I cannot think of too many good things to say about Reverse Buster. Let’s take a look at the stats and see if there is anything that we can do with it. Buster is a Light monster so we can play it in a light or chaos deck and use it with Honest. It has 1500 attack so it can be searched for with Sangan and Shining Angel. If your opponent has a face-down defensive monster, Reverse Buster is the greatest card ever as that monster is immediately destroyed and your opponent will not be able to stop the attack with spell and trap cards. The last stat is it is a Fiend so it can work well in a Fiend deck.

Now for the bad news. Reverse Buster can ONLY attack if there is a face down monster for it to attack. In today’s game of fast attack offenses, you are not going to see many decks playing face down monsters. There are ways to produce face-down monsters like with Book of Moon, Book of the Eclipse, and Swords of Concealing Light, but unless you are building a deck around these cards, Buster is a bust.

The only deck that I can possibly see this deck in is a Fiend deck’s side deck. And even then, you will still need to find the space.

I really wanted to like this card. It has a lot going for it. It can wipe out face down monsters without having to flip them face up, protection from spells and traps when it attacks.....but the downside is that Reverse Buster can only attack face down monsters. Yeah it only has 1500 ATK and a big ole' 0 for its DEF, but it can't attack face up monsters or attack directly. To get the most out of RB, use cards like Book of Moon and Swords of Concealing Light. But it's just a bit much for this card. Like I stated before, I wanted to fully like this card, but since it can't attack face up monsters or directly, it loses a few points.

Today we are looking at a very situational card. Most decks nowadays don’t really set cards and easily have cards that can bypass this card, not to mention that this card can ONLY attack face down cards. The only good thing that this card has going for it is that it’s light, fiend, and it has some decent effects minus the only being able to attack face down monsters.

Pros: Honest target, searchable via Sangan, and the stun effect are nice.
Cons: Horrible attack condition and even worse defense.

This card screams anti-defense. What's worse, your opponent can't do anything to stop it once it attacks. their only hope is to destroy it before it attacks. While that's possible, many players like to use counter traps or attack-triggered traps, so it's a good be that if this guy attacks, the opponent is effectively out of luck if they're relying solely on favcedowns for defense. The two sad things about him are that his ATK makes him vulnerable to Bottomless Trap Hole and he can't attack the opponent directly. An alright card for use against lots of flip effect monsters or to clear the way for your big guys to swing for massive dirrect damage.

You know, I actually have a Reverse Buster in my Kite Tenjo Deck on Dueling Network.

RB has the "Ancient Gear" treatment, meaning that the likes of Dimensional Prison and Mirror Force are futile against it. Once the attack is declared, nothing can save your opponent's facedown monster from execution.

Being restricted in only attacking facedown monsters (can't even attack directly!), however, is a huge disadvantage. Well, ok, probably not HUGE considering you're not gonna use RB to attack anything else. But let that thought ring in your head: "You're not gonna use RB to attack anything else." Seriously, what Deck are you actually going to run RB in? He has no niche or a generic use. His effect is certainly not as disappointing as, say, Plasma Ball's, but it's still a far cry from being MVP.

But anyway, why would you use this over Sasuke Samurai? I mean sure, Sasuke Samurai can kill Scapegoats but... Well I guess no one uses Sasuke Samurai anymore, and...ok, I guess Reverse Buster outclasses Sasuke (immunity to Dimensional Prison is very negligible on such an "expendable monster," because I'd much rather my RB be Prison'd, than, say, my Grapha). Sasuke Samurai can be fetched by Reinforcement of the Army. Exiled Force can do something similar, only it can target ANY monster. Drillroid can't stop Flips, but it can murder ANY Defence Position monster, has 100 more Base ATK, and works with Limiter Removal. Wattmole...well, it has no ATK, but I'm sure you're being very reliant on Reverse Buster's astounding 1500 ATK anyway.

So obviously, if you WANT to use Reverse Buster, it has to be a coalition that puts him above all the other monsters I just mentioned. Being a Light Fiend is something that allows you to run him in Fiend Decks while adding a Light to make summoning Black Luster Soldier easier, so I suppose if you're running a Fiend Deck and you really want to get rid of facedown monsters...I still don't recommend Reverse Buster. The anime effect is much better, removing its attack restriction as well as letting it gain 500 ATK for every set monster he slaughters, and even then I ask "why not use a monster with better ATK to start with?"

Traditional: 1/5
Advanced: 1.5/5 (if you have a Book of Moon, Book of Eclipse and Swords of Concealing Light theme going on, I dunno...)
Aesthetics: 3/5 You know, it would be pretty cool to have to have support for the "Buster" archetype. Buster Blader, Buster Blaster, Reverse Buster? In any case, it seems really random to make this a Light Fiend. I personally think he looks like a Dark or Earth Warrior.
