Tasuke Knight, a Level 4, Light attributed, Warrior
Monster, all good things to start, as referred to
earlier this week, and should be common sense. 1700
attack is respectable while the 100 defense leaves
something to be desired. If this card is in your
Graveyard, and your opponent declares an attack, you
can Special Summon Tasuke Knight from the Graveyard
AND end the Battle Phase. Now, what's wrong with
this, not a whole lot, about nothing? It would be
nicer if it could be Special Summoned from your
Hand, but to use this effect, you must have no cards
in your Hand. That doesn't kill this card, but it
makes using it that much harder. Some cards are
worth getting to the Graveyard to use their effect,
in my opinion, this is not.

Tasuke Knight is a pretty cool Light Warrior
monster with one big effect. With 1700 attack, it is
not much to look at. It also has an unfortunate
limitation in that you can’t have any cards in your
hand, which is something good Yu-Gi-Oh players
normally frown upon. For that reason, you will
probably not want to be playing a lot of monsters.
The other unfortunate side effect is that you can
use the effect only once so playing more than one
Tasuke Knight would probably not be beneficial.
Decks that may find good use for Tasuke Knight are
Light or Lightswarn Decks, Warrior Decks, and
possibly Infernity Decks. With Lightswarn, we have
Lumina, the mill effects, and Beckoning Light to
easily dump Tasuke Knight. With Warrior Decks, we
have The Immortal Bushi, Synchron, X-Saber, and
Samurai Decks that can utilize Tasuke Knight for
Synchro and Xyz summons.
In closing, it is my belief that the limitations
placed on Tasuke Knight hurt the playability of the
card. Having it teched into one of the above decks
would make for some interesting drama. Getting a
special summon after you just negated your
opponent’s battle phase is pretty darn nifty.

Today we look at Tasuke Knight. A card that
reminds me of Battle Fader, but i'll get into that
in a bit. Tasuke Knight, a Level 4,
Light/Warrior-Type, stands in with 1700 ATK and 100
DEF. Not too bad. Tasuke's effect, much like Battle
Fader's, can end the battle phase. When an
opponent's monster declares an attack, while you
have no cards in your hand and this card is in your
graveyard, you can special summon this card from
your graveyard and end the battle phase. You can
only use this effect once during the current duel.
What I like about this card is that it doesn't care
how it gets to the graveyard, so cards like Foolish
Burial can get that going. The hard part is that to
get it's effect you need 0 cards in your hand during
your opponent's turn. You wanna catch someone off
guard, a card like Full Salvo can send your entire
hand and damage your opponent for each card on their
turn. Tasuke can also work in a Infernity deck, if
you can find the room for it.

Hey Duelists, Coming to you with today's COTD is

Today we will be discussing: Tasuke Knight.
Effect, Light, level 4, Warrior, 1700/100

BMY- ok, this card has it
possibilities. Reminds me of a graveyard based Zero
Gardna. With the Gorz requirement being his
downfall..and also only being able to use it once
per duel. But, it can be the make or break card that
saves your life points in a tough spot.
SS- I absolutely concure dear chap,
whaca be said that you havent already discussed
minus the fact that this card is able to set up a
top decking xyz summon. If all conditions are met.
BMY- Yes you are correct. But at that
point in the game, you're already in a bad spot. So
really I do not see this card being played anywhere.

A Yuma card. This is quite the antithesis for Battle
Fader. Battle Fader summons itself from the hand to
block a direct attack, while Tasuke summons itself
from the Grave to block any attack, granted you have
no hand.
The fact that Tasuke ends the Battle Phase is good,
and if my opponent is in a situation with Tasuke in
the Grave and no hand, I admit that's rather
annoying, especially since Tasuke will likely be
used up for a Synchro or Xyz. Otherwise, however,
Tasuke is unimpressive, especially given how you
need to be handless in order to use him. Not a lot
of Decks like to catch themselves in a situation
without a hand, and I really doubt Infernities have
any business using this card. Lightsworns can mill
Tasuke easily, but I still advise against purposely
milling your own hand (as a Lightsworn player)
solely to use Tasuke. That's why, in pretty much all
cases, Necro Gardna is much more reliable.
I wouldn't say Tasuke is without his niches, but for
attack blocking, I think cards such as Battle Fader
or Threatening Roar are much less awkward additions.
At least they don't have some restraining clause
that forces you to use only one of them, as is
Tasuke's case.
