Constellar Star Chart is an interesting Magic
card, and one I think I'd be playing in my
Constellar Deck. This is a Continuous Magic card
that lets you Draw 1 card, once per turn, when you
Special Summon an XYZ Constellar Monster. I suppose
it's balanced in a way you can only do this once per
turn, at least reaping the benefit of the Draw. This
is not applicable during the Damage Step, however.
So if you play this and gain the effect even once,
say just the turn you activate it, the card pays for
itself, thus being a 1-for-1, but you could easily
enough turn it into advantage.

Constellar monsters have entered the Yu-Gi-Oh
realm with the advent of Hidden Arsenal #7.
Unfortunately, they tend to have a problem with
keeping up with all of the plusses that the top tier
decks generate. Constellar Star Chart is one of the
few cards that can compensate for this deficiency.
Constellar builds are all about special summoning
their powerful Xyz monsters, so more times than not,
it is at least a one for one.
Constellar decks have some pretty cool tricks to
increase Star Chart’s draw power. First, play
Constellar Star Chart. Then Xyz summon Constellar
Pleiades (draw a card). Then bounce Star Chart back
to the hand with Pleiades or Gravelstorm and reply
it. Finally, overlay Pleiades with Constellar
Ptolemy M7 to draw a second card. You can also make
use of Constellar Star Chart on your opponent’s turn
by playing the trap card, Xyz Reborn.
The only plusses that I see coming from a Constellar
deck are with this card, Xyz monster effects, and
Constellar Star Cradle (gets two Constellar monsters
from the graveyard). With the Constellar deck’s
ability to Xyz monsters at a fast clip, I would
recommend playing Star Chart. If nothing else, it
forces your opponent to expend resources on it.
Constellar decks are not considered to be top tier
so my ratings will reflect Star Chart’s limited
playability and impact on the game.

Today we are looking at:
Constellar Star Chart
“Once per turn, when a "Constellar"
Xyz Monster(s) is Special Summoned to your side of
the field (except during the Damage Step): You can
draw 1 card.”
This card is pretty much the
number one reason that Constellar’s are relevant.
The power to draw one extra card every turn, if you
special summon a Constellar XYZ monster, is pretty
cool. (It happens a lot in Constellar decks.) Not
quite to the level of ye old banned friend cards,
but it still packs a punch. I like it at a one/two
of in Constellar’s.

Today's Card of the Day Review is Constellar Star
Chart, a Secret Rare from the Hidden Arsenal 7
booster set.
"Once per turn, when a "Constellar" Xyz
Monster(s) is Special Summoned to your side of the
field (except during the Damage Step): You can draw
1 card.
It is a decent amount of support for Constellars,
awarding the player with extra draws whenever he/she
Special Summons an Constellar Xyz Monster.
Note the wording on the card stating that you can
draw whenever you Special Summon, not Xyz Summon, an
Constellar Xyz Monster. By having it worded this
way, you can abuse it by Xyz Summoning an Constellar
Xyz Monster, like Pleiades, and draw a card and then
later on in the game, activate the Trap Card Xyz
Reborn to bring it back from the Graveyard and draw
another card.
Speaking of Constellar Pleiades, there is a nifty
trick using that card and Star Chart. First, Xyz
Summon Pleiades and draw a card. Afterwards, use its
effect to bounce Star Chart back to your hand and
then activate Star Chart again. Then use Pleiades to
Xyz Change into Ptolemy M7. With this, you can draw
another card off of the same Star Chart so you got 2
cards out of the deal.
Lastly, this card effect stacks so if you got 2
Star Charts out, each Constellar Xyz Summon will net
you a Pot of Greed. That's pretty cool.
Overall, this is a good range of steady draw
power for Constellars and one of the reasons to
actually want to play this deck. It's pretty cheap
right now so if you want to give this deck a test
run, now is the best time to pick up your copies of
this card.
Traditional Format: 2/5 (While it does help in
that format, there is quicker way to speed through
the deck. Still, the option is there.)
Advanced Format: 3/5 (Even though this card is much
welcome support, the deck is still a bit slow.
Nonetheless, this is indeed a good card and I'm sure
anyone who is playing the deck is not regretting
having access to it.)

Welcome to our last Hidden Arsenal card of this
week! Today we will be looking at a very interesting
Constellar card that allows them to turn their xyz
summoning into strong pluses, and thus keep up with
the tempo of the fast paced game we currently have.
Lets take a look at Constellar Star Chart.
Constellar Star Chart
Continuous Spell Card
Once per turn, when a "Constellar" Xyz Monster(s) is
Special Summoned to your side of the field (except
during the Damage Step): You can draw 1 card.
What do Constellar monsters do best? Search, Summon
many monsters, and then xyz summon into many
different ranks. However, the summoning and xyz
aspects of the deck take up a lot of resources when
making your plays. Star Chart helps to alleviate and
help this issue.
Once per turn, when you summon a constellar xyz
monster, you can draw a card. While it doesn't seem
like a lot, over time this can generate a large
amount of advantage. It also helps to note that you
get the draw even if the summon isn't an xyz summon
(XYZ Reborn comes to mind here). Many of the
constellar xyz monsters are strong picks to go into
regardless (M7, Peladies, Omega [once released]), so
getting those extra draws will help go into more
plays,or at least let you draw into your defenses.
As such, this allows you to push a bit more than you
normally would as you gain advantage (or break even
in terms of plusing).
You can also use it as a way to bluff out any set
MST your opponent might have set. Many constellar
decks are teching Fire Formation Tenki in their deck
so search out Kaust; some even go the extra mile and
use Fire Fist Bear in their decks. Playing Star
Chart might make your opponent go after it with
their MST to avoid you drawing extra cards, and thus
allow Tenki to go through easily.
Advanced: 3.25
Easily a staple in Constellar decks. It isn't
necessarily the main card or the game winner in the
deck, but it does help.
Traditional: 1.5
I could see Constellars doing something here.
Art: 2.5
Victory shot! Interesting art, though the secret
rare does make it hard to see. |
