Elemental HERO The Shining...will we EVER be done reviewing Elemental Heroes?  We have a Level 8, Light attributed, Fusion Monster (Fusion Summoned with one Elemental Hero and one Light Monster).  2600 attack is a bit low for a Level 8 Monster, and this guy can ONLY be Fusion Summoned, and NOT Special Summoned in any other ways.  The Shining gains 300 attack for each of your removed Elemental Heroes.  Not the greatest of effects their either, as Elemental Hero Decks actually do NOT want their Heroes removed.  On the plus side, when sent from the Field to the Graveyard, you can target up to two of your removed Elemental Heroes, and add the selected Monster(s) to your Hand.  As "good" as that seems, it seems like you'd at least be able to bring them back to the Field.  As odd as it seems, this thing fails, even as a Hero.

Angelic Nightmare

Hello and welcome to what is arguably the best Elemental HERO monster alongside Absolute Zero.

Elemental HERO the Shinning

Warrior/ Light/ Lv 8/ 2600 ATK/ 2100 DEF

1 "Elemental HERO" monster + 1 LIGHT monster

Must be Fusion Summoned and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. This card gains 300 ATK for each of your banished "Elemental HERO" monsters. When this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: You can target up to 2 of your banished "Elemental HERO" monsters; add those targets to your hand.

Previously only available to those who bought the manga, is now available by buying a simple premium tin at your local card supplier.

In today’s meta game, many people had forgotten about the potential HERO decks can have, and with the up and coming Bubbleman Turbo deck that has been taking Dueling Network by storm, it abuses Absolute Zero and The Shinning. Most duelists will use Miracle Fusion to bring this big guy out and will give him an instant boost to at the very least 2900 ATK. If it is destroyed and if it does not miss it’s timing you can basically recycle the two E-HERO monsters you sent. One great combo you can have with this card is in Gate HERO deck. Activate Fusion Gate and send Alius/Neos/Sparkman and another E-HERO to make The Shinning. When The Shinning is destroyed you return the same two monster used to make it back to your hand and repeat during your turn. A small loop, but easily limited.

Pros: Fantastic Effect and recycles your own monsters.

Cons: Optional Effect = Possible Missed Timing

"Redrum! Redrum!" ...oh wait... wrong Shining...

Well, it's an interesting card, but certainly an odd one too. He only really works in an Elemental Hero deck that uses Fusion Gate, as that's the only way I'd see E Heroes getting removed from play enough to make using him worthwhile. Not the best E Hero fusion, but not the worst, either. E Hero decks tend to murder your hand, though, which is the reason I no longer play the deck. It's a fun card, but not super important or ground breaking.

Shining is of a sextuplet of E-HERO Fusions from the manga that require one Elemental Hero and one specific Attribute as materials. Escuridao uses Dark, Gaia uses Earth, Great Tornado uses Wind, Nova Master uses Fire, and Shining, of course, uses Light. Absolute Zero of the Water Attribute is the one most commonly played, and ironically enough, A0 needs any HERO monster, not specifically E-HEROes.

Anyways, as long as you have a healthy amount of E-HEROes in your Deck and a way to Fusion Summon (usually with Fusion Gate or, more dastdardly, with Super Polymerization), you'll be likely using at least one each of all of the six aforementioned brothers. Fusion Gate is the one most appropiate for Shining, as it makes him at least 3200 ATK and can get his materials back whenever he bites the dust (he doesn't even have to be destroyed!).

That in itself is a good reason to use Shining, ASSUMING you can summon him reliably (and even if you can't, he's worth splashing in on the off-chance that your opponent plays Fusion Gate and you have Extra Deck space, but these three things are extremely rare events [that you use E-HEROes without capitalizing on their Fusion potential, your opponent has Gate, and your Extra Deck isn't cramped]).

That in itself is very good, even if you are NOT using Miracle Fusion/Fusion Gate (if only to get back monsters that died from BTH/DPrison, flexibility of its summon, Super Polymerization on top of that).

There is also a more sinister potential in Shining's use, as the use of a supplement for the infamous Chain Material-Fusion Gate OTK with the Rank 10 Xyz. You see, E-HERO Electrum is, primarily, a Light monster, meaning he can be used as Shining's Fusion Material (well, technically, any of the aforementioned E-HERO sextuplets can have Electrum as Fusion Material, but Shining is the most flexible and most practical). In this manner, Shining can recycle Electrums, not through Shining's own effect, but by banishing Electrum so that a SECOND Electrum can bring the first one back. This cycle goes on and on until you manage to burn the opponent away with the Rank 10 Xyz (expect to have a field filled with Fusions at the end of this as well). Even without Fusion Gate and simply Chain Material, you can simply summon Shining for the sake of destroying him and using the search ability.
