Masked HERO Acid...another of the Mask "Fusions" although hardly a Fusion in technical terms, as summoned via Mask Change.  Anyway, Acid is a Level 8, Water attributed, Warrior type Monster, with 2600 attack and 2100 defense.  I'll say again I think 2800 should be base for a Level 8 Monster, so I consider the 2600 is low.  Although Mask Change is a unique and easy enough way to summon a Fusion Monster.  As is standard, Acid can only be Special Summoned via Mask Change, and not in any other way.  Anyway Acid destroys all Magic and Trap cards on your opponent's Field when Special Summoned.  All your opponent's Monsters lose 300 attack and defense for all cards destroyed by this effect.  Now let's say on average your opponent control three Magic or Trap cards at any given time, that's obviously a 900 attack loss, which is quite respectable.  Could be as few as two, or even maybe luckily as many as four.  However, things are not normal...we still live in a world of triple Mystical Space Typhoon and a Heavy Storm, people don't play or set that many cards, so I'm thinking if you got TWO cards destroyed that would be lucky.  600 point decrease, but you still have a 2600 attack Monster, I mean, it's not the worst thing in the world.

The second card we are looking at is Masked HERO Acid. A fusion monster, that can only be summoned via the effect of Mask Change, has really good stats with 2600 ATK and 2100 DEF, Acid can overrun a lot of what's out there. However, Acid's effect is where it's at. Being able to wipe out your opponent's back row is oh so good. Even if it falls into Bottomless Trap Hole, you can still get its effect. These Masked HERO monsters aren't that bad, and Acid is one of the better ones.

Masked HERO Acid
Warrior/ Lv 8/ Water/ 2600 ATK/ 2100 DEF

Must be Special Summoned with "Mask Change" and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. When this card is Special Summoned: Destroy all Spell and Trap Cards your opponent controls, and if you do, all monsters they control lose 300 ATK.

Hello everyone! Today we are reviewing the long awaited Masked HERO acid! Continuing with yet another HERO spinoff archetype? This is probably the best of the Masked HERO monsters as it acts as a Harpie’s Feather Duster and knocks there monsters down a peg. To me, that is a very worthwhile effect. There are a select few monsters that bring this guy out with masked change and most notably they are Elemental HERO(s) Bubbleman, Ocean, and my favorite Absolute Zero.

Overall, this card is pretty good. Not a lot is going to be running this thing over albeit a Synchro monster or Acid Golem and is devastating with good timing. The best combo I love doing is using Miracle Fusion to special summon Absolute Zero and attack, but during the battle phase activate Masked Change to bring out this bugger and you have instantly cleaned your opponents field completely. I’m sure there are other strategies, but this is a fairly new card so go out there and try out some unique builds!

Pros: Decent Stats, Good effect, and allows your weaker monsters to run over some bigger creatures.
Cons: You need mask change and a WATER e-HERO. Beware the Warning, Judgement, and Starlight Road.

Masked HERO Acid
Lv 8/WATER/Warrior-Fusion/2600A/2100D
"Must be Special Summoned with "Mask Change" and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. When this card is Special Summoned: Destroy all Spell and Trap Cards your opponent controls, and if you do, all monsters they control lose 300 ATK."

Well, since this card requires a special, non-searchable Spell to come into play, as well as a HERO monster with the WATER attribute as well, such as Elemental Hero Bubbleman, MHA is rather difficult to summon. Also, his stats are somewhat dismal for a Level 8 monster. While his effect is well worth the effort, the chances of success are rather low, so I feel that he's not really worth the effort. There's no real support for Masked HEROes anyways, so the deck will remain a fun theme deck at best.

Yeeup, we got new Masked HEROes for a total of four!

A clearly more offensive version of M-HERO Vapor, Acid is not a terribly hard card to play (it also means you can use Mask Change on Vapor himself into Acid). Granted, there aren't that many Water HEROes, but hey, it's an Extra Deck card. HERO Decks tend to have a problem with Extra Deck space, but good HERO Decks shouldn't try to cram all their possible strategies into a single Deck. For those who don't know, Mask Change is a Quickplay that releases any HERO monster for one of those Masked HEROes (based off of Kamen Riders) of the same Attribute.

Acid is an instant Harpie's Feather Duster upon summon. I also interpreted this wrong upon first reading it, but his effect to drop the opponent's power levels is not a bad touch, either. At the very least, it does 300 more damage to the opponent when you massacre his/her Attack Position monsters.

E-HERO Ice Edge can destroy an opponent's Trap/Spell upon attack, so Mask Changing him into Acid is rather contradictory. The other Water HEROes are Bubbleman (he's been seeing more use) and Ocean (not a bad effect, especially for recycling Fusions). Mariner is a Fusion of Bubbleman's that has direct attack properties, so Mask Changing Mariner after he does his 1400 damage or when the opponent tries to Dimension Prison him is good. The same applies to E-HERO Aqua Neos (Neo-Spacian Aqua Dolphin Contact Fusion). Use Aqua Neos' effect to act as Confiscation, attack, Mask Change into Acid. MASSIVE ADVANTAGE! Oh, oh, oh, and let's not forget Absolute Zero. What you call a waste in Tributing a 2500-ATK monster and a waste of Acid's ATK-lowering effect, I see Raigeki-FeatherDuster destruction (and if you're afraid of what might be a facedown Ryko or Snowman Eater, you don't HAVE to attack with Zero before you Mask Change).

Finally, Acid has pretty good stats, both of them surpassing Vapor's. In the age of random bursts of Xyzs or Synchros, Vapor's protection effect doesn't always do him good. Acid's 2600 ATK can shield against Leviathan Dragon and Utopia. You may use Mask Change to have Vapor attack through a Mirror Force (and he isn't immune to Dimensional Prison anyway!), but Acid outright blows it up. And if you chain Mask Change to Mirror Force, you can simply choose to summon Acid in Defense Mode. He still Feather Dusts the field and his ATK-lowering effect protects him against, say, a Caius that the opponent already has. 2100 DEF is also handy against Cyber Dragon should you get caught defending with Acid in the above scenario or with Book of Moon.

Traditional: 2/5 (good it may be, it does zilch to protect you from FTK's)
Advanced: 5/5
Aesthetics: 4/5 FREEZE! I have a water-bottle laser!

Girl: "Why did you throw a grenade into the toilet?"
Boy: "I felt like blowing the crap out of it."
