Finally we get to the other powerful Xyz monster
for Dinosaurs, Evolsaur Laggia. While Evolsaur
Dolkka can only do one thing, negate monster effects
(and does it well), Laggia has several effects that
can cripple your opponents strategy. First, it
negates the normal or special summon of a monster.
It does not stop monsters that are summoned with an
effect or flip summoned. For instance, it will not
be able to negate monsters special summoned through
the effects of Mystic Tomato, Gorz, Battle Fader,
Lumina, Glow-up Bulb, Venus, Dark World monsters,
and Zombie Master. That is what Dolkka is used for.
It will stop monsters with inherent summons like
Chaos monsters, Cyber Dragon, Machina Fortress, and
Grapha.
The second effect that Laggia has is to negate
spells and traps. Power cards like Mirror Force,
Dark Hole, Monster Reborn, and Miracle Fusion are
all stopped dead in their tracks. Unfortunately, you
can only use Laggia’s effects once unless you have a
way to get more material. The effects are also quick
effects so you can use them on ether players turn
and in the damage step.
Getting Evolsaur Laggia to the field is a piece of
cake for a Dinosaur deck. Evol decks can accomplish
this feet easily enough using cards we review this
week. Hydrogeddon and Jurrac Guaiba are recruiters
that can get 2 level 4 monsters to the field fairly
fast. And then there is the tried and true method of
Rescue Rabbit with Sabersaurus’s and Kabazauls.

Evol week(s) is at an end (We assume) and we're
closing it out with a pretty good one, but is it as
good as yesterday's card? Let's find out by looking
at Evolzar Laggia. Laggia is a Rank 4 Xyz
Fire/Dragon type, that needs 2 Level 4 Dnosaur type
monsters. It weighs in with 2400 ATK and 2000 DEF.
Laggia's effect is when a monster(s) is normal or
special summoned, or a spell/trap card is activated,
you can detach 2 Xyz materials from this card to
negate the summon or activation and destroy that
card. Overall, a great card, a Solemn card with
serious muscle. Your opponent will have to think a
few moves ahead when they see this thing hit the
field. And just like yesterday's card, Rescue Rabbit
can get this out quick. Even Jurrac decks can speed
up the Xyz summoning of Laggia. The only down side
is, as good as an effect that it is, you can only do
it once, as you need to detach 2 Xyz materials to
get Laggia's effect, so use it wisely, and hope your
opponent is not trying to bait you out into using
this effect. Overall, this is a great card, with a
great effect, but use it wisely.

We close up the week with a , to put it simply,
monster version of Solemn Judgement. The only false
truth about my last statement is that it is spell
speed 2 so it cannot stop counter traps. Just like
Thunderking Raioh and Solemn Judgement it has the
same limitations meaning that it can negate inherent
special summons (i.e. synchro summons, XYZ summons,
Cyber Dragon-like effects) and not the effects that
special summon a monster like Gorz, Tragoedia,
Battle Fader, etc.. Just like I mention in
yesterdays CotD review:
“Primarily seen in the infamous Dino-Rabbit decks
utilizing 3x Rescue Rabbit, 3x Kabozauls, and 3x
Sabersaraus, this card as long as its counterpart
put in some pretty decent work. The budget builds
also run an efficient semi-aggro engine that use
Jurrac Guiba and/or Hydrogeddons. With Guiba
Hydrogeddon yielding similar effects, they both are
key players that get the job done fast when running
over your opponent’s chump blockers.”
Unlike Dolkka, Laggia can at the very least ram into
a Monarch.
Pros: Excellent negation properties, respectable
stats, and good card over all.
Cons: It can’t stop non-inherent summons or effects.

Another great XYZ to round off the week. Sadly,
EL has a higher cost than yesterday's card, but has
a wider scope. Better A & D, but still as
restrictive to pull off. This guy's effect will only
happen once, but is much more versatile and can shut
down anything the opponent tries to use. A must have
for any dino deck.
