Welcome, we're starting our Top 10 Cards of 2012
review list. Over the next two weeks leading to the
new year, we will bring you the very best of 2012!
Opening the countdown is an XYZ Monster, Heroic
Champion-Excalibur! We have a Rank 4 XYZ Monster,
XYZ Summoned with two Level 4 Warrior Monsters. He
is a Light attribute Monster, who easily wreaks
havoc on the game scene, as I'm sure most players
should all ready know. Unimpressive to start for a
Rank 4 with 2000 attack and defense, Excalibur is a
heavy hitting, ideally, game finisher. By
discarding both XYZ Material, his attack doubles to
4000 until your opponent's next End Phase. That's
appropriate given that you discard both XYZ
Material. He's ended many a game, and he will
continue to do so.

Let the fun begin. As it is the end of the year,
it is time once again to review the top ten cards of
the year. And what a year it was with some pretty
powerful cards. Coming in at number 10 is Heroic
Champion – Excalibur. Excalibur gives Warriors a
4000 attack Xyz monster that can run over just about
any monster in the game.
As with most of the cards that we will be reviewing,
Heroic Champion – Excalibur was instrumental in
making certain decks top tier. In this case, the
Warrior decks Elemental HERO and Six Samurai. When
used with Blade Armor Ninja, you could ether attack
with a lot of attack points or make them one big
attack.
With Six Samurai decks you can easily special summon
two Legendary Six Samurai – Kizan to Xyz summon
Excalibur to get over your opponent’s big monsters
and even get out a Shi En to protect it from traps.
With Elemental HERO decks, you can Summon Photon
Thrasher and an Elemental Monster or summon
Elemental HERO Stratos, search for Elemental HERO
Bubbleman, set your hand, and then special summon
Bubbleman. Easy peasy.
If you run a Warrior deck, Heroic Champion –
Excalibur is a staple card for your Extra deck. If
you are running Light Warrior monsters then try
adding in Honest as Excalibur is a Light monster. It
is also a nice fit in Warrior / Chaos decks.

If you would like more idea on any of the top 10
cards we are reviewing, you can also search on the
Card of the Day page to find our old posts.
Personally, I do not go back and look at those
articles in order to keep my reviews original, but
they may still mirror the Year End posts so just
keep that in mind when reading the top 10 reviews.

We're looking at the top 10 cards released in
2012, and coming in at number 10 is Heroic Champion
- Excalibur. A Rank 4 LIGHT/Warrior Xyz monster and
needing 2 level 4 Warrior type monsters with 2000
for both ATK and DEF.
Once per turn: You can detach 2 Xyz materials from
this card; this card's ATK becomes double
it's original ATK until your opponent's next end
phase.
Excalibur is one of those cards that you look at
and say, yeah....he's pretty good. He's easy to Xyz
summon as he needs 2 level 4 Warrior monsters to
summon *Looks sternly at Six Samurais and Heroics*
so there. He has 2000 for both ATK and DEF, not bad,
but once a turn you can detach 2 Xyz materials to
double his original attack to 4000. You can use
Heroic Chance to double that to a possible game
ending 8000. Heroic Champion - Extra Sword can get
him to at least 3000, and with Excalibur being a
LIGHT monster using Honest can rack up even more ATK
onto Excalibur, and is a DARK monster away from a
Chaos monster. If your opponent is playing defense,
you can use something like Fairy Meteor Crush to
bring the pain. Excalibur is a great card for
Warriors and earns the number 10 spot of the best
cards released in 2012.
