Red Dragon Ninja is a very fun Monster, and I love
the Ninja archtype as a whole. This immediately fit
the profile of pictures I wish were in foil. We
have a Level 6, Fire Monster, with the seemingly
base 2400 attack, and a not so great 1200 defense,
who happens to be a Winged-Beast. That alone, is
unique, as I didn't know Ninjas, nor people, could
be Winged-Beasts, but that could increase his
playability. Red Dragon Ninja is complex, and not,
at the same time. You can use his effect when he is
Summoned, no stipulation as to how, so you're not
forced to Tribute for him to get the effect. You
can banish a Ninja or Ninjitsu Art card from your
Graveyard, to target (note target) a Set card your
opponent controls. That's good, as it can be a Set
Monster, or a Magic or Trap card. Anyway, said card
is returned to the top OR bottom of your opponent's
Deck. Additionally, your opponent cannot activated
the targeted card in response to this effect. They
can still activate other cards to thwart this, but
some protection is better than none. In general,
it's better to destroy than delay, or recycle, given
this case here. I wouldn't fault you for playing
one at all in a Ninja Deck...although he doesn't
look as cool, I think I prefer Blue Dragon Ninja.

RDN is an interesting monster with a rather
useful effect. Being able to shut down a face-down
and them not being able to activate it anyways is i
very good effect. Granted, it's useless if the
opponent can trigger the card as a response to RDN
being summoned, but attack-triggered cards are
useless against him. It seems odd that you can only
use a summon-triggered effect once per turn when the
monster in question is one that requires a tribute,
but I suppose they were thinking of tribute
summoning one and special summoning a second one
from the Graveyard, I suppose, then use them for an
XYZ summon. Because he needs Ninja and Ninjutsu Arts
cards in the Graveyard, he's meant to be a mid or
late game card. Sadly, this also hurts his
splashability as he needs to be in a Ninja deck.

Coming off of making the Almighty Pojo giggle a
little, comes the review of Red Dragon Ninja. A
level 6 FIRE/Winged Beast type with 2400 ATK and
1600 DEF.

First things first, let's call out the elephant in
the room by saying why is this guy a Winged-Beast
and not a Warrior? He's a Ninja. That's like
Grandmaster of the Six Samurai being a Toon. Now
that I've gotten that off my chest....Red Dragon
Ninja is one of those cards that work well in his
archtype. Mainly because his effect goes off when he
gets summoned in any way. Meaning you can use Ninja
Art of Transformation, Tribute summon it, Monster
Reborn, or even through Senior Silver Ninja's
effect. Then Banish a Ninja card in your graveyard
to see a set card your opponent controls and then
decide should it go to the top or bottom of their
deck, even better, they cannot activate said card in
response. All your opponent is watch as Red Dragon
Ninja sends their card to the bottom (or top) of
their deck. His stats are pretty basic for a 6 star
monster, so nothing new there. I know if I were
running Ninjas, this card would find a way into the
deck.

Ninjas get a lift from today’s card. Red Dragon
Ninja has a fantastic effect and all it has to do is
to be summoned. It is a level 6 monster so all it
requires is one tribute. It can also be brought out
with Monster Reborn, Call of the Haunted, and
Ninjitsu Art of Transformation. Once summoned, you
can target any set card your opponent controls and
return it to the top or bottom of the deck. That
gives you a plus one advantage if special summoned.
The best part about it is that your opponent can not
respond with the set card and you get to look at the
set card, and then get to put it to the bottom of
the deck if you cannot deal with it or the top of
the deck if you have answers to it.
Let’s take a better look at Red Dragon Ninja’s
effects. If you target a spell or trap card, that
card can not be activated in response. However, your
opponent can chain another card and then activate
the set card you targeted. The nice thing is that
you get to look at the set card. If it is something
they can not use, then putting it on top of their
deck could give them a dead draw the next turn.
Let’s say it was Bottomless Trap Hole. Sense they
could not activate it, if you are not planning to
summon a 1500 attack or higher monster or you have a
way to deal with spells and traps next turn, simply
put it on top of their deck to give them a dead
draw.
By the way, Red Dragon Ninja gives us the all
American line-up of Red, White, and Blue Dragon
Ninjas. I never realized that Ninjas and/or Dragons
were an American thingy but there you go. Red Dragon
Ninja is a Ninja, so it makes a good addition to a
Ninja deck which sadly needs several more cards to
make it a really good deck. Where White Dragon Ninja
can clog your hand, Red Dragon Ninja can at least be
tribute summoned. If Ninjas ever become top tier, I
would definitely play this card in your deck. I
would also give it better ratings than the ones I am
about to give.
