Equip only to a Spellcaster-Type monster that has a Level. It gains ATK equal to its Level × 100. If the equipped monster is destroyed by your opponent's card (either by battle or card effect) and sent to the Graveyard, and this card is sent to the Graveyard as a result: You can Special Summon that monster from the Graveyard.

Bound Wand I really REALLY want to like. Bound Wand
is quite the interesting Equip Magic card. That
automatically makes you likely not to want to play
this, but let's take a look. Bound Wand can only be
equipped to a Spellcaster-type Monster that has a
Level. Said Monster gains attack equal to its Level
x100. That honestly is garbage. I mean, couldn't
it be something respectable, 300 or 400? But
continuing on, for a positive, if the equipped
Monster is destroyed, by Battle OR by a card effect
(this IS good) and sent to the Graveyard, and this
card is as a result, you can Special Summon the
Monster that was equipped with this card. This is,
in all honesty, one of the most bizarre Special
Summons of all time. The biggest problem I believe
is that this card will get destroyed long before the
Monster.

We finally get some support for Spellcasters, or
is it a prelude for things to come? Bound Wand will
not only make your Spellcaster stronger, but it will
also revive it when it is destroyed and goes to the
graveyard. I normally do not like equip cards, but
Bound Wand is not a negative one like most equip
cards are.
Currently we do not have a huge number of
Spellcasters that we care that much about to want to
protect it with such vigor. Chaos Sorcerer is
probably the best Spellcaster being played today
worth protecting. Bound Wand’s real value will be
seen with the advent of the next set, Return of the
Duelist. That set introduces a new Spellcaster
archetype called Prophecy monsters. Along with
Spellbooks, these monsters possess mystical
abilities.
It is hard to say if Bound Wand will be able to make
a splash in the new Meta in the months to come or
even if it will find deck space. If your
Spellcasters that you are running have good enough
abilities that having them on the field gives you
advantage over your opponent, then I think that we
will see this card played. As for right now, I am
going to have to rate this card low, but keep Bound
Wand in your binder for future use.

The end of the week brings us to Bound Wand. To
me, it looks like the Dark Magician's pimp cane.
Anyway, it's an equip card, there are a few really
good equip cards in the game, Premature Burial, D.D.
Reincarnation, Double Tool C&D, and Butterfly
Dagger-Elma. Bound Wand is somewhere in the middle.
You can only equip it to a Spellcaster type monster,
and it gains ATK equal to its level times 100. So a
level 4 Spellcaster gains 400 ATK. When the equipped
monster is destroyed by any means and is sent to the
graveyard along with Bound Wand, you can special
summon that monster that was equipped to it.
Overall, it's a nice way to bring back a
Spellcaster, especially something like The Dark
Magician that is just a huge beatstick that keeps
coming back. But in this 3x MST and 1x Storm format,
and the Solemn brigade lurking in your opponent's
Spell/Trap zones, this card may not last too long.
Maybe after Sept. this card could see a spot in
Spellcasters.

If you wanna go back, I gave a pretty good score
for yesterday's Mirror Gate, if that interests you.
The ATK boost, while something, is completely
worthless. A Level 4 monster will get 400 ATK. Even
if equipped to a Level 8 monster, the power boost
pales to that of United We Stand.
How utterly un-incredible.
Anyway, now for the main part of the effect.
At least the part about it not being able to be
equipped to Xyzs matters little...considering they
lose all importance once they lose their Overlay
Units even if revived.
Assuming Bound Wand doesn't get blasted by Mystical
Space Typhoon or something, if the equipped
Spellcaster is destroyed, it can come back once. It
doesn't even prevent the destruction nor does it
shield it from being "sent" to the Graveyard. And as
far as I know, there aren't any Spellcasters like
Zombyra the Dark that benefit from leaving the field
temporarily or Elemental HERO Stratos that has an
effect that triggers on their Special Summon. And
because the Spellcaster does get destroyed, if it
were attacking and it ran into a Mirror Force, you'd
be forced to declare the attack again, and bad stuff
can happen. I dunno, maybe you're low on LP and you
can afford your monster being destroyed by battle in
ATK Mode once and you resummon it in Defence?
There is one possible combo with The Kick Man and
DNA Surgery, with a third card to make use of this
infinite loop, such as something that happens
whenever a monster you have is revived, destroyed,
you take damage, etc. (examples being Rainbow Life
and Card of Safe Return). I wouldn't really try it,
but unless you wanna try something new...
If I could change this card:
Trap Card
After activation, equip to a Spellcaster-Type
monster. Twice per turn, that monster cannot be
destroyed.
Then just change the name to Gagagashield and
presto, you get a card THAT ALREADY EXISTS!
This card is trash.
Trad: 1/5 (it won't even revive Dark Magician of
Chaos)
Adv: 1/5 (would probably be more had Gagagashield
not existed, but even then I'd only give it bonus .5
at max because it's better to chain a card to
protect your monster against destruction right at
the last minute, like using Effect Veiler, Safe
Zone, or Forbidden Lance, and being able to give one
of your Spellcasters a one-time life insurance
policy is pretty nifty but nowhere near worth the
effect of an entire card)
Aesthetics: 1/5 It's a ruby on a stick. Uuuh, the
shading is nice, I guess? One possible way this card
could get more support is "Wand" support; the only
other Wand card is Wonder Wand (also used by Yuma
Tsukumo). Wands are Spellcasters' Equip Cards with
some jewel atop a skull-faced connector.
Philosophy Corner: "Any card, so long it exists, has
the potential to be useful. Someone who would
reject his cards by calling them 'trash' does not
deserve to call himself a duelist." -Yusei Fudo

TGIF!!! Hey guys, Blackmarketyugioh living up
another Friday, and giving today's CotD.
Bound Wand

Okay, I see the need to have support for
spellcasters every once in a while, and we will be
getting more in the release of the new set, but does
anyone really see the point of this card? Yes, it is
a ATK booster, but most spellcasters that are used
now that have a level, are little guys that will not
seriously benefit from the boost. The graveyard
recursion is always a good thing, but I just do not
see the point. Equip it to Breaker, he becomes a
2300, until you use his effect, then he's 2000. And
will get summoned again if destroyed. Not bad, but
not good either. I am not completely sure about the
spellcasters in the new set, but I have yet to
research at the moment. If someone has a way to
utilize this card, feel free to let me know, I loved
spellcasters in the old days.
Advanced: 1/5 It may have uses, but they are beyond
me right now.
Traditional: 1/5 Wash, rinse, and repeat Advanced.
Artwork: 2/5 Again, it's a foil, and the stone on
that wand must be huge!
