Pojo's Yu-Gi-Oh Card of the Day

Meklord Emperor Granel
#JUMP-EN052

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card cannot be Special Summoned except by its own effect. When a face-up monster you control is destroyed by a card effect and sent to the Graveyard, you can Special Summon this card from your hand. This card gains ATK and DEF equal to half of your Life Points. Once per turn, you can select 1 Synchro Monster your opponent controls and equip it to this card. This card gains ATK equal to those equipped monsters' combined ATK. During your Main Phase, you can select 1 of those equipped monsters, and Special Summon it to your side of the field in face-up Defense Position.

Friday

Continuing on the Meklord theme, Meklord Emperor Granel closes the week. Granel is a Level 1, Earth attributed, Machine-type Monster, with 0 attack and defense, or so it would seem. This card, as you saw yesterday, cannot be Normal Summoned or Set, and only Special Summoned by its own effect. This Monster Special Summons itself from your Hand when a face-up Monster you control is destroyed by a card effect. Now, for attack, Granel gains attack points equal to half of the opponent's Lifepoints. Like yesterday, you can steal and equip a Synchro Monster to this card, once per turn. However, unlike yesterday, during your Main Phase, you can select one of the equipped Monsters, and Special Summon it to your side of the Field. That's quite an effect right there, not just being able to steal an opponent's Synchro, but the potential to use it too. Like yesterday, it's not the easiest card to play, but it will certainly give your opponent hell if they can't deal with it.

Today’s card, Meklord Emperor Granel, is much like yesterday’s card Wisel except the rest of your monsters can also attack. It has a real easy summoning requirement. All you have to do is have one of your monsters on your field be destroyed. This destruction has to be chain link #1 (the last thing to resolve), and it cannot occur during the damage step. Another draw back is Effect Veiler and Skill Drain will reduce our monster to 0 atk & def for the rest of the duel. For those of you keeping track of the TV series, this card belongs to Jacob. I like Wisel more than this card, however in the right deck, one which gains life points or OTK’s, Granel may be the better choice.
There are several cards that immediately come to mind that will meet Granel’s summoning requirement. Black Rose Dragon, Torrential Tribute, Dark Hole, and Mirror Force are the cards that are the most prevalent in the game currently. These cards alone, may not be enough for you to tech this card in your deck, so lets take a look at some decks that this card would go well in.

Obviously, Meklord decks are made for Wisel. Meklord Factory allows you to add a Meklord Army monster to your hand, and then destroy a Meklord monster that was targeted for an attack and thus summon our monster. Playful Possum can be used every turn to summon our Meklords and Super-Nimble Mega Hamster and Sangon can help you search for it. With further Meklord releases, this deck type will only get better. Sense Meklord Emperor Wisel is a machine, we could use it in a machine deck with Limiter Removal. A Popular deck still in play today that Granel goes great in is Scraps as they are all about blowing things up. Scrap Dragon is a big instigator of Wisel. Try this neat trick. Destroy one of your monsters and an opponent’s card, summon Granel, then use creature swap to take your opponent’s monster and give them Scrap Dragon. Then absorb Scrap Dragon and attack for a lot of damage or special summon it, blow-up another card on both sides of the field and then attack.

There are plenty of other deck types that Meklord Emperor Granel would excel in. Try it in Malefic’s and Cloudian decks for some easy summons. You could also put this card in your side deck for use against decks that have a lot of destruction like against Gladiator, Twilight, and Scrap Decks. Maybe in time, Meklord’s will be a top tier, however for now the proof is in the pudding as my Mom used to say. That proof is that Granel is not see much play in any format, even with it’s added abilities to absorb Synchro monsters and special summon them.

The final card of JUMP week here on pojo is yet another pain in the rear for Yusei and his band of synchro users, Meklord Emperor Granel. Granel is a level 1, Dark/Machine with an ATK and DEF of 0. Granel may have the stats of Glass Joe, his effect makes him almost as dangerous as yesterday's card, Wisel. Granel cannot be summoned in anyway other than its own effect. When a face up monster you control is destroyed by a card effect and sent to the grave, you can special summon this card. Granel gains ATK and DEF equal to half your current LPs. Once per turn, you can grab one of your opponent's face up synchro monsters and equip it to Granel, and it gains ATK equal to all the synchro monsters that are equipped to it. And during your main phase, you can select one of those synchro monsters and special summon it to your side of the field in face up defense position to use for your own purposes. Just like Wisel, one of your face up monsters needs to be destroyed by a card effect, either yours or your opponent, to get on the field. Cards like Torrential Tribute, Hammer Shot, Black Rose Dragon and Scraps monsters will make sure Granel hits the field. Overall, this card can be just a big a problem as Wisel. I hope to see a competitive Meklord deck soon.

Not too difficult to get this guy out and if you get him out early enough during the duel, he can be pretty strong. Since synchros get used quite a bit, you can easily use his ability to make him stronger, then give yourself tribute fodder, XYZ fodder, or another line of defense until your next turn when you can use them to attack. Since the stolen and summoned monsters keep their effects, that's just icing on the cake.

Hello my fellow yugi-nerds! my apologies i have been gone all week but i will squeeze in enough time for fridays card my favorite mechlord: Granel!

we have a lvl 1 earth monster with 0/0 stats... well looks weak but lets read.

He can only be special summoned when a face up monster is destroyed by a card effect and sent to the graveyard, this his attack and defense are equal to half your life points!

Then you can take 1 of your opponent synchro monsters equip it to him and he gains attack equal to the attack of the monster! then during your next main face you can special summon it in defense mode!

With all the synchro decks i think its time for some synchro hate this guy can be summoned if your opponent rykos your monster, when doom cal destroys himself, when your opponent plays dark hole etc.
