Shifting back to Steelswarm, we come to the heavy
hitter of the Deck, Steelswarm Hercules. I kinda
have a (fairly) unbiased opinion then when cards
boast impressive names like Hercules, they better
have a Herculean effect. Does that hold true here?
Let's find out. Cannot be Special Summoned?
Strike one. Requires three Steelswarm Tributes to
Normal Summon? Strike two. 0 defense? Strike 3.
So it can't be Normal Set, and yes, it's Level 10,
which can be helpful, 3200 attack is quite beastly,
but I'm thinking 3500 or even more, would have been
more appropriate. Dark and Fiend are good, You can
pay half your Lifepoints to destroy all other cards
on the Field. That's incredible, almost makes this
worthwhile. If you're playing Steelswarm, go ahead
and play one, as one is enough. Just win, fast,
cause the 0 defense could full well bite you in the
ass, and the no Special Summon equally sucks.
Ratings: (Steelswarm only obviously)
3/5 both Formats...get it out, clear the Field, and
win quickly...it's a lot of investment to lose so
quickly, not to mention without even getting the
effect off, but it can win you a game

Our last card of the week is Steelswarm Hercules.
He's a huge LVL 10 DARK/Fiend, with 3200 ATK and 0
DEF. He can't be special summoned. He needs 3
Steelswarm monsters to tribute summon him. Cannot be
normal set. Once per turn; you can pay half your
life points to destroy all other cards on the field.
The ability to wipe the field clean is good, even if
it costs you half your LPs. You can swoop in for a
direct attack for a clean 3200. The trick is getting
him out on the field. Cards like Inferno Reckless
Summon and Infestation Ripples can help out. You can
only hope Hercules doesn't get hit with one of the
Solemn brigade or even Bottomless Trap Hole. He's
one of those cards that can be and is a game winner,
if he hits the field, and nothing happens to him
long enough for Hercules to use his effect. Also,
Megamorph is an option here too....just saying.
Traditional: 1.5
Advanced: 3 *In a Steelswarm deck*Friday Fact: In
greek mythology, Hercules had a twin brother named
Iphicles.

Although the strongest and most destructive card the
Steelswarms have, I wouldn't recommend having more
than one in your deck.
Three Steelswarm monsters are needed just to Normal
Summon Hercules. You can't even use Monster Reborn.
I'm just gonna go right out and say that even if the
three monsters you tributed didn't HAVE to be
Steelswarms also, no other deck would still use
Hercules. I guess you can get some search action
with Corrosive Contagion Infestation.
Assuming you didn't run into Solemn Judgment or
Solemn Warning or Bottomless Trap Hole or even at
least Effect Veiler, you need to cut your LP in half
to reduce everything else on the field to rubble.
Then you can attack directly for 3200 (and hope Gorz
doesn't come flying out at you or something) and
then maybe swarm the field using Steelswarm Scout.
Another possible combo is to use Megamorph (many
Steelswarms, Hercules included, have large costs for
their effects, making it easy to use Megamorph) to
allow Hercules to attack for 6400 damage. Also, Life
Equalizer (combined with Steelswarms' costs and
Upstart Goblin) will not only increase your LP, but
will put your opponent in immediate danger of losing
to Hercules.
Comparing Hercules to Judgment Dragon is very much
like comparing Solemn Judgment and Solemn Warning in
that Judgment could potentially pay 4000 at the
start of the game but could be a very low cost later
on, while Warning has a set cost of 2000 and
simultaneously runs the risk of being a
less-than-ideal or worthless lategame draw.
Actually...no, Hercules can't compare to Judgment
Dragon at all. Granted, assuming you can summon
Hercules and get the effect off without issues, you
probably will have a high chance of winning, but the
effort in getting it summoned is infuriatingly high
(even if you use Steelswarm Genome to count for
two of the tributes) and the possible risks are much
greater than the possible rewards. Hercules is
stronger than the Egyptian God Cards...I suppose...kinda.
At least Vylon Omega has a DEF score to speak of, is
easier to summon, and doesn't have a stupid-high
cost for its effects. I mean, it would've been
cooler if it didn't blow up your own cards. Or at
least destroys all cards on the field except for
Steelswarms, Evilswarms, and Infestation cards.
How ironic it is a demon that crawled out of the
ground is so easily countered by the Book of Moon.
Trad: 1.1/5 (I don't think I'd even try)
Adv: 2.5/5 (I guess destroying the entire field and
inflicting 3200 damage is appealing, but there are
so many other things about this card that are so "ew")
Aesthetics: 5/5 An untold amount of many, many years
ago, the Steelswarms warred with the Vylons over
control of the Duel Terminal. The Vylons, emerging
victorious, had the Steelswarms locked away far deep
into the depths of the earth. Eons later, the
battling between the Gustos and the Gishkis as well
as the Gem-Knights and the Lavals caused the
Steelswarms to re-emerge from their prison and to
threaten the Duel Terminal once again. Again, the
Vylons drop out of the sky and pummel the
Steelswarms as easily as they had last time. The
Steelswarms manage Normal Summon Steelswarm Hercules
and attack Vylon Omega, destroying them both. The
Steelswarm War now over with the Vylons and
Steelswarms both left in ruins, the Duel Terminal
clans resume their own personal wars, until they
find themselves threatened again by Vylon Disigma...
Philosophy Corner: If you go back and read my
Philosophies for the past days of these week (yes,
they're up now), it will explain why I haven't done
any reviews for eight days. I already have enough
trouble getting my actual reviews on time. I'm
really sorry.
