Time for some more Gagaga support. As we have
seen in the last few days, getting two Gagaga
monsters on the field at one time is not that hard.
Once we accomplish this feet, we can protect them
and any other monster we have from destruction by
battle or card effects with Gagagaguard.
That’s not too shabby, but you need to have a deck
that is dedicated to Gagaga decks. It also does not
stop effects that only remove or bounce monsters. In
the right deck, I would say to try one or two
Gagagguards.

Day 3 of Card names you can't say 5 times real
fast week brings us to Gagagaguard, A Trap card of
the normal kind, Gagagaguard says: If you control 2
or more Gagaga monsters, this turn, monsters you
control cannot be destroyed by battle or card
effects. This card is pretty good, and there's more
to it than it seems. You have a Gagaga Magician and
Girl on your side, activate Gagaga Guard, after
that, play Dark Hole and all your monsters are safe
and you can attack. The only draw back is that if
your Gagaga monsters are in attack mode, they won't
get destroyed by battle, but you are taking damage.
Also it doesn't save your monsters from bouncing
effects such as Raiza, or banishing effects like
Caius. A good card that has more than defensive
tactics going for it, if/when played right.

No. Just no.
The effect, I suppose, is not that bad. What's
notable is that it protects ANY monster; having two
GGG's out is just the activation requirement.
Assuming using GGG is your main focus, this card's
text effectively reads: "If you have two or more
monsters, they cannot be destroyed this turn."
Just like GGGbolt, however, the problem lays that
(between Magician, Girl, and Gardna), those monsters
just aren't WORTH protecting, nor should you really
intend to have Magician be your main offence or to
have Gardna protect you forever. And having two
Gardnas out just to have Guard ready for your other
monsters is just too situational. Not being a
Quickplay is just a further insult. As if that
wasn't enough, two GGG's are needed for its
requirement; you can't Summon GGG Magician onto an
empty field, expect to protect him with this, then
just plop down GGG Girl next turn.
Maybe if a really strong Xyz monster with "Gagaga"
in its name that mandated Gagaga Xyz Material
existed, this card can be considered, as Evo-Miracle
is to Evos. However, this is not the case. Stick
with Waboku and Forbidden Lance for the time being
if you really want a dedicated Gagaga build.
Niche Decks: Gagaga, if the archetype ever gets more
specific support
Traditional: 1/5 (because you know how often you'll
have this set with two Gagaga Magicians while your
opponent busts out CED)
Advanced: 1/5 (strong protection effect, poor
application) (FYI, the score I give is an analysis
of how well the card can be used in its own deck and
how that specific deck works in general - how the
card works in decks outside its field is just bonus
points, as that means it's a splashable card)
Aesthetics: 2/5 I'll give the Gagaga family points
for originality. You see that character in the
background of this card? That's a stylized version
of 我, which is the character meaning "I" or "me" in
Chinese. In Japanese, this character is pronounced
ga (boku is Japan's main way to say "me"; ga is just
the Japanese way to pronounce China's word), so
Gagaga Magician can be more accuractely translated
to as the Mememe Magician. I find this particularly
interesting as I know a very well-known Chinese rap
song that focuses on chanting eight 我 times in a
row.
Philosophy Corner: Some genetically defunct people
lack a certain gene that prevents them from
accepting failure.
