Today’s card is very interesting for what it
does. Twin Photon Lizard has several drawbacks on
the surface. It has to be fusion summoned and it
only has 2400 attack. The real worth of this fusion
monster is in its effect. By tributing it, you can
summon the two Photon monsters you used for the
fusion summon. With the Photon monsters we currently
have, this means that you can create rank 3, 4, 6,
7, and 8 Xyz monsters.
All you need is polymerization or Future Fusion and
a deck that runs Photon monsters. This is where a
card like Photon Sabre Tiger comes in handy as all
you need is one to get another. You can also use
Twin Photon Lizard to bring out two Galaxy-Eyes
Photon Dragons. Its funny how this one card keep
popping up. Will Twin Photon Lizard put Photon decks
on the map? Only time will tell.

Our last day of Card names you can't say real
fast week brings us to Twin Photon Lizard. I didn't
think too highly when I saw this card, but I did
some research and this card is very playable is a
well built Photon deck. Lizard is a level 6
LIGHT/Dragon/Fusion (They still make fusions?) with
2400 ATK and 1000 DEF, and needs any 2 Photon
monsters to mush together to get this out. Its
effect is you can tribute this card to special
summon the fusion material monsters used for the
fusion summoning of this monster. I see this card
more as a stepping stone for getting out Xyz
monsters or using it to get 2 Galaxy Eyes Photon
Dragons. You have Photon monsters at levels from 3-8
and you can use Future Fusion and/or Dragon's Mirror
to speed this process up. You guys do the math
there. Overall, by itself, Twin Photon Lizard is a
solid monster with decent stats with an effect that
can get you the Xyz monster of your choosing, or
just to flood the field with 2,000 plus beaters.
Photon users, please use...you have no excuse not
to.

Twin Photon Lizard
"A monster in the Extra Deck that's not Synchro or
Xyz? What is this blasphemy?!"
First of all, if you have space in your Extra Deck
and you run at least two Photons, it's always
justifiable to consider TPL in your deck.
TPL, the only Fusion in the Photon family, has
really lax requirements for Fusion Material. This
ruins any chance for Hex-Sealed Fusion, but it also
means that, in a given Photon Deck, Polymerization
with any two other monsters equals an instantaneous
TPL. You'll also likely use its effect the same turn
its summoned, so the existence of this Fusion
Monster basically means any Polymerization means
"Special Summon two Photon monsters from your hand,"
which can be a very beastly pair of Galaxy-Eyes
Photon Dragons. You can flash your opponent into a
spasmodic blight, then follow this up with a Rank 8
Xyz, including the Hieroglyph Dragons or a possible
Neo Galaxy-Eyes. Also, the Photon archetype uses a
fair amount of Dragons (including TPL itself!), and
wherever there's Dragons, Future Fusion is an
omnipresent force (there's Dragon Mirror too,
although I don't greatly recommend using that to
play TPL).
On Dueling Network, I have a Kaito deck, which of
course runs TPL. Also in that deck are the Cyber
Fusions and Twin Thunder Dragon. Six Samurai and
Blackwings may focus on Synchros. Inzektors and
Wind-Ups may focus on Xyzs. But the Photon archetype
(whilst having three Xyzs of their own), can quite
easily revive a strategy of mass Fusions.
Niche Decks: Photons, of course, but you can easily
run this card if you use any Photons in your generic
Dragon Deck. If you splash any Photons at all, this
card is worth consideration on the off-chance your
opponent plays Fusion Gate.
Traditional: 2/5
Advanced: 4/5 (Photons are a pretty vast archetype,
related to the Butterfly Assassin archetype. Using
Polymerization or Future Fusion is not mandated in
these decks, but if you want to swarm with GEPD
badly, this Fusion is a must.)
Aesthetics: 3.5/5 Kaiba used Blue-Eyes. Chazz
used...a whole lot of stuff. Jack didn't give a lot
of focus to archetypes. It's interesting to see
Kaito to use the Light Photon archetype.
Philosophy Corner: Suppose you are shown a lizard,
and then you are shown lizard from a different
hemisphere from the first. Despite being from
different hemispheres, they are still the same to
you: A lizard is a lizard. Why should anything else
be different?
