Closing the week is another XYZ Monster, M-X-Saber
Invoker, who is a Rank 3 (who immediately benefits
from our Tour friends) Warrior-type, Earth
attributed XYZ Monster who is XYZ Summoned with two
Level 3 Monsters. Invoker has 1600 attack and 500
defense. Invoker is quite clearly a combo card, and
a good one for a few different Decks. It adds
speed, namely to XYZ and/or Synchro Summoning via
its effect. Once a turn by detaching an XYZ
Material, you can Special Summon a Level 4
Beast-Warrior or Beast-type Monster of the Earth
attribute. Said Monster is Special Summoned in
face-up Defense Position and destroyed at the End
Phase...BUT you're not keeping it around that long,
of course you plan to use it long before then.
Ratings:
3/5 Useful in some Decks, useless in others, combos
people...

At first glance, one would say
that this 1600 attack Xyz monster that only special
summons a monster in defense mode and then destroys
it at the end of the turn is pretty much useless.
One might also say that it is only good in X-Saber
decks. Well, whoever this “one” person is would be
dead wrong. In fact, the ideas of what M-X-Saber
Invoker can do are running wild through my head.
Let’s start with the obvious
and that is to run Invoker in an X-Saber Deck.We will ether need two level three monsters
on the field like Fulhelmknight, Emmersblade,
Airbellum, and Darksoul or just summon a Tour Guide
and use its effect. Then use Invoker’s effect to
special summon a Boggart Knight or Garsem, special
summon Faultroll from your hand and then summon a
tuner or level four X-Saber from your Graveyard. If
you have a Foolish Burial, you can control which
monster you want to bring out from the graveyard.
Then you can do things like summoning Gottoms and
take two cards from your opponent’s hand or Xyz
summon or Synchro summon depending on your needs at
the time. Yes, this card is not too shabby in an
X-Saber deck.
How about using Invoker in a
Gladiator Beast deck? No way right? Way! Use a Hero
Lives to special summon Elemental Hero Prisma and
send Bestiari to the graveyard. Next summon Tour
Guide, use its effect to summon another then Xyz
into M-X-Saber Invoker. Use Invoker to summon Darius
then contact fusion into Gyzarus to destroy two of
your opponent’s cards. Attack with both for 4000
life points and then summon Darius and Laquari.
Bring out Bestiari with Darius and contact fusion
into Heraklinos. Can you say “not too shabby” in a
Gladiator deck?
Why stop there? Let’s keep the
shenanigans going. Summon Tour guide and Xyz into
Invoker. Use Invoker to special summon Koa’Ki Meiru
Urnight, then use Urnight to special summon a level
4 Koa’Ki monster from your deck and Xyz into a rank
4 Xyz monster of your choice. With one Tour Guide,
you end up with two Xyz monsters on the field. Can
you say “plus one with field advantage”?
So many decks so many Ideas. I
am getting dizzy. Six Samurai’s with ether Rescue
Rabbit or Tour Guides. With Shein’s Dojo the
possibilities are many and it would take all day to
talk about them so I will leave the rest to your
imagination. Elemental Hero’s anyone? It can search
for any Elemental Hero that you need for use with
Masked Change, Super Poly, and Miracle Fusion.
The only question now is, what
rating shall we give this card? Unfortunately the
decks that we have talked about are not top tier
right now, so outside of tier two decks or fun
decks, M-X-Saber Invoker will probably not be seeing
play. It is an exciting card that could turn
someone’s deck into a Meta smasher and win a YCS,
but it will take a bold person to do so. For now, I
must give this card a low rating only because it
lays stagnant in our collections.

It's Friday the 13th, and we're looking at,
well.....A rather lucky card for a day that is
considered to be unlucky. Invoker is the first Xyz
X-Saber monster, and a good one at that. While its
ATK and DEF of 1600 and 500 are not the best, what
it does is adds to the swarm that the X-Sabers do so
well. First, it's a Rank 3 monster that needs 2
level 3 monsters, that's easy to do. Invoker allows
you to once a turn, to detach 1 Xyz material to
special summon 1 level 4 EARTH Warrior or
Beast-Warrior type from your deck, in face up
defense position. Destroy it during your end phase.
This allows for futher Saber shenanigans, such as
further Xyz summoning, Synchro summoning, or tribute
fodder. I could see Tour Guide in X-Sabers, that'll
get Invoker out a lot faster. While his stats will
only get him so far, the effect outweighs that. A
little protection of Invoker could go a long way.

