It's a musical mini week here on pojo as we look
at the new Djinn monster cards from the newest
starter deck, Muzurhythm the String Djinn. This cool
looking fiend type is a Rank 3 Xyz that needs two
level three monsters. What really is one of the best
qualities about these Djinn monsters is that they
are very spashable in any extra deck, that and they
work together to look out for each other. String 's
effect is when a Djinn monster you control is
attacking an opponent's monster, you can detach one
Xyz material from this card to double the ATK of
that Djinn monster. So having String go to 3000 ATK
can be a good thing. The only thing I do not like
about this card. It only works when you are
attacking with an Djinn monster. Your opponent can
tell what you are about to do and counter your move.
Other than that, Strings is good either by himself
or with the other Djinns on the field. I like it.
Traditional: 1.5
Advanced: 3.5

Mr. Pojo had the tenacity to spontaneously take
the past two days off on "personal business" this
past Earth Day weekend. To protest this selfish act,
I utterly refuse to participate in today's CotD.
Therefore, you will have to rely on the other
reviewers to tell you that Muzumuzu is an
exceptionally interesting card both off his own
splashability and his accumulated power in the Djinn
Deck.
It really goes without saying how Muzu can use the
effect on himself, so I'm not going to go into how
Muzu can do a trick reminiscent of Injection Fairy
Lily to instantly grow to 3000 ATK, and this isn't
original ATK so it also factors in any additional
ATK supplements the attacker has (although I will
say that Muzu's inability to use his effect to power
up a direct attack is a disappointment). I'm not
even going to go about how this boost gives a much
more powerful outburst than Leviathan Dragon
in common emergency situation and puts Acid Golem to
complete shame. But yeah, it's completely obvious
as to how being a Level 3 Fiend Xyz gives so much
combo potential with Sangan, Tour Guide, Soldarity, and
potentially Rescue Rabbit + Dark King of the Abyss,
so I'm glad of how unlikely it is you'll miss out on
that information as I abandon Pojo for April 25th.
I was also intending to talk about how Muzu can
incorporate himself into the Djinn archetype, about
how his paltry 1500 ATK is shielded on your
opponent's turn by Maestroke, his great synergy by
working off the offensive capabilities of Melomelody
and the offensive/defensive capabilities of Tentempo
(giving the Deck strong OTK potential), and how
Queen Dragun Djinn can be splashed into the Extra
Deck just for the possibility of going up to 4400
ATK with Muzu's effect...but alas. I'm afraid I will
refrain from talking about Muzurhythm completely.
I'll give you my overall ratings, but sadly I won't
offer anything else for today.
Traditional: 2/5 I think Leviathan Dragon has an
edge over Muzu simply for the fact that Muzu can't
double his ATK upon a direct attack, and Leviathan
Dragon isn't amazing in Traditional regardless.
Advanced: 3.9/5 (3.5 by himself, plus a bonus .4 for
Djinn support compatibility)
Aesthetics: 4.5/5 I cannot allow my protest to get
in the way of exploring Yuma's interesting "String
Devil" Xyzs. They are not horribly broken monsters,
but they are all splashable in any typical deck and
have very interesting antimeta effects. Their name
might cause problems as there are a whole group of "Djinn"
monsters in the past, most of which did not carry
the name through the English dubbing. Nevertheless,
the Djinn Xyzs are sure to be iconic monsters.
Muzurhythm is particularly interesting in his trench
coat, his rose, and his slew of amplifying guitar
weaponry. I also think not removing his demon horns
when converting to English is a positive step for
the dubbing department.
Philosophy Corner: "Failure is not an option."
