A Synchro Monster?  Blasphemy!  Well, no, today, we look at Crimson Blader, and the next set is supposedly bringing many new Synchros to the game in an effort to make them playable again.  As for today, Crimson Blader is a Level 8 Synchro Monster, of the Fire attribute, with 2800 attack and 2600 defense, both which are very good.  This Monster is Synchro Summoned with a Tuner, and one or more non-Tuner Monsters, so it's an easy enough Synchro Monster to bring out.  If this guy had come out before XYZ Monsters had hit the scene, he'd certainly be a game breaking card in my opinion.

When he destroys a Monster by Battle, Crimson Blader prevents your opponent from Normal or Special Summoning Level 5 or higher Monsters during their next turn.  Obviously the inherent flaw here being that this effect doesn't effect XYZ Monsters, as they have no Level.  So at least in the now, I don't see Crimson Blader being all that effective.  Seeing how is only effect, good as it may be, or may have been, he just can't do much in the competitive environment as of right now.  You could play one in a Fire Deck, say Fire Fist, if only because of the attribute, but I'm not sure where else.

Today we review an odd import for Cosmo Blazar. However, it is an amazing card that many synchro decks are glad to have! Let's take a look at Crimson Blader!

Crimson Blader
FIRE/ Warrior/ Level 8

1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
If this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard: Your opponent cannot Normal or Special Summon Level 5 or higher monsters during their next turn.

2800/2600

I am so glad that we were able to import this card into Cosmo Blazar, and even better at a low rarity. For a level 8 synchro, it has pretty good stats. 2800 attack can easily get over many of the popular cards of today.

The effect is very good to top it off! You kill one of their monsters and they can not summon Level 5 or higher monsters during the next turn. This can absolutely kill Chaos Dragons and hurt Fire Kings and Atlanteans. Chaos Dragons won't be able to access Pulsar and Red-Eyes. Fire Kings can't summon Garunix and Mermails can't attempt to summon Megalo; which is one of their main access points to discard.

However, we are in an age where we don't have many decks that can synchro summon. I know that Karakuris, from personal experience, can summon this easily. However... there isn't much else. Hunders can, but many of the popular decks that can summon level 8 synchros have died off due to the xyz age.

Amazing abilities against certain match-ups with a respectful attack.

Traditional: 2.0

Kinda slow.... but good still

Twin-bladed warrior on fire? Very nice.

Today we are looking at a synchro monster from Cosmo Blazer: Crimson Blader

“1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
If this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard: Your opponent cannot Normal or Special Summon Level 5 or higher monsters during their next turn.”

So we have an 8 star, no special monsters or types required, synchro monster. The effect is pretty straightforward, if you use it to destroy a monster by battle pretty much any top tier deck short of Rabbit and/or Fire Fist are going to have some issues. Mermail, Prophecy, even Six samurai have a tough time getting a boss on the field after this resolves. (Though that’s not to say it completely shuts them down) It has nice attack, and Fire type is interesting.

Overall he is good, but in a Meta where your extra deck choices can win (or lose) you the match, he is competing with a large pool of monsters that have much higher utility. I personally feel like he would be kind of nice in a Plant Anti-Meta deck (Did you ever think you would hear that? Me either.) I don’t really see many other decks that would benefit much from this guy.

Advanced: 3/5 (In plants)
Traditional: 4/5 (It stops chaos emperor from breaking your swing set. That fact alone warrants the extra point.)

Crimson Blader
Fire/Warrior/Synchro/Effect/Level8/2800/2600
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
If this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard: Your opponent cannot Normal or Special Summon Level 5 or higher monsters during their next turn.

Crimson Blader is another new Synchro monster; it was used by Jack Atlas in the final duel of 5Ds. Crimson Blader is a generic Synchro with a “destroy a monster by battle “effect however unlike most monsters with this type of effect, Crimson Blader actually has the attack to pull it off. So if you do destroy a monster your opponent can’t summon level 5 or higher monster on their next turn. This is an effect that is sadly a bit late. With Xyz monsters now around you can summon powerful monsters that aren’t high level or don’t require high level monsters to summon. If this was released during 5Ds high point this would be brutal. The effect is still great don’t get me wrong but it’s not a useful as it would have been.

Overall Crimson Blader is a fine card with good starts and a good effect, if only it was released sooner. Maybe with Synchros returning later this year, he might see some play/

Miguel

Hey look.....A Synchro monster! Crimson Blader is a Jack Atlas special and one of his very few non-dragon type synchro monsters. He stands tall at a level 8 synchro, with 2800/2600 for ATK/DEF, and is a FIRE/Warrior-type. When Crimson Blader destroys a monster and sends it to the graveyard by battle *And it will happen* your opponent can't normal or special summon any level 5 or higher monsters during their next turn. That can put a serious damper on any big moves your opponent may have planned next turn. No level 5 or higher monsters, means no bigger Synchros try to over power Blader or use an effect to get rid of it, or Xyz monsters that are Rank 5 or higher for that next turn, and that places your opponent in a corner where they will be forced to waste serious resorces to get rid of Blader. That Dark Hole they were saving for the win, or something like that. This card is really useful against Dragons/Chaos Dragon and Monarchs. Blader will turn a handful of powerful, high level monsters that are usually easy to summon into a useless hand for a turn. I like Crimson Blader a lot, as it could force your opponent in a position where they may be stuck using nothing but level 4 or lower monsters for the rest of the game.
