up Hunter, a Level 3, Beast-Warrior type
Monster, of the Dark attribute, with 1600 attack and
500 defense opens the week. Didn't I say
during the last Wind-Up week it was strange that any
of these Monsters aren't Machines? Anyway,
once, while face-up on the Field, you can tribute a
face-up Wind-Up Monster you control, other
than himself, to randomly discard one card from the
opponent's Hand to the Graveyard. The Wind-Up
archtype really interests me. On it's own, I
just don't see it as all too powerful. I see
many of the cards as splashable tech however.
As for the Hunter here, Hand discards are good, 1600
attack is respectable on a Level 3, I'd say it's a
must for the Deck.

I’ll be your freak-a-zoid,
come on and wind me up. Good thing there is no music
on these write ups because I can’t sing a lick. It’s
time to get our toy soldiers wound up and ready for
battle. The first wind-up toy we will be reviewing
is the Hunter. But before do, we need to talk about
Wind-Up decks in general. The whole strategy behind
Wind-Ups is to Xyz summon like crazy. As we get
bigger and better Xyz monsters, this strategy will
get even better. Let me also point out that there
are several Wind-Up monsters, Xyz’s, and support
cards that we do not have yet, like Wind-Up Rat,
Honey or Honeybee, Warrior, and Zenmaighty. We have
seen how strategies based on powerful synchro
monsters can dominate the format, so it is not
unreasonable to assume that one based on Xyz
monsters can do the same.
Each Wind-Up monster has a unique effect that can be
useful in certain situations. We will be spending
the rest of this week discussing many of those
effect monsters. Wind-Ups also have the ability to
special summon more Wind-Ups to the field and
several Wind-Ups can even change their level. This
enables them to Xyz summon at a fast pace. One
important thing to note is that when you activate
their effects, they do not have to remain face up on
the field to resolve their effects.
Now that we have a good idea of how a Wind-Up deck
works, let’s discuss our first card. Wind-Up Hunter
can tribute another Wind-Up to send 1 random card
from your opponent’s hand to the Graveyard. It seems
counterproductive to the Wind-Up strategy to waist
your Xyz materials. The first thing that comes to
mind is; how do I abuse this card? It would seem
that Konami has already predicted this abuse and
made it so Wind-Up cards can only be activated once
per turn. If we can have a turn where we have extra
special summons from the deck and/or graveyard and
we don’t need all of our Wind-Up monsters for Xyz
summons, then using Hunter’s effect might be
advantageous. Otherwise, I am not a big fan of
Wind-Up Hunter. There are more useful Wind-Up
monsters that fit our strategy better.

It's a new week here on
pojo, and I've informed by the all-mighty pojo not
to get all wound up, because it's wind-up week! Up
first is Wind-Up Hunter. Hunter is a level 3
Dark/Beast Warrior with 1600 ATK and 500 DEF. All
pretty good for a level 3 monster. Hunter's effect
is that you can tribute one other Wind-Up monster to
send one random card from your opponent's hand to
the grave. You can only do this once while Hunter is
face up. While Hunter's stats are pretty good, his
effect is really not the best. It works well against
Dark World and Fabled monsters, because it sends and
not discards, giving up field presence may not be
worth it, because you may hit a monster card that
your opponent may want in the grave, something that
can be brought back with cards like Monster Reborn,
Junk Synchron, Debris Dragon or even Dandylion.
While getting rid of something like a spell or trap
may sound tempting, giving up your other
wind-ups.....that's a price you have to think twice
about before paying.

It's toy week again with the Wind-Ups. Wind-Up
monsters have some interesting effects going for
them, but sadly, each effect usually only works
once. There's a way or two around that though, so
let's get to the first of the week's reviews:
Hunter is an alright card. Being able to reduce
your opponent's hand-size is always good, but
requiring a differen WU monster be tributed hurts
its usability. The attack stat is alright as well,
so hopefully he'll stick around for more than a
single turn.
Today we have Wind-up Hunter. One of my personal
favorite wind-ups I like 1600 attack for a lvl 3, he
is Dark and you can tribute a face-up wind up to
send 1 card from your opponents hand to the grave
could be good could be bad idk i dont play wind-ups
but the hand destruction could be good especially in
those annoying decks that keep drawing
