Well the Heroes are gone, and we move back to Synchro.  This review could be about as simple as this is a FAR inferior version of Driven Daredevil, who we looked at recently, but for the sake of argument, let's say that's not the case.  This is a Level 5, Earth attributed, Warrior-type Synchro, who is Synchro Summoned with a Tuner and one or more non-Tuner-type Monsters.  2100 attack (and 1000 defense) are both about pathetic for a Level 5 Monster.  Anyway, your opponent can't target face-up Warrior Monsters you control for an attack, excluding this card.  That's good, until you remember things like 2100 attack.  Once per turn, if this card would be destroyed by Battle (and it would) it is not destroyed.  That's good too, actually, especially with the low attack, and Six Samurai can make use with this guy IF they really wanted, but I think even they survive just fine without him.

Scarred Warrior gives Warrior’s another option. With a Marauding Captain effect to protect your other Warriors and an effect to protect itself from battle once per turn, Scarred Warrior makes for some pretty interesting strategies.

First, you can use it with Marauding Captain as a lock so your opponent can not attack. Using Marauding Captain with level 2 tuners also allows you to special summon Scarred Warrior on the first turn. Using The Dark Door will keep your opponent from getting through your defenses.

There are a number of decks that love  this card like X-Saber, Six Samurai, Synchron, and even Elemental HERO’s as they run level 4 monsters with Effect Veiler.  Any deck can run it as it does not require anything specific. You still have the second effect to help you out. T.G. decks can get it out fast with Striker and Wolf. The question is, do you have enough space in your extra deck for another level 5 monsters? We currently have  T.G. Hyper Librarian, Ally Justice Cataster, and Magical Android. With only 2100 attack, it is probably not going to replace any of these.

Today's card is Scarred Warrior. Warriors have a lot going for them in various ways and this guy is a fine addition. A easy to bring out level 5 synchro *gasp* monster that isn't weighed down by specific tuners or non tuners. His 2100 ATK is pretty good and his ability to guarding your other warriors by having your opponent go through him first. 1000 DEF, not so much. He can take a punch too as he needs to be attacked twice to be destroyed by battle. Scarred Warrior is one of the better low level Warrior synchros. Splashable in most decks, warrior friendly, and decent stats and effects.

"1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters

Basically he's an attack magnet in Warrior decks and can survive one attack per turn. I'd be happer if his stats were higher, but with his effects, low stats are admittedly fair (but no fun, none the less). An alright card for any Warrior deck using Tuners, but there's more useful cards out there to fill the Lv 5 Synchro slots in the Extra deck.

Ugh.

Well, first of all, Warriors are a very diverse Type. In a general Warrior Toolbox Deck, you can easily use Marauding Captain to play down Torapart, then Synch for this. The lax Synchro requirements is a non-issue seeing as his effect is largely worthless outside a dedicated Warrior Deck (his batle protection effect is rather bland).

He shares an effect with Marauding Captain, allowing him to take part in a "Marauding Captain lock." His protection effect also helps him in this purpose. The point is, he doesn't give you any great advantage for his protection ability. Other than the lock, which the opponent may be able to break, it won't be hard to kill Scar Warrior himself. I mean, your opponent may have some initial difficulty, considering he can fend off a single Cyber Dragon and is not as vulnerable to Smashing Ground (inb4BoM), but he's just not good enough to warrant his foil.

2100 DEF, immunity to Battle Damage, extending his protection effect to ALL monsters, not being able to be destroyed by battle at all:
Any of these upgrades would be suitable for Scar Warrior.

I have a Dark Scorpion Deck. X-Saber Wayne is my choice for a Level 5 Warrior Synchro, who ironically carries Marauding Captain's other effect.

"Brave Dagger Attack" my face.

Niche Decks: Warrior Toolbox, any general Warrior Deck...if for some reason you choose not to use Catastor

Traditional: 1/5
Advanced: 1.5/5
Aesthetics: 3/5 Somewhat uninspiring. He seems like a brave, bandaged warrior that has met the hands of defeat many times and is willing to dedicate his life to the protection of his fellow soldiers.

Philosophy Corner: In the Uglyverse, kids spend most of their time getting ready for the days ahead... Lots of sitting behind desks and learning about things to better prepare you for the days ahead of those days ahead. And those days will be spent preparing for the end of your days. -David Horvath and Sun-Min Kim
