Didn't we just look at this, maybe my memory is
faulty... Inzektor Sword-Zektkaliber. This is
an Equip Magic card, which immediately should have a
game breaking effect if we're to think of using in a
format with triple Mystical Space Typhoon AND Heavy
Storm..but as any card vulnerable to that arsenal,
we can't just immediately dismiss this card.
Appropriately, this card can only be equipped to an
Inzektor Monster, and when done, said Monster gains
800 attack and defense, which is a considerable
enough increase. When face-up on the Field,
and sent to the Graveyard, you can select an
Inzektor from your Graveyard, and it to your Hand.
That almost, more or less, make this worth playing
in the Deck. That at least ends up being a
1-for-1, maybe potentially more.

Inzektor Sword – Zektkaliber, not to be confused
with Excaliber, has a number of effects that make it
a playable card in Inzektor decks. First, it
increases your Inzektors by 800 attack and defense.
Second, once it resolves on the field and is sent to
the graveyard you get to add an Inzektor to your
hand so unlike most equip cards; this card will not
be a negative one.
Using Zektkaliber is easy and it can be searched
with cards like Inzektor Centipede and Hidden
Armory. Attach Zektkaliber to Inzektor Dragonfly or
Centipede. Then use the effect of cards like Armor
Blast and Inzektor Hornet to get the effects of
Zektkaliber and the monster it is attached to. You
could also use Scrubbed Raid to actually plus
yourself while stopping your
opponent’s attack.

We're looking at Inzektor Sword - Zektkaliber, an
equip card for the Inzektors. IS-Z pumps up an
Inzektor monster by 800 ATK and DEF, and when it is
sent from the field to your graveyard, you can
target 1 Inzektor monster in your grave and add it
to your hand. The 800 bonus is pretty good, as most
Inzektors are a bit on the low attack side. IS-Z's
other effect is really where it's at. As you can get
any Inzektor monster from your grave when it's sent
from the field to the grave. There are a lot of
different ways this card can be used, especially
with Inzektors Ant and Hornet. Im not the biggest
fan of the Inzektors archtype, but this is a good
card for it, even if it is a 3 MST, 1 Storm format,
you might want it destroyed.

An odd card for the week's theme, but what the
hey?
ISZ is a great card in any deck running Inzektors,
but is sadly useless elsewhere. He gives much needed
power to the weak little bugs and bounces an
Inzektor back to your hand from the graveyard.
Sadly, if you need to draw the correct card to save
you, this will be a dead draw if you don't have an
Inzektor in play or your hand already. An alright
card for the theme, but nothing else.

This is one of the Inzektors' three actual Equip
Spell Cards, and definitely the one you will see the
most of. The Zektarrow gives a 500 ATK boost and
makes the opponent unable to chain to that monster's
effect. Zektahawk gives a 1000 ATK boost and gives
the Inzektor the "Ancient Gear" treatment to make
Mirror Force and Dimensional Prison unresponsive to
it.
The Zektkaliber has a respectable 800 ATK increase
and a negligibly equivalent boost for DEF. This is
usually only important for pushing that extra 800
damage in a direct attack spree; other important
targets are giving Centipede or Hopper enough juice
to slaughter Evolzar Dolkka without the need of
Giga-Mantis. The real gist, as always, comes in the
secondary effect. Unlike the Zektarrow or Zektahawk,
Zektkaliber gets its effect off of getting
destroyed, and once it does, it's a costless Monster
Reincarnation. This is not bad at all if you need to
recycle Centipedes or Dragonflies, perhaps put a
Giga-Mantis back in hand. It's also useful in that
it is not prone to losing advantage at the hands of
MST or Heavy Storm. In fact, you might even destroy
it yourself using Hornet.
But then...why not just use Giga-Mantis? Giga-Mantis
can equip himself onto a monster all the same, gives
a much more considerable ATK boost, and, when
destroyed, outright summons a monster to the field.
Zektkaliber's gist is that all it has to do is to be
destroyed whiilst faceup (it would be better if it
was just plain sent from the field to the Graveyard,
but I'm fooling myself if I think Inzektors needed
to be any more powerful than they are already).
Giga-Mantis requires that the monster he was
equipped to be still alive. That is to say, if the
monster with Zektkaliber on it gets used up for Xyz
or even released to summon Giga-Mantis, you still
get the effect off the Sword. Furthermore, you can
only use one Giga-Mantis per turn, so you can load
up a bunch of Inzektor Swords on, say, a Dragonfly,
then use it up for an Xyz and substantially refresh
your Hand. These are extremely complicated plays
that give Inzektors their most destructive force; it
is also very easy for an inexperienced player to
badly play their cards in the wrong order, but that
should not be a factor in interpreting the card
itself.
The biggest reason why to use Inzektor Sword over
United We Stand in a Deck that swarms so
effortlessly is because Sword replenishes itself
easily and appreciatably. Also, like Giga-Mantis,
Inzektor Sword's destruction (if you shatter it with
Hornet) will give you a summon off Dragonfly or a
search with Centipede (although it concerns me that
if you do it with Centipede, you still only get one
Normal Summon per turn, but you can always search a
card like Giga-Mantis or another Sword that doesn't
require a Normal Summon).
Oh yeah, and what many people forget is that
Inzektor Centipede can search any Inzektor card,
regardless of under 1500 ATK or not or under Level
4; it doesn't even have to be a monster. So yeah,
Centipede can grab Spell Cards.
I see Inzektor Sword used a lot less than
Giga-Mantis, and I prefer Giga-Mantis' direct summon
over Sword's restoration to the Hand, as that
doesn't use up your Normal Summon for the turn.
However. I only have experience in battling
Inzektors; not using them. I have also interviewed
experienced Inzektors Duelists and they have given
me the consensus I need to mark this card extremely
high.
Traditional: 3/5 (if anything, it'll give some
protection against CED, and to a further extent,
Yata-Garasu)
Advanced: 4.5/5 (it's not splashable, but it gives a
great deal of power to an already devastating
archetype, and that in itself makes it very, very
potent)
Aesthetics: 3/5 Lol, Inzektor Exa-Beetle. I guess it
goes without saying this is based off of Kamen Rider
Gatack's weapon?
Philosophy Corner: Thousands of lives depart the
earth daily. People can pass young or old,
peacefully or painfully. And, of course, on certain
dates more people have died than normal. Death is a
natural effect; the cause of death isn't always so.
In such situations, you may mourn the dead, you may
accuse the perpetrators. But you mustn't forget to
cherish the newborn.
