Closing out week dos of Hieratics, is the Dragon
King of Atum, a Light attributed, Rank 6 XYZ
Monster, with 2400 attack and 2100 defense, who is
XYZ Summoned with two Level 6 Monsters. Now, by
discarding an XYZ Material from this Monster, you
can Special Summon a Dragon Monster from your Deck
(not a Hieratic, or Normal, specifically, simply a
Dragon) but its attack and defense still become 0.
It's great that your possibility of what you can
choose to Special Summon has greatly increased to
any Dragon you have in the Deck. But the big
downside is that this Monster can't attack in the
turn you use this effect. Realistically, I assume
that you're comboing here for something huge, and
winning the game, so not being able to attack with
this card is a small price to pay. Nevertheless,

Our last card of the this two week long look at
Hieratics is their King, Hieratic Dragon King of
Atum. A rank 6 Xyz, with the decent of stats 2400
ATK and 2100 DEF, you need 2 level 6 Dragon types to
summon Atum. In a good Hieratic deck, a lot easier
than it sounds. Atum's effect is pretty good. Once
per turn you can detach one Xyz material to special
summon one Dragon-Type monster from your deck, and
make its ATK and DEF 0. That monster cannot attack
that turn. The best part of this, is that while your
special summoned Dragon might have its stats turned
into the Yugioh equivalent of a wet paper bag, if it
has an effect, it still gets it. So REDMD can
special summon other dragons, or Galaxy Eyes can be
banished and brought back at full strength with its
own effect. Atum can open up a lot of plays for Xyz
or Synchro summoning.

Interesting, give up his attack to search for any
Dragon that loses all it's A&D. Clearly this card is
meant for speeding up XYZ summoning. He has decent
stats, I suppose, but I always feel that XYZs shouls
have above-normal stats. Still, he's a bit of
mid-level muscle and helps get out other XYZs, so
he's alright in the deck, but not the best HD there
is.

TGIF. I have been waiting on this one all week.
Wait, we all wait for Fridays, right? HAHA.
Anyway, To round out the week of Hieratics, we have
one of the main cards that keep this deck running.
Hieratic Dragon King Of Atum
This 6 rank, 2400/2100 badboy needs 2 level 6
dragonsd to bring out. And how simple that can be.
The version of Hieratics that focus on 6 rank spam
can not only throw this baboy out fast, it can throw
multiples out with the same speed. I play this
version of Hieratics, and I love it. I will drop the
first Atum, use his effect, run off more Hieratic
shenanigans, Xyz into another one, more shenanigans,
and then overlay the 2 Atums for Gaia Dragons, and
finish with a Force Focus for OTK, or a Strike
Bounzer for a little longer game.
Atum is premo neeed for any version of Hieratics to
be good, and I really cannot run the deck without at
least 2. This deck is fastest focusing on the 6 rank
spam, and it's OTK capabilties are right up there
with Chaos Dragons. This is a extremely gun deck to
play, and even though it does run the same as some
of the auto-pilots we have running around now, it is
a great deck.

You think the Rank 8 Xyz's potential for destruction
was good? Well the King lets you summon practically
ANY Dragon ANYwhere PERIOD.
It is VERY easy to Xyz Summon this, even easier than
the Rank 8 Xyz (well, obviously, Dr. Phyll). You
just use the Normal Dragon Wattaildragon and/or
Hieratic Dragon of Su (and I guess sometimes Tefnuit).
Although the monster still gets crippled in its
stats, you are not limited to summoning a Normal
Monster, and YES that means you do get to pull out a
monster for all sorts of Xyz and Synchro options,
but most often the target selected wil be Red-Eyes
Darkness Metal Dragon, and this opens up gates of
enormous possibilities from there. This should be
able to make it VERY EASY to Xyz Summon a second
Atum which in turn expresses my wish that REDMD was
Limited the second it was released. Another
possibility is summoning Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon,
which by its own effect can completely restore its
ATK, but this pales in comparison the immediate
advantage REDMD boasts. A curious option is Inferno
Reckless Summon; this will allow you to summon a
triplet of ANY Dragon Atum brings out (because the
ATK will be 0), and the clones will be at full
power. This way, you can have triple REDMD for the
massive triple Rank 10 Xyz with 5000 ATK or triple
GEPD and transition into NGEPD (but if you summon
NGEPD, Atum still can't attack). But by this point
I'm just getting fancy and grabbing a single REDMD
is the most basic path.
Yeah, I realize Atum won't be able to attack the
turn it does this. Use Gaia Thunder-Charger and the
door is open for OTK. As for your twin REDMD with 0
ATK, just Xyz Rank 10.
Outside of Hieratics, it becomes considerably harder
to summon this. Dragunities MIGHT be able to summon
this most easily, other than them. If you have a
high amount of Dragons and can swarm with Level 6
monsters, use Atum, but I think it may be a hard
feat to accomplish. Despite the ease (or lack
thereof in non-Hieratic Decks), the power to whip
out any Dragon from your deck is an incredibly
powerful play; I should not waste my time in saying
any more. Oh, and also, if you're playing IRL, the
Hieratic Deck can get very expensive, when you need
multiple REDMD, Atums, Gaia Chargers, etc.

Aesthetics: 4/5 Atum/Atem is the primal
(initial) Egyptian god, the god of existence. There
are many conflicting stories to how He was born, but
He created the second generation (Shu and Tefnut) by
spitting them out. One day they got lost, and when
He found them again, He got so happy he cried, and
that's how life on earth was made. Sometimes He also
worked with Ra to be in charge of the sun (Ra was in
charge of dawn and Atum with dusk). Iusaaset has
been described as His wife, but She has since fallen
into obscurity. There is also some inconsitency with
how Ra and His (possible) wife Hathor came to be,
but Atum is generally accepted as the number one
god. At least, in terms of this card, they had the
sense to turn it into the most dynamic Hieratic
monster. It makes sense too, as pretty much most
people never heard of Atem before (except as the
Pharaoh's real name) and they probably go to assume
Ra (Sun Dragon Overlord) or Set (Sutekh) or some
other "more famous Egyptian God" is the leader of
them all. That's similar to how there are two other
Hieratic monsters that SEEM more powerful than Atum,
but really, THIS guy is the best Hieratic of them
all. Otherwise, I like the contrast between the
yellow of its Stars, Attibute, and armour alongside
the black of its skin and the card borderline.
Philosophy Corner: I got in my articles for
Wednesday and Thursday. I am sorry they are late; I
try my very best to get everything in on time.
