We're starting our Top 10 Cards of 2013
Countdown! At #10 is Star Eater, a card I'm still
rather fond of. Star Eater is a beast of a Synchro
Monster, and has awesome art. This is a Light
attributed, Dragon type Monster, with 3200 attack
and 2800 defense. Star Eater is a Level 11 Synchro
Monster, Synchro Summoned with one Tuner and one or
more non-Tuner Monsters. Level 11 likely means three
Monsters, as even a Level 4 Tuner means you still
need a Level 7 Monster to pull it off with just two.
Star Eater is a shutdown Monster, and has a lot of
great things going for him. He can only be Special
Summoned by Synchro Summon. and not be Special
Summoned in other ways. It's Synchro Summon cannot
be negated. When Synchro Summoned, cards and effects
cannot be activated. Furthermore, if this card
attacks, it is unaffected by effects until the end
of the Damage Step. This is a brute of a Monster,
and it should be one, if you're running Synchros
anyway, you should be using.

Our next 10 reviews will be over the top 10
monsters of the year and there were some good ones
that changed the game. I would not say that today’s
card changed the game, but Star Eater is definitely
a powerful card. All you need is a tuner and a high
level monster or the ability to summon several
monsters and a turner. Decks like Synchron, Fabled,
and Flamvell’s can summon a lot of monsters at one
time, while Dragon, Harpies, and Fairy decks can
summon a big monster and a tuner.
I like to play Mist Valley Soldier in my Harpies
deck. I also play Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms,
so all one has to due is special summon a Tempest
and normal summon Soldier to Synchro summon Star
Eater. In fact, any deck playing a Dragon Ruler
(level 7) and a level 4 tuner can summon Star Eater
with ease. That is why Star Eater was so popular in
a Dragon Ruler deck because besides the four
different Dragon Rulers, it played Debris Dragon. In
Dragon decks that play Red-Eyes Darkness Metal
Dragon, all you need is Red-Eyes and Effect Veiler.
In other decks that play Metal Reflect Slime or
Tragoedia, all you need is an Effect Veiler.
Once you go to summon Star Eater it is a beast to
stop. You can not negate the summon or respond to
the summon one it hits the field. Then it can not be
affected by any other card effects once it attacks.
With 3200 in attack, there are not many monsters
that can stand up to this bad boy. Hence the reason
Star Eater makes out top 10 list.

Star Eater
LIGHT/Dragon/Synchro/Effect/Level 11/3200/2800
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
Must be Synchro Summoned, and cannot be Special
Summoned by other ways. This card's Synchro Summon
cannot be negated. When Synchro Summoned, cards and
effects cannot be activated. If this card attacks,
it is unaffected by other card effects until the end
of the Damage Step.
At Number 10 of Our Top 10 cards of 2013 is Star
Eater, the first Level 11 Synchro Monster. In fact
level 11 for some reason is a very rare level in
Yu-Gi-Oh with around 5 cards being of this level.
Still Star Eater is a generic Light/Dragon with
3200/2800 DEF which is actually pretty weak making
it the 2nd weakest level 11 after Yubel: Terror
Incarnate. Still as always weak stats for a level
means a good effect. Well the bad news is that
terrible condition,” Must be Synchro Summoned, and
cannot be Special Summoned by other ways.” So that’s
a lot of its playability gone. Still it as loads of
protection, mainly having the same summoning
protection as Obelisk the Tormentor so all your hard
work isn’t going to be ruined the minute you summon
it. Always it has protection when it attacks, so
that helps as well.
But then things go downhill, it has no protection
outside these, so it is completely vulnerable during
the rest of your turn and all of your opponent’s
turn. So it makes you really wonder if it is worth
the whole summoning thing, when other synchro
monsters are easier to get out.
Overall, a lot of good protection for when you
get it out, but the low stats means that it isn’t
really worth it.

Star Eater
Howdy there, today's card is Star Eater one hell of
a boss monster, this bad boy is one for the books
and starts our top 10 week. A generic level 11
Synchro that summon cannot be negated, not many
decks can pump him out, but oh boy when they do his
engine is running at full speed. Seriously if only a
deck could bring him out first turn consistently the
damage he could do. Not much can really stop him and
with the amount of ways you can protect him he can
stay around for a while. Probably my most favourite
card from Judgement of the Light. Even by the name
he is a dragon that eats stars, how insane is that?
A Dragon big enough to eat a star, to put that in
comparison he is bigger than shenron. My
yugi-drenaline is pumping, gah! So coooool!!!!
Traditional: 4/5 (Still powerful here especially
with the flurry of tuners to use to get him out)
Advanced: 5/5 (Sadly he isn't popular, since XYZ is
still well XYZ, but dear zombie jesus, a dragon that
eats stars -mind blown-)
Art: 5.1/5 I'll say it again Dragon that EATS
STARS!!! Holy Hell!

