Shard of Greed, a new Draw Magic card, is a Continuous Magic card, which we know get eaten alive this Format.  This card lets you place a Greed Counter on itself each time you conduct a Draw during your Draw Phase.  When this card has two or more Greed Counters, you can send this card to the Graveyard to Draw two cards from your Deck.  That is a +1.  Now, despite being a Continuous Magic card, this takes at least three turns to survive, to get its effect.  Statistically speaking, simply looking at your opponent having three Mystical Space Typhoon and a Heavy Storm, that's four cards out of forty, a ten percent chance of it getting destroyed.  However, this also doesn't count all the Monsters with effects to destroy Magic cards, or just cards on the Field.  It's slower than Pot of Duality, and Pot of Benevolance, but it's still worth using I think.

Greed is good. In Yu-Gi-Oh, you need to play by this saying as card advantage is essential to winning games. With Shard of Greed, we have a +1, but is it worth the trade off of having to wait 2 turns? Well, let’s take a look at another card that takes two turns to get its effect. Gold Sarcophagus takes two turns but it is only played in combo decks that need certain cards in hand to win. Since we do not see Gold Sarc being played in every deck, I doubt that we will see Shard of Greed in every deck, especially since Pot of Duality can be played in threes. Space is limited in most decks and there are simply better options.

That being said, there are decks that this card would be a good fit in. Let’s start with Exodia decks. With all of the draw power in the game today and in the next set (Momentary Truce for one), Shard of Greed is just one more (make that 3) card that will get to those 5 pieces of Exodia pretty fast. It works well with Royal Magical Library as well, so even if we do not get to two turns, we still get use of this card. Two turns may be all we need to draw Exodia.

Then there are decks that rely on continuous spell cards. Monsters like Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder and Dragon Queen of Tragic Endings can make good use of this card for its continuous effect alone.

With 3 Mystical Space Typhoons and Heavy Storm in the game, not to mention monster effects, Shard of Greed may not last long enough to pay off, however it could still serve to draw out those cards so your defensive cards can do their thing. I do not see this card as a staple in most decks so my rating is going to reflect that. Test it out in your decks and see how well it works for you.

It's day 2 of our look at a few cards from Photon Shockwave. This time it's Shard of Greed, and as soon as I saw this one, I knew pretty much this one is gonna be everywhere, even in my deck. Shard of Greed is a continuous spell card that says during each of your draw phases, place 1 greed counter on this card, when you have 2 or more greed counters on this card, you can send it to the graveyard to draw two cards. Simply enough, you place your opponent in a bit of a pickle. Do they either allow you to draw cards and getting what you need and saving their resources *MSTs, Heavy Storm, Dust Tornado*  for other things? Or do they use up what they have to make sure you don't draw? While this card is not Pot o' Greed, I think it's a good draw card and it'll make your opponent think about what to do next. Should your opponent use that Heavy Storm to get rid of Shard of Greed and a facedown or two? This card could make someone sweat. Is it a replacement for Pot of Greed or Duality? I think not, but I think it's a welcome little draw engine. It could be the new Pot of Greed into Graceful Charity combo *remember those days?*, Shard of Greed into Duality or vice-versa.

Traditional: 1 better and faster draw power here.
Advanced: 4 Tomorrow: Space Monarchy

Next off, we have an interesting new Spell from the upcoming Photon Shockwave set...

Shard of Greed is a Continuous Spell Card that gets a counter when you conduct your normal draw, and when it has two counters, you can get rid of Shard of Greed to draw two cards. Shard of Greed is a good card, released at the wrong time. In a format of three MST and Heavy Storm, it may not survive the turns you need. However, people these days don't run three MSTs, they use two and this card doesn't need to stay on the field indefinitely like a lot of Continuous Cards to function to its best.

This is a good card, slow, but good. A terrible dead draw late game, but early to mid game, this card either speeds up your plays with a +1 or acts as perfect MST bait so that you can Set your more important Spells and Traps without much fear.

Whether or not this card works and can be used effectively is to be seen. This card may be the ideal 'Lightning Rod' that decks that focus on face-up Spell and Traps need, or it maybe a horrible worthless flop.

Traditional: 2/5 - In a format of 2-card FTKs, do you really think this card will survive, let alone yourself?
Advanced: 3/5 - Will be interesting to see if this cards does anything in the format.
Art: 2/5 - A shard of the Pot of Greed. Meh.

Remember how Pot of Greed is a broken card? Well, now it’s literally broken … as a Shard of Greed!

Shard of Greed is a continuous spell card that is given one Greed Counter during each of your draw phases. Once you have two counters, you can send the card to the graveyard to draw two cards. Goody! Some draw support! But wait, we have a lot of S/T removal in this format, so this card is worthless, right?

Wrong answer! Shard of Greed can still be useful, even in this format. You’ll need to play more strategically than by the book. By playing this card by itself, you can bait out a reckless MST. Playing with one or two more cards facedown, you can start to draw (no pun intended) attention to your face downs or your shard. Your opponent might take all the cards as a threat and use Heavy Storm (removing an obstacle later when you start building your endgame up). “So why do this if Jar of Greed can chain?” you might be asking. Jar doesn’t make itself a target. Unless a Heavy is brought in, your opponent will choose one at random (or if they’re playing close attention, the one set down first). Shard is more convincing.

For more “by-the-book” book plays, Spellcasters can use this to tally up spell counters and draw power. Secret Village of the Spellcasters will make sure that Shard stays in play long enough to complete its job. Hamon decks can use this for summoning and draws when Hamon gets on the field.

Overall, this is a much more balanced card than the original. If it only needed one counter, it would have been too strong. Obviously, this card is a dead draw. But if you enterprise on its attributes, I think that it’d be just as good as the original. Keep an eye on this card through the formats. It was only last format when trap cards reigned supreme.

Traditional: 1/5 (you have pot here; why bother?)
Advanced: 3/5 (it is well balanced, but only works if you don’t demand immense speed)
Spellcasters and Hamon: 5/5 (for the reasons listed above)
Art: 3/5 (who broke Pot of Greed? I think it was Dream Clown)

Shard of Greed
Continuous Spell

The first thing that came to mind “Awesome, draw power!” and then I analyzed it further…. It takes you 2 turns to get a +1 off this card. At worst, this could be a 1 for 1 (your opponent uses an MST). There really isn’t much to it. If it’s out long enough, great! If not, at least it gets rid of an MST!
In all honesty, I can probably see this card being ran primarily in Stall/LockDown decks such as Herald. Try it out once it is released, I know I might test it out for MST bait.

Traditional: 1/5 (you have Pot of Greed and Graceful Charity)
Advanced: 2/5

Shard of greed......... -thinks of witty pun-

I honestly want to compare this to raigeki bottle, in this format all i see it good for is to divert your attention from the facedown Solemn you just set. this card is a SPELL card that requires SET UP and in the heavy triple MSTorm format spells have a life span shorter than a cookie in Santas hand

PROS
if successful lets you draw 2 cards
CONS
Everything

Traditional- 1
Advanced- 1
