First off I would like to say
that I am not overly impressed with the Xyz Symphony
Starter Deck. That being said, the Djinn Xyz
monsters have some pretty kooky (can I say that word
on POJO?) effects. Oh, and the new Fast Effect
Timing rules are in effect. Just saying! Any who,
Melomelody the Brass Djinn has a Blade Armor Ninja
effect that allows a Djinn Xyz monster you control
attack twice. If we had yesterday’s card on the
field and used both effects, we could deal 6000
damage in one turn. However we still have to deal
with having to have a clear field and the ability to
get two Rank 3 monsters on the field at one time.
Did I mention that the new Fast Effect Timing rules
are in effect?
Moving on! It is not terribly
hard to get rank 3 monsters on the field especially
with Tour Guide. Let’s take a look at the structure
deck to get some more ideas. First off, the
structure deck is really good at summoning level 4
monsters, but has a few tricks on making those level
4 monsters into level 3’s and special summoning
level 3’s. Marauding Captain when summoned can
special summon Feedback Warrior, Sangan, Shine
Knight, or Zubaba knight. Shining Angel can special
summon Shine Knight and Giant Rat can fetch
Marauding Captain. Then summon a level 3 or change a
level 4 to 3 with Star Changer. You can also summon
Trident Warrior or Goblindbergh and special summon
Feedback Warrior. Oh yah and don’t forget about the
Fast Effect Timing rules.
Without a boost from another
card effect, the 1400 attack that Melomelody has is
not going to do much good unless the only card your
opponent has on the field is Bottomless Trap Hole.
In our fun structure deck Blustering Winds and Ego
Boost will boost Melomelody up to 2400.
I like Melomelody the Brass
Djinn in a Fiend deck. It is a light monster so
Honest would go perfectly with this card when it
attacks a high attack monster. We could also play it
with Solidarity to bring its attack up to a
respectable 2200. I like it with Fable’s because you
can play Tour Guide to snatch Fabled Kushano from
your deck, Xyz into Muzurhythm the String Djinn and
ditch Kushano to increase its attack to 3000 and
attack over your opponent’s monster. Next turn,
discard The Fabled Ganashia to bring the Fabled
Kushano to your hand, summon it and then Xyz into
Melomelody with the special summoned Ganashia. Now
you have the combo for the 6000 in attacks. By the
way, did you know that the new Fast Effect Timing
rule is in effect? Just thought I’d mention it. Why
not throw in a Dark Necrofear in the Fabled deck as
well to catch people off guard?
Like I said, I am not crazy
about this card, but in the right deck it could have
potential.

Today we look at Melomelody, The Brass Djinn. The
2nd of 4 of Yuma's Djinn's monsters. A rank 3 Xyz,
it needs 2 level 3 monsters, and it weighs in with
1400 ATK and 1600 DEF. Not the best, but it there
are ways around to protect it. Melody has a nifty
ability that lets you detach 1 Xyz material to
target 1 Djinn monster you control and have it
attack twice. This is can be useful if the String
Djinn is out on the field, you can have a 3000 ATK
monster go twice. A good support card to the Djinns,
especially when Strings or Maestroke is on the
field. Not the best stats, but it effect is a
welcome addition to help out her fellow, stronger
Djinns.

First of all, I will slap
anyone who makes any "horny" jokes about
Mellowmellow.
Being summonable with two Level 3 monsters and being
able to target herself with her own effect, she is,
I suppose "splashable." She has a disappointing
power level, however, so her double-attack
capability will only be notable when attacking
directly or slaughtering the very rare Scapegoat
(her effect is better than in the anime though).
Despite being the least
splashable Djinn, she can perform magic with the
proper set-up, especially with yesterday's card
Muzurhythm. Mellow can bestow the double-attack
effect upon Muzu, then attack using Muzu while using
his own effect to go up to 3000 ATK. Muzu's effect
can only be activated when attacking a monster, but
at least the boost carries on until the End Phase,
meaning Muzu can launch a second direct attack with
that 3000 ATK. This can be especially devastating
when paired with Queen Dragun, who
should qualify as a 2200 ATK Djinn Xyz
once she comes out in English. Assuming you can set
up even further (perhaps with Rescue Rabbit and Tour
Guide), a combination of Soldarity, Muzu, and Mellow
is enough juice for 8000 damage, assuming Muzu first
attacks a monster with 1800 or less ATK (it should
also be noted Muzu's effect is not limited once per
turn, if which can grant Mellow at least 1400 more
ATK should you be facing a particulary scary field).
Oh yes, and being a Fiend-based Deck, the Djinns do
indeed get all the benefits of Gates of Dark World.
Given the Djinn's theme to mess
around in the Battle Phase and their subpar original
ATK, I would actually condone to using Equip Spells
like United We Stand to help boost their cause. As
for Mellow herself, she's the least splashable of
all the Djinns, but she definitely provides valuable
support.
Traditional: 2/5 (double
attacking isn't usually a great asset, but with all
these opportunities to power up, the Djinn Deck may
or may not have a niche to OTK easily, and they use
a bunch of different Attributes so it makes CED
easier)
Advanced: 3/5
Aesthetics: 5/5 I especially
like how her tuba's drawn. And she's adorable ^^
