2 Level 7 WATER monsters
While this face-up card has Xyz Material, Level 5 or higher monsters cannot attack. Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the effects of all face-up monsters your opponent currently controls that have less ATK than this card, until the end of the turn.
The Mermail Archtype is slaughtering the competitive
scene right now, and this is a very big reason as to
why. I may just be one Yugioh player, but don't be
surprised to see Mermail take a serious hit on the
March Ban List. Mermail Abyssgaios is a Rank 7 XYZ
Monster, Water attribute, Aqua type, with a sound
2800 attack and a not-so-sound 1600 defense. This
Monster is XYZ Summoned with two Level 7 Water
Monsters, appropriately enough. While face-up on
the Field, with XYZ Material, no Monster Level 5 or
higher can attack. Obviously this doesn't effect
our XYZ Monsters, having Ranks as opposed to Levels,
but there aren't a great deal of Tribute, Synchro,
and others that this effects, but it's still really
good.
Also, by discarding an XYZ Material from this card,
all face-up Monsters your opponent currently
controls have their effects negated until the End
Phase of the turn, so long as they have attack less
than this card. That's really good too, but
unfortunately, if only for one, won't effect an
opposing Black Luster Soldier. Abyssgaio's effect
that negates the effect of opponent's Monsters
doesn't target, I want that on record, but this guy
is certainly a powerhouse. One is likely all you
need in your Abyss Deck, but as said, he's one of
the reasons you're wrecking the scene.

Abyss Rising’s legacy is in giving rise to the
Water monsters. Fortunately, it also introduced a
number of Xyz monsters that were sorely needed. On
today’s docket is Mermail Abyssgaios. It requires 2
level 7 Water monsters to summon, but that is the
levels of our Water boss monsters, so it is a
perfect fit in an Atlantean/Mermail deck. All you
need to do is to get any combination of Mermail
Abyssmegalo, Poseidra, the Atlantean Dragon, and
Gungnir, Dragon of the Ice Barrier.
Lemuria the Forgotten City can also aid in summoning
Mermail Abyssgaios by increasing the levels of the
Water monsters on the field. Lemuria will also
increase Abyssgaios’s attack to 3000 and allow it to
negate more monster effects. Abyssgaios can not
negate monster effects that activate in the hand,
grave, or banished area like Honest and Effect
Veiler, but it can negate effects that occur on the
field like Ryko and Chaos Sorcerer.
Now let’s take a look at all of the amazing things
that Mermail Abyssgaios can do. With 2800 in attack,
it can survive most battles. Top that off with the
fact that level 5 or higher monsters can not attack
while it has material on it and half of your worries
go away. Then add in the ability to negate the
effects of face-up monsters your opponent controls
who’s attack is less than Abyssgaios and you reduce
your worries to mainly spells and traps.
If you are playing a Mermail or Atlantean type deck,
then you will want Mermail Abyssgaios in your extra
deck.

Today we look at Mermail Abyssgaios, an Xyz
monster that makes me wanna play the God of War
franchise over again. While it has Xyz materials on
it, level 5 or higher monsters cannot declare an
attack, that is a double-edged sword as your
monsters are affected as well. But most level 5 or
higher monsters are usually around for their effects
most of the time. AH, but Abyssgaios has an answer
to that, as once per turn, during either player's
turn you can detach an Xyz material from this card
to negate the effects of all face up monsters your
opponent currently controls that has less ATK than
this card until the end phase of that turn, so that
can stall any monster effect that can get rid of
with less ATK than Abyssgaios, such as Ryko or even
Chaos Sorcerer. Getting out this huge ATK monster is
not hard as you can use Abyssgunde and Abyssmegalo
for another Abyssmegalo and use Abyssgunde's effect
to revive the Abyssmegalo you discarded. Even Galaxy
Queen's Light can be used as well. This card is good
for making your opponent having to waste resources
to get rid of this guy as it shuts down all level 5
and higher monsters with less ATK. Although there is
Black Luster Soldier....
