Well we have a theme week, specifically of the Evo
nature...opening things is Evoltile Westlo. As
you may or may not know, or at least will discover
the rest of the week, this family of Monsters likes
to Special Summon one another, and when done, the
respective Monster gains an effect or effects.
In this case, you can Special Summon another Monster
of the family when Westlo is Flipped. A bit
slow, and odd for a Special Summon to happen, but
the 1900 defense makes this a nice set at the very
least. It's not the most exciting of these
Monsters, but it's a necessary one.

We are reviewing some of the monsters from one of
the new archetypes this week. The Evol theme. Evol’s
can be a pretty powerful deck type because of their
ability’s to make powerful Xyz Evolzar monsters.
Currently we have Laggia and Dollka with more to
come. Today’s card is the catalyst for making
Evolsaurs come alive. With a pretty beefy 1900
defense, Evoltile Westlo can special summon any
Evolsaur from your deck and sense Evolsaurs effects
activate when they are special summoned, you get
their effects right away.
Evolsaur monsters work much like Gladiator Beasts in
that they have a tool box of monsters they can
special summon depending on what effect they need.
Evolsaurs can blow up spells and traps, search out
other monsters, add defense, and summon from the
graveyard. If you have an Evolsaur in the graveyard,
use Westlo to special summon Evolsaur Vulcano and
Vulcano’s effect to special summon the Evolsaur in
your graveyard and get its effect. Then Xyz into
Evolzar Laggia.
Evoltile Westlo is a Reptile so you can use Offering
to the Snake Deity with it. The Evolzar Xyz monsters
alone make Evol’s a viable deck type. As we get more
pieces to the puzzle with each new set, we could see
this archetype in the top tiers and Evoltile Westlo
will be a key factor. Having to set Westlo is a
disadvantage as most decks today are aggressive and
a set card becomes a shooting duck, but it could be
well worth the wait.

The rest of the week is dedicated the Evolving
archtype. First up, Evoltile Westlo. He stand is as
a level 3, Fire/Reptile with 700 ATK and 1900 DEF.
Its flip effect is special summon 1 Evolsaur monster
from your deck. 700 ATK, meh....but 1900 DEF can
hold up to most of the usual suspects running around
in most decks. Westlo is mainly used to get Evolsaur
Vulcano to use Vulcano's effect to get another
Evolsaur, and Xyz into what you want/need. Even if
Westlo get destroyed by battle, you get another
monster out. A good card for the archtype.

Angelic Nightmare
Today we have a very interesting card for a new
archetype, Evol.
Evoltile Westlo
Reptile/ Fire/ Lv 3/ ATK 700/ 1900 DEF
FLIP: Special Summon 1 "Evolsaur" monster from your
Deck.
This card has a very simple effect, flip and search.
It is easy to follow and the search criterion has
minimal restrictions (usually Evolsaur Vulcano).
This effect is great for getting another monster to
use as xyz fodder or synchro fodder if you have a
tuner. The defense of this card leaves it standing
at a very good position. In most decks, most cards
can’t run over it that easily without having to
synchro/xyz/tribute summon. Popular cards like
Thunderking Raioh are forced to have a staring with
Westlo. With situations like that it can leave you
with a wall that is a perfect target for Offering to
the Snake Diety.
Pros: Searchable via Sangan, Self-replacing, Good
defense stats for today’s meta.
Cons: Although it has a good effect for its
archetype, it is slightly hindered only due to the
amount of options available.

"FLIP: Special Summon 1 "Evolsaur" monster from your
Deck."
A new archetype this week: Evolsaurs. The basic
theme so far is monsters that gain effects by being
special summoned from the deck. Unlike Gladiator
Beasts, however, they don't require you to attack
with one monster and return it to the deck to bring
out the new monster. So far, there's little to the
archetype, but give it another set or two to see the
full benefits of this deck, and we might have a
decent theme deck on our hands.
EW is the linch-pin of the deck, helping you to
get out your Evolsaurs. With a pleasantly high DEF,
this guy is likely to stick around for awhile. Since
cards that destroy facedown monsters don't get a lot
of use these days, flip effect monsters are fairly
safe to use. You'll definately want three of him in
your deck, but make sure to watch out in case
Nobleman of Crossout makes a return.
