Number 83:  Galaxy Queen, continues the week, and is one of the more interesting XYZ Monsters out there.  Galaxy Queen is a Rank 1 XYZ Monster, XYZ Summoned by three Level 1 Monsters, with 500 attack and defense.  This a Dark attributed, Spellcaster type Monster.  Now, Rank 1, and requiring three Level 1 Monsters, very likely to be all Tuners, we would expect a big effect.  By discarding an XYZ Material Monster, until your opponent's End Phase, face-up Monsters you control cannot be destroyed by Battle.  Furthermore, if your Monsters attack defense position Monsters, they gain the ability of Trample.  This isn't a bad card at all, but I would say it might get overshadowed by the fact that Galaxy Queen doesn't destroy, it merely protects.

Number 83: Galaxy Queen requires 3 Level 1 monsters that can easily be brought out by a myriad of methods. There are plenty of level one machine monsters that will work great with Machine Duplication, including a card we have already reviewed, Cyber Larva. Add to that, Unknown Synchron, Cyber Valley, and Turbo Booster and Machine Duplication will get to that Galaxy Queen fast. Another deck that can utilize Galaxy Queen easily is Frog type decks running Treeborn Frog, Battle Fader, and Effect Veiler. Inferno Reckless Summon can speed it along even faster. Heck, even Naturia Cherries can get most of what we need to make the Queen. And the list keeps going. We haven’t even touched on some of the new cards coming out in the next set, like Photon Veil.

So the big question is, is it worth going through all this hassle to bring Galaxy Queen out? I’m not so sure. For one thing, the monsters that cannot be destroyed by battle have to be on the field when you summon her. Chances are that she will be the only monster on the field and at 500 attack and defense; she is not going to do much good except for defending for three turns. With all of the destruction and bouncing we have in the game, she will probably not even last that long.

I’m sure there are some pretty nifty tricks out there somewhere, ether now or with the next set, but I just do not see it.

The middle of the week brings us to Number 83: Galaxy Queen in our preview of Photon Shockwave. This monster is the first Xyz monster that is a spellcaster type. Galaxy Queen is a Dark, Rank 1 and needs 3 level 1 monsters, with 500 ATK and DEF. Doesn't seem like much, but her effect is not too bad. Once per turn, detach one Xyz material to grant your face up monsters protection from being destroyed by battle and inflict piercing until your opponent's end phase. While not being destroyed by battle is good, added protection from at least monster effects would have made this card a bit more playable. Piercing is ok, if you have bigger monsters on the field. Getting three LVL 1 monsters can be a little bit of a chore, but with cards like Treeborn Frog, TCG-exclusive D-Boyz, One-for-One, Battle Fader and Mischief of the Yokai, makes meeting the requirements easier. What makes Galaxy Queen fall short is her effects. Not many duelists use piercing effects these days and her ability to protect destruction from battle is ok, but you still take damage if your monsters are in ATK position. This card falls just short of being really good, but just by a bit. Try it out, I don't think it'll hurt too much.

Today's review is on the Xyz Monster, Number 83: Galaxy Queen!

Galaxy Queen is a Rank 1 Xyz Monster that like all Rank 1 Xyz' (currently) needs three Level 1 monsters to summon. With 500 ATK and DEF it won't be winning you any battles on its won, but what it is good at is protecting your monster from being destroyed by battle and allowing those monster to do piercing.

Pretty decent effect, however, being weak to monster removal kills this card's playability. Why would you get rid of three of your own monsters to summon this weak monster that won't contribute to the win in a big way, or last that long.

Shame, good card, just not worth it, not until we get a Tour Guide for Rank 1 monsters that isn't rubbish like D-Boyz...

Traditional 1/5 - Arg. Monster removal is plentiful here.
Advanced: 2/5 - Not easy to summon, and until then, not worth using.
Art: 3/5 - Very rarely do we get cool female cards. This is one of them IMO.

Our next card fits the theme of space, Number 83: Galaxy Queen!

This is our first Rank 1 Xyz monster that we’ve seen so far, so let’s take a look. She’s got very low attack and defense and requires 3, count ‘em, 3 Xyz materials. Not looking so good; maybe the effect will make this more appealing. When you detach a Xyz material, all of your monsters become indestructible by battle and will deal piercing battle damage until the opponent’s next turn. This is promising, but getting 3 Level 1 monsters on the field and then to willingly overlaying them is usually difficult work. There are some ways of getting around this though.

D-Boyz is a new flip effect monster in Photon Shockwave that can special summon more D-Boyz when flipped face-up. The advantage here is that you only need a D-Boyz and a card such as Waboku or A/D Changer to pull it off. The drawback is that you’ll take 2000 points of damage for it.

Another good card to use is Machine Duplication. A lot of machine decks have a low-level basic form to them. Cyber Larva from last week could be used for Galaxy Queen when Machine Duplication is in your hand and for walling when Dup. isn’t in the hand. Genex Decks can use Genex Recycled, Genex Power Planner, and R-Genex Oracle while Morphtronics have several Level 1 targets (and some non-level 1 targets) for Machine Duplication.

Galaxy Queen herself has staying power, being capable of making herself indestructible by battle. She’s a little much of an investment for most decks, but you could probably put her in a Morphtronic deck since you’ll need some room and protection after your Celfons use their effects for the turn.

Traditional: 1/5 (far more effective styles than beatdown)
Advanced: 2.5/5 (the extra deck is very cramped right now, but it could still be fun)
Art: 4/5 (more numbers!)

No. 38 Galaxy Queen

Hey pojo, today we have another xyz monster, galaxy queen.  She takes 3 level 1 monsters to be summoned, and has 500/500 stats.  Once per turn, you an detach one xyz material from this card, so that until your opponents end phase face up monsters you control cannot be destroyed by battle. And if your opponent(I think that’s what its reffering to?) attacks a defense position monster, you inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent.
That’s a pretty cool effect, however there are a few problems.  First is that it takes three level one monsters, so short of veilers and faders nothing immediately comes to mind, aside from glow-up bulb.  getting this out isn’t going to be easy (barring some broken combo I don’t know about).  The second is that, if you do detach a material, your opponent isn’t required to attack you, meaning they can just sit and build their field.  Now, this could have been made better without being overly broken by forcing your opponents monster to attack you.

All in all, I can’t see this card being main decked outside of a stall/burn.  And even then theres easier options.

Advanced: 2.5/5
