Levia-Dragon--Daedalus > Poseidra, the Antlatean
Dragon
That could be the entire review, but for arguments
sake, let's see why that's true. Let's take some
time and compare the two. Levia is a Level 7 Sea
Serpent (and I'll note you can add either of these
to your Hand via Wednesday's card) still a Sea
Serpent and has 2600 attack and 1500 defense. 2800
with A Legendary Ocean (which you need, given my
argument for Monday, but you do NOT need for
Poseidra). Levia lets you send Umi (or ALO
obviously) from the Field to the Graveyard to
destroy ALL cards on the Field. That's 2600 free
shot Damage there, pending some chain or effect
going off (but you have to worry about that for
about everything). For the sake of argument, we
will assume that happened successfully. Levia also
can tribute herself for Ocean Dragon Lord--Neo-Daedalus
who has 2900 attack (3100 with ALO) and by sending
the aforementioned Umi/ALO from the Field to the
Graveyard nukes the Field and both players Hands,
minus herself. That's 2900 Damage. Now, Poseidra
has 2800, and would be Level 6 with A Legendary
Ocean instead of Level 7, but in order to get the
effect off here, you NEED to tribute THREE Sea
Serpents that are Level 3 or lower from the Field to
Special Summon Poseidra. You can't use yesterday's
card with this, as you all ready Special Summoned.
It's certainly worth noting you can Special Summon
this card from your Hand OR Graveyard via its own
effect, and if done, you return all Magic and Trap
cards on the Field to the owners' Hands. All your
opponents Monsters lose 300 attack if the amount
returned was three or more. So that's potentially
at least 300 attack, but then even so, unless you
win THIS turn, (I assume the attack decrease is
permanent) you're likely ONLY TO HAVE THIS MONSTER
ON THE FIELD. To an earlier point, A Legendary
Ocean is a moot card here, as you're ridding the
card here, losing the attack increase, and you don't
get the mass destruction you do with Levia. Atlanteans
may catch on, especially with Frogs and coming
Mermail cards, but I just don't see the Deck needing
this.

We finish off the week with the boss monster of
the Atlanteans, Poseidra, the Atlantean Dragon. All
you need is 3 level 3 or lower water monsters on the
field to summon our boss monster and it can come
from the hand or graveyard. Furthermore, the
tributes are a cost so you will also get the effects
of the Atlanteans that you tributed. And it gets
even better as all of the spell and trap cards on
the field are returned to the hand, thus clearing
the field of cards that can stop your attack. Now
add in the effect that reduces all of your
opponent’s monsters attacks by 300 per returned
spell/trap and you have one nasty, game winning
monster.
Having 3 level 3 or lower water monsters on the
field is a piece of cake for Atlanteans. All we have
to do is go back to yesterday’s card of the day,
Call of the Atlanteans. In fact, just look at the
cards we reviewed this week and you will see that
summoning 3 level 3 or lower monsters from the hand
and field are what Atlanteans are good at. Simply
summon Deep See Diva, special summon Atlantean Heavy
Infantry, and then do a second normal summon for
another Sea Serpent. You could even play Treeborn
Frog as it combos well with Abyss Soldier.
Most Atlantean decks that you will see will not play
Poseidra or will play only one of these monsters as
it makes for a more consistent deck, however you
could easily build a deck around Poseidra and abuse
the heck out of it. By playing 3 of each Atlantean
along with Deep Sea Diva and Genex Undine, it will
be easy to get those Atlanteans in your hand and
graveyard. Searching for Poseidra is also easy with
the effect of Atlantean Dragoons to get it in your
hand or Skreech to get it in the graveyard.
There are tons of ways to get the monsters you need
on the field with other cards too, but we are
focusing on the Atlantean build. If you are playing
your Atlanteans with Mermails, you will probably
want to limit the number of Poseidras you play as
most of the Mermails are level 4 or more. I would
not say the Poseidra is the game breaker for
Atlanteans as the Elemental Lord is there to fill
that bill, however, it certainly gives Atlanteans a
mean punch with its 2800 attack.

Poseidra, The Atlantean Dragon is our final card
at our week long review of the new Realm of the Sea
Emperor structure deck. A level 7 WATER/Sea-Serpent
type monster with 2800 ATK and 1600 DEF. This is the
trump card for the Atlanteans, and best used with
Call of the Atlanteans...why? Because you can
tribute 3 WATER monsters to special summon this card
from your hand or graveyard. And when you do, you
can return all spells and traps to their owners
hand. If 3 or more cards are returned to the hand by
this effect, all of your opponent's monsters they
currently control lose 300 ATK for each card.
Returning all spells and traps to the hand is pretty
good, as it could save this card from getting hit
with Mirror Force or Dimensional Prison. Having your
opponent's monsters lose 300 ATK for each card
returned if 3 or more cards are returned to the hand
is alright, depending on the situation given.
Overall, this is one of those cards that you really
only need one of. A good card that does what it does
well. What would make this worse is after this guy
hits the field, is playing another Call of the
Atlanteans.