Hey everyone, welcome to the first of our Top 10
cards of 2013 review. Today we cover Star Eater,
probably the nastiest Synchro to come out this year
(though admittedly one of few.)
First off, those stats. Level 11 is awkward,
though I'll admit that back in the day when I
endorsed the Nordic deck, there was more than one
occasion I wished I had a level 11 Synchro to use.
That aside, it's not hard to do. A popular method
lately was to summon any of the E-dragons and then
normal summon Debris Dragon, thus giving you your
4+7 easy synchro of this. And when it happens, it's
hard to stop, since all the conventional methods go
out the window. No warning, no bottomless, no mirror
force, etc. All attached to an almighty 3200 attack
stat.
Now though, with E-dragons finally about to get
what they deserve, your options will be more
limited. I ran a copy in Spellbooks to use with
Effect Veiler and Spellbook of Life, but that's
barely a legit option, more of an "oh look this
happens to work 1 in a 1000 times." Really it
depends on the deck; if you happen to have 11 stars
worth of stuff on the field, then by all means go
for this. I'm not going to cover every combination
of monsters that can summon you this. There are way
too many options and being a generic level 11, it's
available to everyone.
So yeah, not the most ground-breaking card of
2013, but it's a great card nonetheless. It gives
you options in awkward situations you might not have
had before, and being unstoppable by normal means
just makes it all the better. Keep one on hand for
any opportunity you might get to use it.

Hello Pojo Fans,
We're nearly to the end of 2013 and that means
the Top 10 of 2013 in Yu-Gi-Oh. To start things off,
the #10 ranked card of 2013 is Star Eater. This
nifty Light, Level 11, Dragon-type Synchro monster
has 3200ATK/2800DEF, and is quite playable. Needing
1 Tuner and 1 or more non-Tuner monsters, Star Eater
must be Synchro Summoned, and cannot be Special
Summoned by other ways. This card's Synchro Summon
cannot be negated. When Synchro Summoned, cards and
effects cannot be activated. If this card attacks,
it is unaffected by other card effects until the end
of the Damage Step.
Star Eater is a light, dragon, both those traits
have support and allow playability. Remove Star
Eater for Chaos Sorcerer or Black Luster
Solider-Envoy of The Beginning after Star Eater has
served its purpose. 3200 attack is pretty good for a
level 11 monster. Star Eater only needing one tuner
and one or more non-tuner monsters gives it more
playability than if it had required tuners or levels
for its non-tuner materials. What really makes Star
Eater great is it's effects. It's Synchro Summon
cannot be negated, so when you sync for this dragon,
he's coming out. When Star Eater hits the field,
card effects and cards cannot be activated. You
bring out Star Eater, no need to worry about
Bottomless Trap Hole. And finally, “if this card
attacks, it is unaffected by other card effects
until the end of the Damage Step”. When Star Eater
attacks, it's attack is going through, and with 3200
attack, that will be a problem for your opponent. If
you can protect Star Eater after it is summoned and
attacked, it can reduce the resources available to
your opponent.
Not all decks can Synchro Summon a level 11
monster. The Extra Deck is pretty packed these days,
so decks have to be able to play this monster
reliably to free up a slot for this dragon. Though
it may have protection when you summon it, and when
you attack, it is left out in the open after the
Damage Step. You won't always have ways of
protecting it, nor will you always want to use
things like Forbidden Dress or Forbidden Lance to
protect it. Plenty of ways to deal with this card
between its Summon and the Battle Phase, as well as
after the Damage Step. A Compulsory Evacuation
Device can sting pretty badly. If it was protected
once per turn, during either players turn from a
card effect, then it would be something much tougher
to deal with. If Skill Drain is already on the field
you won't be playing this guy until you get rid of
it.
Traditional-3/5
Advanced-4/5- Better, more playable, but XYZ is
still first choice before Synchro now.
Art-4.5/5- A lot going on and I like every bit of
it.
Until Next Time,

10 – Star Eater
I got an Ultimate Rare Star Eater & I love this
dragon. It's a decent card with impressive stats, a
sweet picture and the fact it has built in
protection, EPIC!!! Of course the fact people have
to declare when they're in the battle phase before
attacking and Compulsory Evacuation Device is a
thing can be annoying. Regardless, this is an
amazing monster that is going to do something once
it hits the field, if you're summoning this you're
probably going for game. If this happens to just sit
on the field though it's nothing more than a big
monster. Depending on the resource investment losing
this monster could be very costly but if you're a
smart player you're not going to invest resources
into something that isn't a win or hasn't already
paid for itself. The only reason this monster isn't
getting a perfect score is because it requires you
to engage in battle to net field advantage and can't
be special summoned through any method other than
synchro summon.