This guy works great in any warrior deck, but is
very useful in a correctly built Gladiator Beast
deck. While the monster summoned is killed at the
end of the turn, this works great for getting out
more XYZs and certain tricks that warriors and GBs
pull off so well.

So you got your X-Sabers, your
XX-Sabers, and your Missing X-Sabers. Apparently the
"missing" got lost in translation.
Being an X-Saber, Invoker gets all the goodies those
guys have for support. In an actual X-Saber Deck,
however, Invoker can provide little other support.
Invoker is highly limited in the fact he can only
target Level 4 monsters, as opposed to Level 4 or
under (and I'm not gonna bash him that the Warrior
monster he summons also has to be Earth). There are
a total of four X-Sabers Invoker can fetch, and all
of them are only useful in either attacking or
activating its effect when Normal Summoned, things
you can't do with Invoker (unless you're situational
enough to use a card effect to switch that monster
into ATK Mode). Also, since Invoker destroys said
monster at End Phase, you need to do something with
the monster THAT turn. Also, it so happens none of
those four monsters are Tuners (actually, NONE of
the monsters Invoker can summon are Tuners), meaning
if you want to do something with said monster, you
need to have a Tuner already ready to go on your
field or another Level 4 monster to perform another
Xyz Summon. At least Invoker can help swarm with
another X-Saber to meet Faultroll's summoning
requirements, but as the Xyz Materials for Invoker
are usually X-Sabers anyway, that is usually moot.
So let's not focus on Invoker's X-Saber name at all
and more on his effect to summon out any Level 4
Earth Warrior from the Deck (all his Beast-Warrior
options are rather negligible targets). I've looked
up his targets, and an overwhelming amount of them
are Amazonesses or Koa'ki Meirus, meaning Invoker
can find a good home in those Decks (Amazonesses get
a special mention as, with Amazoness Village, they
get an instant replacement once that first one is
destroyed or use up Amazoness Scouts right away).
Perhaps the most notable target is Exiled Force,
which, like Amazoness Scouts, can instantly release
itself to make itself useful. Also, assuming you
didn't Normal Summon this turn (although you most
likely have to summon Invoker), it is much easier to
make a Synchro or Xyz Monster with Invoker's
monster, or release it for something else (likely
Amazoness Queen, or, if you're really into crazy
ideas, Release Restraint to play Gearfried the
Swordmaster). Invoker is also a decent splash for
Six Samurais; if a Six Samurai player ever finds a
scenario with two Level 3 monsters out, Xyz Summon
Invoker, use the effect to take a Kizan from the
deck (if only to give Gateway of the Six Samurai two
more counters). Six Sams can effortlessly use
Kizan's body for a Synchro or Xyz that same turn.
Invoker isn't very fantastic, but he sits in the
Extra Deck, so he isn't a bother.
There are a quite a number of Rank 3 Xyzs, and
Invoker doesn't have a bad effect going for him.
There's only one other Rank 3 Warrior Xyz and his
effect...is a very sad version of Leviathan
Dragon's. If you have plenty of Level 3 and 4 Earth
Warriors in a Deck, Invoker should not be overlooked
to add to your Extra.
Niche Decks: Amazoness, Koa'ki
Meiru, X-Sabers, Warrior Toolbox, Six Samurai
Traditional: 1.5/5 (you're probably better off going
Leviathan Dragon than this dude)
Advanced: 2.5/5
Aesthetics: 3/5 You know, until I looked at him
close just now, I always thought of him of wearing
some sort of goofy mask. The oversized armor and
under-impressive stats also made me stereotype
Invoker as a clown of sorts. And what's that red
thing on his chest, an IV or what?
