Releasing new Archtypes is good, releasing new
Archtypes with little to no support, is not so good.
The Laval theme strikes me as a particularly
interesting one. Laval Volcano Handmaiden is a hot
little number, pun intended. Fire, Pyro, Tuner, all
decent enough things (even though Synchros aren't
played much right now I still see being a Tuner over
not a good thing). Level 1 is interesting, easily
enough can make a Level 5, 7, or above I suppose
(say 9) as it's easier to make odd Level Synchros
with an odd Level Tuner. The 100/200 attack and
defense are all but irrelevant. The effect is quite
simple, almost ridiculously so. When sent to the
Graveyard, from anyplace, by anyone, in any method
(all good) you can send a Laval Monster from your
Deck to your Graveyard, to include herself, as long
as she's not the only Laval Monster in your
Graveyard. The Laval cards do interesting
things...dump, revive, remove, return, I'm just not
sure it's quick or powerful enough at present to be
anything good. Time will tell. Still, it's the
best card thus far this week.

We are going to switch gears here a little bit
and talk about a Laval monster today. Laval Volcano
Handmaiden does exactly what we want from a Laval
deck and that is to get Laval monsters in the
graveyard to make good use of. All that has to
happen is for Handmaiden to go to the graveyard as
the last thing that happens. Once its effect
activates you can send another Handmaiden to the
grave and then another with its effect and finally
any other Laval monster for a total of 4 monsters.
Laval Volcano Handmaiden is also a tuner which helps
the Laval theme with Synchro summoning. With just
this card, you have everything you need for cards
like Rekindling, Laval Cannon, Laval Lakeside Lady,
Laval the Greater, and Laval Stennon. If you do not
have it in your hand, you can send it to the
graveyard with Foolish Burial, Laval Miller, and
Molten Transmission Field.
Laval decks can explode with Synchro summons at an
alarming rate and Laval Volcano Handmaiden serves as
a catalyst. This is the one deck type that can
special summon Shooting Quasar Dragon.

We're looking at Laval Volcano Handmaiden today,
and interesting card, considering that it's a tuner
monster. Hmm, I was told they stopped making those.
Anywho, Handmaiden is a FIRE/Pyro type Tuner with
the poor stats of 100 ATK and 200 DEF. When this
card is sent to the graveyard (By any means, except
if by a cost. EX: Lighting Vortex, Dark Core) if you
have a Laval monster other than Handmaiden, you can
send 1 Laval monster from your deck to your
graveyard. Lavals kinda like their own in the grave,
so this card can quickly get other Handmaidens in
the grave just by getting one in the grave. Cards
like Laval Miller and Foolish Burial can get this
card in the grave, to get more Handmaidens in the
grave. Being a Tuner helps as well, as you can get
Lavalval Dragon out and bounce two cards your
opponent controls back into their hand. Or if you
have all three of your Handmaidens in the grave, you
can use Rekindling to get all of them out to Xyz
summon Number 83: Galaxy Queen. This card will not
win many battles, but she has a few uses.
