Tin Goldfish is the Level 4 Tour Guide from the Underworld...That could be the entire review, but allow me to explain. Tour Guide is almost an instant Rank 3 XYZ Monster, Tin Goldfish is an almost an instant Rank 4 XYZ Monster. A Water attributed, Machine monster, with 800 attack, but 2000 defense (not that he'll stay on the Field long anyway) Tin Goldfish is a gem of a Monster.

When Normal Summoned, you're allowed to Special Summon a Level 4 Monster from your Hand. That's it, but that's enough. Hell, that's more than enough. It's a pretty fair trade off that you only get the effect when Normal Summoned, and it's a huge bonus that it's a Water Monster, as it is a great fit for most Water Decks too.

Ratings:

4/5 both Formats, it's honestly as good in Traditional in my opinion

Welcome back to Hidden Arsenal week! Today we are looking at a card that doesn't fit into any of the duel terminal archetypes, but rather into an anime card stuck into the pack as a fun treat for the dedicated fans of the show. However, this card helps bring back a old competitive deck back into the shinelight. Without further ado, lets take a look at Tin Goldfish!

Tin Goldfish
WATER/ Machine/ Level 4

When this card is Normal Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 Level 4 monster from your hand.

800 ATK/ 2000 DEF

It is a well known fact that cards that summon others from hand are quite medicore, unless they allow you to plus off the summon. We can see this from Marauding Captain and Goblinderg. So why is Tin Goldfish an exception to this rule? Well, the main reason is because of an old classic deck: Gadgets.

Tin Goldfish brings the entire deck back together to become a very strong xyz deck. The main combo with it is to use it summon a gadget and overlay into Gear Gigant X. With X, you detach a material and search out another Goldfish. This gives you a six card hand with another goldfish and a gadget alongside a 2300 attacker. Basically, you get a free 2300 attacker that can search other another key card next turn. If you have a double summon, you can search out Machina Gearframe and simply destroy your opponent with advantage.

Oh, you could also use this in Wind-Ups to help facilitate xyz spam. Plus, as it is a water monster, it makes salvage more viable with Wind-Up shark.

Advanced: 4.0

Gadgets become a thing again thanks to this card. Prepare for some insane plusses once we have the Hidden Arsenal hit the shelves!

Traditional: 2.0

It could work, if you really want to play gadgets here.

Art: 3.5

Its kind of adorable. It reminds me a lot of wind-ups.

Obskera

Today we are looking at: Tin Goldfish

“When this card is Normal Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 Level 4 monster from your hand.”

This is the TCG import of one of the most sought after pieces of gadget support in existence, Tin Plate Goldfish. In the OCG there was a swarm of Gadget decks that used him. Gadgets are still, arguably, one of the best counters to most of the current Meta; macro doesn’t hurt them in any way. They are also one of the only decks that can use ultimate offering, and double summon, to full potential.

Tin Goldfish (goldfish) does his job better than most other, similar effect, monsters. He not only allows the gadgets effect to resolve, he is also a machine, and has a nice round 2000 defense for those pesky hands where you can’t draw another monster. With this cards legality I hope to see some Meta impact in the TCG. I mean really, who doesn’t love the underdog?

Advanced: 5/5

Traditional: 4/5
