If you have no "Spellbook" Spell Cards in your Graveyard: Reveal 3 "Spellbook" Spell Cards with different names from your Deck, your opponent randomly adds 1 of them to your hand, and shuffle the rest back into your Deck. You can only activate 1 "Spellbook Library of the Crescent" per turn. You cannot activate any Spell Cards the turn you activate this card, except "Spellbook" Spell Cards.

Closing out the week is Spellbook Library of the
Crescent, one of the more interesting Spellbook
Magic cards out there. This would be a great card
to open a Duel, obviously worse as the Duel goes on,
as you can only use it if you have no Spellbook
Magic cards in your Graveyard. You reveal three
Spellbook Magic cards from your Deck, with different
names, and your opponent randomly adds one to your
Hand. The others are then shuffled back into your
Deck. So this ends up being a 1-for-1, this card
for a Spellbook Magic card from your Deck. You can
only activate one of these a turn, and you can also
only activate Spellbook Magic cards the turn you
activate this card. It's balanced, it adds
resources, and it breaks even.

It is time to go through our Spellbooks class.
Today’s lesson is on Spellbook Library of the
Crescent. As this is the week of most overlooked
cards in the Return of the Duelist set, it should be
of no surprise that Crescent is not very big on
anyone’s Spellbook list. Spellbook Library of the
Crescent has a pretty good effect of searching for
other Spellbooks, but it has two huge problems.
First, you can not have any Spellbooks in your
graveyard to activate Crescent. That is a big
problem when a third of your decks is Spellbooks and
playing Spellbooks each turn to get effects, is what
the strategy is all about. Basically, you ether have
to draw Crescent on your first turn or you need ways
to remove Spellbooks from your graveyard.
The first issue is based on luck, while the other we
can control. The Grand Spellbook Tower can put one
Spellbook back to your deck with the added advantage
of drawing a card and as a continuous spell, it
stays on the field. Hidden Spellbook can put two
back to the deck and as a trap, it does not hinder
Crescent, and Spellbook of Fate can banish 3
Spellbooks but then adds itself to the grave.
Spellbook Magician of Prophecy can add Crescent to
the hand, but again, you have to get it on your
first turn or with the help of Apprentice Magician.
You could try Macro Cosmos with Spellbook Library of
the Crescent, but most of the effects of your
Spellbooks and Prophecy monsters depend on
Spellbooks being in the graveyard. The main
character in the deck, High Priestess of Prophecy,
needs Spellbooks in the graveyard to activate her
effects. The Priestess has good synergy with
Crescent, but keeping her on the field long enough
to keep the grave clear of Spellbooks is not an easy
task.
The Second issue is that we need to have three
different kinds of Spellbooks in the deck and we do
not get to choose which one we get. Mid game, we may
find that one of the three different Spellbooks we
need is ether banished or in our hand. If we need a
Spellbook of Life to keep from loosing, we have a
1/3 chance of getting another Spellbook which may be
of no use to us. I say 1/3, because we could always
get Spellbook of Secrets to get the Spellbook we
need. Like most good players, I am not into letting
luck decide my fate, so playing Spellbook Library of
the Crescent is not an option for me, especially
with the new Spellbooks released in Abyss Rising.

To close off the week, we look at Spellbook
Library of the Crescent. A normal spell card, that
pretty much belongs in one deck, in a Prophecy deck
with a few Spellbook spell cards in it. It's almost
like Pot of Duality mixed with Spellbook of Secrets
in a way. First, you can't have any Spellbook spell
cards in your graveyard. Then you choose and show
your opponent 3 different Spellbook spell cards to
your opponent, they choose one and it goes to your
hand, the other two go back into your deck and
shuffle it. You can only activate this card once per
turn, and you cannot activate any other spell cards
this turn unless they are Spellbook spell cards.
This card is a bit iffy, and I don't see it being
very much useful even in the deck. Spellbook of
Secrets is superior to and not as restrictive as
Crescent is. If you wanna try it, go ahead. But I
wouldn't recommend it very much.
